  1. JT you will be OK as long as you put a 10rd mag in it.Please if you have any hicap (evil) mags lock them up so you can't get to them. Better yet send them to me. Bill Hearne
  2. I am guessing I change the cap and strut at about 30,000rds. I say this because I did it last week and that's how many rds I think I have shot through this gun. The strut was wearing a bit unevenly on the tip as was the hollow of the cap. It also seems the strut got a little shorter from wear. Bill Hearne
  3. Oh my God Brian. Don't let them hear you talk like that on GlockTalk. Bill H
  4. That's always the way--just when get it figured out someone changes the rules. You could get a gunsmith to change brakes since probably only the pin is welded. Of course then you trash the JP comp. Bill H
  5. My advice is don't. Titanium is not the most durable material for handguns and you will probably never see any difference between steel and titanium performance wise.I use the titanium struts and MS caps but these need to be changed now and then because of wear. I don't hear of anyone still using the firing pins. How bout you other guys? Bill H
  6. It is a bit of work to do that. It must be milled flat and a weaver base attached to the top. It is much cheaper and cleaner looking to buy a flattop receiver and have a gunsmith switch your barrel over. You can always sell your other receiver and get back some of your cash. Bill
  7. Chris I didn't know Nik was with you.Sorry I missed the opportunity to meet you Nik. Did Todd win the rifle match? I had a 30.80 run on it but stuck a shot in the black.I think it could be done in a mid-high 28.
  8. This may sound stupid but one important thing is know (not in the biblical sense) your AR. I don't mean all the super technical stuff but the basics. The last 3 gun match I was at people were there that didn't know which button to push to drop the mag or how to lock the bolt back. They owned these guns and had no idea how to use them.Amazing! Bill
  9. Well Brian don't hold us in suspense which is it? Bill
  10. To repeat Kelly's #4---you MUST have a good trigger. I would rather shoot a gun with stock sights and a great trigger than the other way around.Everytime I try to shoot a stock trigger it feels like it takes all weekend to get the shot off.If you had a good sight picture at the beinning of the pull you may not by time you get to the end of that creepy 10# pull. Hang in there. And please adjust those sights. Bill
  11. Try the holster from KYTAC----- http://members.aol.com/KyTac You can get these the easiest from SKD--- http://www.skdtac.com/ Once I tried these I gave up on Blade Tech. These holsters are FAST.These have it all over Blade Tech for fit and speed.Good people to deal with also. Order from SKD,if not happy send it back for a refund.I don't think you will though. Bill
  12. Check out http://www.ammoman.com/ for great prices on Federal Tactical slugs. Bill
  13. Nice story. Bet she could do better if she didn't have a 4 1/2lb gun. Bill
  14. The DPMS guns I have seen all seem to be very well made. I have 2 myself and a few of their barrels.I have a 20" bull barrel gun that was very accurate right out of the box. It was also the first AR I have seen that would throw it's cases in a neat little pile without tinkering with it.The price sounds good. It will be easier to make minor with the heavier bullets than the lighter ones but can be done without much problem. Good Luck, Bill
  15. Ross that flash supressor is probably pinned and welded. If you take it off it would be an illegal 11.5 barrel(at least in the US without the proper paperwork).I would look into getting a 20" barrel for that gun if it were mine. Bill
  16. I just got a few from George Smith at EGW. egw@pil.net He only had 100.He may be able to sell some to you or give you the info you need. I think one of our clubs is going to use them for a rifle side match. They are cute. Bill
  17. I agree with shooting the 1 1/8 loads. Nothing sucks more than hitting a piece of steel and moving out of the box only to see the steel still standing there.(except maybe blowing a reload)
  18. FWIW I have never been too impressed with any shotgun brakes or porting.I have shot ported and nonported guns side by side on poppers and my times were pretty much identical.YMMV Maybe some of the others can give their thoughts on this.I think the best of the bunch is the JP brake (which I have on a 1187) and for the cost and work to install I wouldn't do it again. Bill
  19. When is the Genny Light 3 gun. Where do I get info.
  20. Chris, 3 gun at Topton is a go.Can't wait. Flex, Brownells has what you need. Use the 10rd tube. That is the max allowed in USPSA. 10+1
  21. Chris,I have never understood the need for an extended bolt handle.Maybe I missed something. Of course with Remingtons maybe you do need them. Bill (Benelli fan)
  22. Pat, do you know how the JP compares with the McArthur? Where do you get this brake from? Bill
  23. Hey Paul! Did you get it to work yet? I'm curious what the problem is (was). Bill
  24. Thanks for the info Dan. hope you get fixed up. The more I read on the internet about LASIK the less I want to do it. I really hate glasses and contacts but they are much better than some of the horror stories I am reading.Your right, it's not like a bad haircut.Feel free to email me with more details if you like. Any other problems--dry eyes, halos, etc? Bill Hearne
  25. Kelly, while on the shotgun subject---how are you setting up your Benelli? I have 2, a 24" open gun w,optima and a 21" gun that started with a ghost ring cyl choke barrel but now has a ribbed barrel w/bead. Do you think the optical sight is better on the receiver or on the barrel? I think back by the eye is quicker but the barrel mount gives you a non shifting sight from barrel movement in the receiver.
