  1. The new XRS chassis from MDT looks like it might work. I haven’t handled one myself but it looks like it would handle like a stock.
  2. I’m thinking about trying carry optics. The Beretta and Canik are in the same price range. Has anyone compared the two? Thanks for suggestions.
  3. I know this is an older thread but I didn’t want to start a new one for a similar question. Does anyone have any updates on using the apx for competition? I was thinking about using one for dabbling in carry optics.
  4. With Grams followers you can get capacity to 17 for 40. That was the best I was ever able to get.
  5. I tried to set up a limited gun a while ago with a 96fs. I was able to get mag extensions and an extended mag release, and that's about it. With graham's followers and the Roger Sherman mousetrap extensions I was still only able to get my capacity to 17 rounds reloadable. I think it makes a solid production platform but the magazine capacity is going to be a limiting factor for other divisions.

    Px4 springs

Does anyone know where to find recoil springs for tuning a PX4? I'm currently running 40 minor and it feels over sprung.
  7. Last I looked, there aren't a lot of options for sights. The only adjustable sights I found were the beretta factory sights.
  8. I've been using the photochromic clear to black and they work very well. They actually don't get very dark. They are dark enough for comfort on a sunny day. I found they still let enough light through for a crisp front sight focus.
  9. I impulse bought one a while ago. It was just the frame but the same concept. It was kind of bulky and I would have had to trim down the grip panels to allow the ambi safety to function. I wouldn't recommend one.
  10. I haven't had any gas in the face issues and I agree being able to see the ejection port is an advantage. I put a troy ambi mag release and magpul 60 degree ambi safety and I'm good to go.
  11. I blew a classifier trying to use a stock mag with a zev magwell. I figured it was only 6 shots and then a reload so why bother with an extended mag. After the first shot, the mag came out just enough to cause a malfunction. Once I got over the surprise that my glock had jammed, I tried to seat the mag and it happened again. Lesson learned, I only use extended mags with a magwell.
  12. Does anyone know if the low profile stealth controls are production legal? It sounds like they were an option on the G model but I haven't been able to confirm it. Thanks for any help.
  13. I was shooting single stack for a few years with all of my mags behind the hip bone. I started shooting limited and changed my setup so I had the belly button mag with the angle. It was a good idea in theory. When I dry fired it seemed faster. During an actual match, I would look down at the end of the stage and the belly button mag was still there and the mag on my hip was always gone. I went ahead and just changed it back. I don't notice any difference in speed at a match.

    Gen 4 mag well

Dawson Precision makes magwells compatible with the different back straps. I haven't tried one yet but it's on my shopping list. I've been using the gen 4 medium beaver tail back strap and it fits my hand really well. I agree that the small just does not feel right.
  15. You could look into Keens. I have Fred Flinstone feet and they fit me well.
  16. Because you and your friends are already lifting weights regularly I would suggest doing a plyometrics day once a week or so. Doing some of the jumping plyometrics will help with your explosiveness and allow you to transition faster. Plyometric push-ups will also help with recoil control because you can really work your serratus anterior. With the weight training, making sure you have a good balance of push vs. pull workouts is also very beneficial.
  17. I am a big fan of The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf.
  18. Staying away from the carbs will be your best bet. When you eat carbs they are digested quickly (even the whole grains) and they can cause problems with elevating your insulin levels. Eating something that is more fat/protein oriented will keep you satiated longer and doesn't have much effect on insulin. Some almonds or beef jerky are usually my go to snacks. Having a breakfast that is light on the carbs will keep you feeling full longer and prevent the cravings later on.
  19. An update to the beretta base pads search. I got a hold of some Roger Sherman Mousetraps and they worked great. With mecgar tubes and no tinkering I can get 17 reloadable. I will be leaving the magazines loaded so the spring will take a set and I am going to try using a push through die to make sure my brass is perfect and hopefully I will get 18 reloadable. Now I just need to find a good magwell.
  20. I am talking about the extensions. I wanted to use my beretta for limited division so I am looking for more capacity. I had heard there are people getting 18 in the sig X5 magazines. I know the base pads for sig magazines will fit onto the beretta magazines I just don't know if they will still be under the 140mm length limit. Thanks for the help.
  21. A double action trigger pull is pretty easy to dry fire practice. Just get a snap cap and practice a smooth pull with your weak hand. Cocking the hammer seems like it could be easily missed and then you still have to do a double action pull with the weak hand anyway.
  22. Has anyone tried base pads for non Beretta guns with Beretta magazines? I know the width and depth of the Beretta 96 magazine is the same as a Sig 226, small frame Tanfoglio, Springfield XD, or a CZ sp-01. If I used a base pad for one of these other guns would it still be within the 140mm length limit for USPSA limited division? Does anyone know off hand or do I need to go to the local gun shop and start comparing magazines?
  23. The five fingers are a good choice for running and general fitness. I like the added proprioception the thin soles offer.
  24. I was looking at the Henning website and noticed that the small frame Tanfoglio magazines are the same dimensions as the Beretta 96 in width and depth. Does anyone know what the length of the small frame Tanfoglio magazine tubes are? I would like to get some magazine extensions so I am trying to figure out if the Henning extensions will make the Beretta magazines too long for limited division or not.
  25. I am a lefty and I have been using the C&S release for about two years. Its a great release. The release on the right side of the grip is actually a lever that you push down on and it pulls the mag release out.
