  1. Awesome practice drills under the weather!
  2. most open shooters here run 140 mags pinned to 10 rds. This is done by rivetting a small piece of aluminum inside the mag that prevents the follower from going down all the way.
  3. hehe thanks! It seemed like the natural thing to do with all the momentum I had. This will make the sport much more entertaining for viewers!... Of course, safety being the primary focus..
  4. With the amount of speed and momentum I had after engaging the 2nd last target, a simple lean out was not possible without tumbling over. With that being said, I would have had to slow down before engaging the 2nd last target to set up my stance to have a solid plant with a little bit of leaning momentum to engage the last target. A time of 5.33 compared to everyone's low 6's showed that it was indeed a faster way of doing the COF, but from previous posts, I learned that getting my hits was far more superior than time.
  5. With mesh vision barrier walls you could point at the target well before getting to the actual shooting position allowing you to keep moving as you shot the middle target. If this was a solid wall stage I would agree with you. But mesh walls make it way easier to index on targets before you actually get to the shooting position. makes sense!! I'll keep that in mind next time I encounter one.
  6. I agree. As I was doing the walk through for this stage, I already planned on getting airborne on the last target. As I knew I was capable of performing this safely, I went through with the plan. Other shooters saw this but never attempted. My goal was to see if I was able to pull it off safely and see where my limitations are. This is how we progress in this sport.
  7. The port on the first target in front of the barrel is very narrow. Beginning my movement to the left as I drew the gun would hinder my view of the target thus having the need of shooting it stationary. I did manage to pull off a 5.33 on this stage while the rest were in the low 6's. But yes, you are correct with the consistency. I probably would have taken the stage win if I called all my shots instead of "hopers". At the end of it all, I gave my squad a good laugh which in return is a good feeling in my part.
  8. thanks guys! I figured if I plant myself before the fault line, i would have lost a lot of momentum gained from the run. I guess it's a trade off of speed and accuracy. But how good would it be if I was able to tag double alpha on the last paper! hehe
  9. Do you guys think it was worth it? I managed to pull the fastest time on the stage, however had a "D" which bumped me down one place from getting the stage win.
  10. give this a read through... http://re-gun.com/2011/05/c-more-care-and-feeding-fixing-wandering-windage/ Pretty good write up by Dave Re.
  11. Is your ejector tuned? The brass may be hitting your scope mount and bouncing back as the slide cycles back.
  12. how often do you guys replace the corncob media?
  13. This is a good read regarding parallax, in which I think is the culprit to your problem. http://re-gun.com/2011/04/parallax-he-aint-your-friend/
  14. What are the effects of using slow burning powders such as HS-6 and Autocomp for 9mm production loads? I have an abundant supply of Autocomp that I use for 9major and I would like to try it out for minor production loads.
  15. So is that to say that my Trubor's ejector just happens to be extra long in comparison to other Trubors? Anyone with a Trubor out there having the same issue? My stock trubor in 9mm major came with an extended ejector. From my experience extended ejectors are only fitted on 9mm open guns to aid in better ejection and reliability. Do what others have said, and grind off the ejector length a little bit at a time until you can cleanly eject a live round without hitting the barrel. Also try to ensure that the face of the ejector is as flat as possible because it may disturb the ejection pattern.
  16. how does the bedell feel compare to your old trubor? softer, flatter? also is your bedell a shorty or full size?
  17. Here's my people mover... 2007 Lexus IS250 6spd.
  18. awesome vid bro!! you navigate those stages quick! good luck with production.
  19. before i had my slide lightened my C-more had visible rub marks from the slide. It wasn't bad but they do rub for sure. I didn't measure the distance but it was very close. Slide to frame fit is tight on my gun as well. I had a Cheely mount if that makes a difference. Just shoot off a few rounds and remove the slide, and look at the bottom part of the C-more lens frame.
  20. For being so new to the sport you look good and smooth, keep up the great work. Been shooting pistols much over the years? When I started shooting USPSA in 2002 I ran a single stack 1911 Open gun in .45 ACP originally built for shooting bowling pins. LOL I had to get REAL good at doing mag changes. When I got my STI I had trouble breaking the habit of dropping the mag every 10 shots. Joe W. Thanks a lot Joe! Actually, this was my first hand gun. Learned how to shoot and aim with the Trubor. I suck really hard with iron sights though.. lol Up here in Canada we usually do mag changes from one port to another. If I do decide to shoot in the states I will need to break that habit somehow.
  21. Thanks fourtrax... The first stage on the Peterborough vid, the ports are very narrow and the targets are bunched up together thus making me stop and engage the stack of targets. I could have inched up ever so slightly to shave off a few tenths off the timer but I was too scared to break 90.. I wish our mags werent capped to 10 rounds.. I would love to just hose down all the targets! lol
  22. Thanks for the tip Mark... I never thought of shooting stacked targets bottom first. It's my natural reaction to engage targets closest to eye level. Next match I will definitely try that out.
