  1. I don't remember the SKU number. Bought mine in November, SA website said 2 mags, came with 4,
  2. 5" 1911 and HK45 barrels. I am using a "custom" bullet mold that I cast. It is the Lee 230 TC Tumble lube 6 cav, that I had .080 milled off the top making it drop at 208-210gr. with air cooled wheel weight lead that I powder coat. I began using this load MANY years ago except with 4.5gr. when I heard it was the Wilson Custom Shop accuracy load.(shot a Gazillion of these.) Then ran across some info that claimed this was an overpressure load and I read that VV said 4grs. was max. So I dropped down to that. There was no loss in accuracy and the load functions all of my 45s so I stuck with it. Then a couple years ago a friend let me send a few over his chrony and I got the real velocity. There wasn't any problems with the load so I stuck with it. I load them by the 50 cal ammo can full. BTY, The chrony should be here next week. Maybe I can get some numbers then. AR15-SBR
  3. Well, This thread has propped me to buy a Chronograph.(LONG overdue, I agree) and I will see what my Actual velocities are compared to the books. 57K, thank you for the info and the heads up on the Vectan powder I will keep my eye out for some. Is there a source for load data for pistol loads? Everything I have found has been for shotgun loads. I know that my N310 loads Chrono at 780fps. and the book says they should be 892ps, but they cycle in all of my pistols, are VERY accurate and that is what I am most concerned with. The store had some of the CFE Pistol powder on sale a month back....I guess I should have picked up some then as well. I will have to start scrutinizing the load data pressures more when looking for loads. AR15-SBR
  4. Well duhh, I just noticed I posted a .45 load question in the 9mm area. Mods can move this it they want. I am planning on loading some 9mm 125gr. FMJ with this powder as well, so I guess it will be relevant. I don't have a Chrono, so no idea on the velocity. I usually start loading at the load manual starting load and work up until I get a reliable functioning load(these are just for plinking). My normal load for these pistols is 4gr. of VV N310(when I can find it) topped with a 200gr. cast/PC boolit. I bought this powder because it was "on sale" and I noticed the was load data for both 9mm and 45acp and it would give me something to play with if I cant find and VV N310 AR15-SBR
  5. Picked up a pound of this powder to play with because it was on sale. I used the Win/Hodgdon starting load for my 45acp of 6.5 gr, behind a 200gr. bullet. After shooting 20-25 of the loads I noticed there was some Tan/Brown crumbs left in the barrel.(they were easy to blow out of the barrel) Accuracy was very good out of my Les Baer 1911, but not so good out of my HK45(Polygonal rifling issue) My question is...Is Autocomp like Unique and burns cleaner with more pressure??? Thanks AR15-SBR
  6. chukster....Thanks for the offer but I have 7.62 covered....9mm, 357 or 44 Mag perhaps????
  7. I went to Walmart and bought 3 4x12' minnow seins. I cut the floats off of them and then using a set of Hog Ring pliers I "ringed" them together lengthwise. This gave me a 12'x12' mesh tarp very simular to the Brass magnet. I left the weights on to help keep the thing in place when the wind blows. Works great. AR15-SBR
  8. After you make a change to your Dillon powder measure, how many cycles does it take for it to settle in and start throwing consistant drops? And, if the spring on the bell crank pops out of the little hole on the lever, how much difference could that make in the load consitancy? I did "eyeball" every powder charge...but then, my eyeball hasn't been calibrated in years. AR15-SBR
  9. Guys, Thanks for the tips. I started looking at the insert, dug out some old die grinder stones, reprofiled the tips of the stones and chucked them in the drill. I ground on the insert and to my suprise it wasn't a hard metal(but I guess it doesn't need to be). I got the insert profile close enough to the bullet nose profile that I am satisfied it will work fine. AR15-SBR
  10. I am loading bullets that I cast using a Lee Trunicated Cone 452-230-TL mold. The insert in the Dillon 45ACP die that is used for seating Semi-Wadcutter nose profiles makes a serious dent in the nose of this bullet. I tried reversing the insert to the round nose profile and it makes a "smiley" shaped dent in the nose. Is anyone else loading this bullet? If so what are you using for seating the bullet without damaging the nose? Thanks AR15-SBR
  11. Well, I went ahead and bought it. I got it used whith a BUNCH of extras. Came with 45ACP and 40S&W Dillon dies....I don't even have a 40, but he through in sooooo many components for the 40 I am thinking about going out and buying one. SO for now at least I won't have to look at the empty hole. Guys, Thanks for the info. AR15-SBR
  12. BeerBaron, Perfect answer, That is something I can wrap my brain around. Thank You very much Sir. AR15-SBR
  13. I guess I will leave #4 open. I thought someone here might be able to inlighten me as to why you should seat and crimp in seperate stations.... Again I am not trying to come across as a Dic#, I just don't buy into the "because THEY designed it that way" line. If there is a practicaland measureable accuracy benefit, that someone can explaine to me, than I am open to trying it...if not then the 4th station is useless. FYI, Tomorrow I am going to pick up a used 550b, that appears to be a good deal, so you don't have to "sell" me on the system. The quality of Dillons Progressive press is what sold me. Again I am just trying to understand the advantage/benefits of seperating the two stations. Thanks for the help AR15-SBR
  14. Cnote...seat and crimp in seperate stations...but why. I don't want to come off as a jerk, so please hear me out. I have been shooting and reloading for over 30 years and during that time my RCBS Rockchucker and RCBS dies have made MANY thousands of accurate pistol rounds. This is why I ask about seating and crimping in seperat stations. I am in a position that affords me the opprotunity to shoot more and to be honest I don't feel like pulling the handle three times for every one round of ammo, this is the reason for the change to a progressive press. I just don't want to start all over on my equiptment. Thanks for letting me vent, if you will AR15-SBR
  15. I am planning on buying a 550 after Christmas. I plan on loading mainly my high volum ammo(9mm.45ACP and 38) and continue to load my rifle stuff on my Rockchucker...for now(I suspect a complete changeover will come). I will be using my RCBS 3 die set on the 550B. Question #1, What do most people do with the empty station? Thanks AR15-SBR
