Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. For me, I change out as little as possible so quick changes are great for me. When I can, I purchase the ultimate Quick Change (a new press dedicated to a certain caliber) :^) I have noticed the large powder bars sell pretty well on ebay.
  2. If you use lead bullets with wax lube....The new style seater and crimper have removable hitch pins so the core of the die can be removed and cleaned without affecting the die body settings. This is a unique feature of Dillon dies that sets them far above other manufacturers. Lead is half the price too.
  3. You mention in you original post "shooter bullets"....if that means lead with wax lube then... The new style seater and crimper have removable hitch pins so the core of the die can be removed and cleaned without affecting the die body settings. This is a unique feature of Dillon dies that sets them far above other manufacturers.
  4. My Dillon has detected a slight amount of mud in the case that was not removed by tumbling.
  5. Save yourself the likelihood of getting a problem machine and buy new.
  6. Heartbreaking Dixie 16 years, 7 months. Sleeping in the sun on her own sofa.
  7. This past June had record gun sales (number of background checks) since 2008 so they must have had an uptick too. They're all good folks though and I'm sure it wasn't intentional.
  8. OK Doc. You may be confusing the primer pick up tube (yellow tip) with the primer tube that stays in the machine. The yellow tip is supposed to hold each primer (get stuck) as you push down on more and more primers (shiny side up) to fill it. You then invert that yellow tipped primer pick up tube with the hitch pin end down and the yellow tip up high. Pull the pin to release all the primers down into the primer magazine on the machine. I can't recall the plastic tip color for small primers in the primer magazine in the machine (check manual). You probably saw a zillion patients today and can't shift to a lower gear :^)
  9. Well thought out! At $2649.00 I'll wait till it comes down.
  10. I just checked both of my machines and they are set up just like your picture. The washer does touch the press housing and would touch the blue tab except it swings just out of the way. Once you finalize the adjustments test it with low powder and high powder you have deliberately added to two cases and tighten the two nuts together. I will stress here that I have never had a Dillon measure throw incorrectly. But the alarm has gone off with a case that had mud in it from the range that was not removed by tumbling media.
  11. This subject comes up perioditically about wanting to have a finished round counter and there is always several people who chime in and belittle the idea with dumb ideas about counting primer boxes, ammo boxes etc. We have our own reasons for wanting counters. I tear down my 6 machines for maintenance based on round count. I don't count boxes etc and consider that foolish for the number of rounds I load and shoot and the number of machines I own. Really, don't the contrarians here think we have the intelligence to come up with those simple ideas in the first place? Please let this be the thread that it is titled. Hopefully someone will put together a simple counter that is practical and for sale here and I'll take 6 of them!
  12. Well, that's good news! Good folks at Dillon to be sure! Glad you shared the outcome with us. JW
  13. Caliber changes go really fast especially if you have the toolhead set up with a powder measure ready to go. The switch on primer size is easy less than 10 minutes. I'll load lots of extra ammo with the primer size that's in place before I switch.
