i find one problem i might have is when i fire the handgun i will unconsiously do a slight down/forward/push type of movement with the gun somewhat like anticipating recoil/ attempting to reduce muzzle flip im not sure. At least this is what ive seen sometime when a round doesnt go off for some reason or another.
oh just sayin if your shooting through a port or opening make sure theres nothin in the way of your slide or dont let the recoil from your gun bump anything while the slide is moving. I did that and it didnt cycle properly and i lost about 3-4 seconds clearing the malfunction
which book?

i got dq'd on my first match for supposedly breaking the 180 it was one of those kinds of stages where you advance downrange and they had targets on either side that were pretty much behing barrels and unshootable until you were almost at the 180 anyways. that and i think the RO snuffed me out because he knew that i was a new shooter and i was being too enthusiastic.
i just practiced some of the saftey stuff on my own time and payed more attention and ive done 5 matches since with no issues.
