  1. training at Bridgeport CA, base camp was at 6500 ft and everything was up from there.

training at a high altitude is really a sweet deal for improving lung capacity and oxygen delivery.

i was at Idaho Falls for a few days and did some running there, i definitely noticed a difference between 4700ft and sea level

  2. things to help prevent DOMS

-dynamic or static stretching of target muscles after workout

-being well hydrated before and after workout

-moving around a bit and getting some blood flow through target muscles postworkout

-ice target muscles postworkout, supposedly helps flush out more lactic acid due to constricting the blood vessels.

-you can take some tylenol, aspirin or ibuprofin because they are anti-inflammatory drugs but i read somewhere that it might have some effect on actually improving your performance from progressive workouts.

-stuff like fish-oil tablets, fish, vitamin-C, Multivitamin couldnt hurt either.

  3. that would make pretty good sense, most of the time when you are a dominator like that you want to try and dominate as many different aspects of the sport as possible to make your dominion complete

as a tree grows and reaches for the sunlight its branches grow far and wide

  4. im not really adding much here but i agree that allowing 15rnd mag capacity for production similar to ipsc shooting would muddle things a bit. Keep it simple, you want to use a bigger stick, play in Limited.

If you want to shoot a certain division, get good at the skillset it requires and quit arguing about the rules, they arent going to change.

  5. one of my best runs on a not so typical plate rack.. This is from the Big Dawg Steel match in Lowell, IA.

    thats pretty solid.

personally i am missing not being able to practice shooting plate racks, its probably one of the funnest things to do

  6. Would you be able to improve the performance of one of your eyes by constantly blocking off the other eye and forcing the weak eye do all of the work? Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?

I know that you cant program the other eye to be the 'dominant' eye (at least so ive read) but i was wondering if you could train or improve the other eye to an extent where if you were RH LE'd you could shoulder a rifle and effectively use the scope/sights with your non-dominant eye while keeping both eyes open.

  7. I have 2 xdm9's. I dont have a scale to compare the weights of the 2 slides but i swear that the 2nd XDm i bought even with identical springs, rods and parts in it is more 'top heavy' feeling than my old xdm9

I doubt that part wear from extended use would cause that much of a discrepancy where i could actually feel a difference in how the gun holds in my grip.

Is it possible to have 2 identical pistols that were manufactured slightly different and have slightly different tolerances and part weights?

Have you experienecd anything like this with a different make of pistol?

  8. oh man my old xdm9 with 25,000 rounds through it i talked to SA and was like:

'hey my extractor is kind of wobbly, you think i could send it in for some warranty service?'

the lady gives me an RMA, i box it and drop it off at the FedEx hub by the airport on a Wednesday...then TUESDAY OF THE FOLLOWING WEEK the gun is at my door with a nice shiny, stiff silver colored new extractor in it, with a bit of soot on it indicating they ripped a few rounds through the gun just to make sure it was good.

    thats what i call service.

  9. its one of those odd things that you hear and read about but it takes you a little longer to actually learn it for yourself

just doing some static target shooting at the range freestyle/strong and weak handed

while shooting strong hand i had the gun at extension and see it shaking slightly because of how hard i am gripping it, you grip it hard because you beleive it will keep the sights from moving as much and from the gun flopping around.

i held it there and loosened my grip and allowed the gun to be very still in my hand, while shooting i let it move around a bit more, i dont know if 'sloppy' is the right word, but 'more relaxed.'

i just saw those groups tighten right up, its one of those dumb things where you already kind of know it but then you just see the evidence in front of your face

then the phrase 'hold it like a hammer' of course came to my mind

  10. im not an expert or anything but it doesnt seem like split times are that important unless you are shooting some stage like 'can you count' where you shoot 5, reload and shoot 5 more.

some 32 round field course if you need to move to a few different spots the reloads and the actual moving to different spots is what cuts the time down....or so i would assume

  11. i was looking through a telescope yesterday and found that when using my dominant eye i could effectively keep both eyes open and i was able to get a nice double image where i was both seeing through the telescope and seeing outside the side of the telescope out the window.
