Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. NC...I did exactly the same thing. Glad you figured it out. The other "gotcha" that I had was the direction the powder bar activation rod (if that is even close to the correct terminology) was fed thru the "butterfly" mechanism at the base of the powder station. If it was fed thru in the wrong direction it would snag and cause a sticky point in the operation. I swung that around and no issues since. Regards, Pooleman
  2. I ordered the BladeTech DOH from Shooters Connection yesterday, along with a bunch of other goodies . Got a discount for being a BE forum member and they filled and shipped the order already. +1 on the holster and +1 on Shooters Connection.
  3. All, I just placed an order for the Project Rudy Rydon kit...5 different lenses and a carry case. I found a thread on here that details a promotion code for Project Rudy (2alpha) and it knocked almost $100 off the price. If you are considering a purchase of Project Rudy don't forget to use the code and save yourself a bit of cash. I think you even get a free hat out of the deal as well. FWIW... Regards,
  4. Thanks for info fellas. Awful nice of you. John PM Sent.DaninSC I'm not sure I could make it down there by 6:30. I work in North Charlotte and traffic heading your way stinks in the afternoon. I may have to give it a shot one day. Do you have anyone else from CLT that does that commute? What route do they take?JFlowers PM SentDirtyWhiteBoy...thanks for the link. I've bookmarked. Regards, Pooleman
  5. Howdy all, I have just recently re-entered the "shooting" world. I grew up shooting black powder muskets with my dad (some long number of years ago) but hadn't had any recent shooting fun...that is until: I went and purchased my first "modern" gun...a FNP-9 about 2.5 months ago. Found a USPSA match in Statesville, NC, about 1 month ago. Man I've been having a blast (only a little pun intended). Getting the gun and going to the range with my sons was cool all in it's own right, but finding that match was AWESOME! I had read a lot of information on this site that gave me a good idea of what to expect. I took the advise to go early and help do the set up. Keep in mind at this point all I had was my pistol and some ammo...no holster or mag pouch or anything else. I went just to see what it was all about and figured the "get there early and help" advice was wise even if I wasn't planning to shoot. I took my son with me. We both had the best day in recent memory. The people were very nice to us...very friendly. I helped set up, explained that I was new to this and wanted to see what it was all about. I got there at like 10:30 am for a 1pm shoot. My boy had a great time helping out and just running around in general. We assisted in the setup and got a good idea of how things would work as a result. When the match got close, a couple of the guys asked if I planned to shoot and if I had brought my pistol. I of course had, but explained that I didn't have a holster or anything. Everyone was quick to round up the appropriate gear and get me on the firing line that day. I had the best dang time...I took it very slow (as my scores can attest) and was primarily concerned with safety but it was so much fun. I'm hooked! I have ordered my CR Speedbelt, a Blade-tech holster and a couple dual mag pouches and am ready to give it another try this coming weekend. I'm not entirely thrilled with the holster, but I'll post about that separately. I just wanted to introduce myself, tell you all Thank You for all the great information on the site, and relate how nice all the folk I ran into in Statesville were. I really appreciate it all. I'm already plotting my next pistol purchase (I'll let my son run my current pistol...he's 13) and figuring out how to work a re-load setup into the mix without divorce. Thanks Again... Pooleman
  6. I think that BW edition has the SRT (Short Reset Trigger) as standard. Not saying more trigger work may not be warranted...just that it has a shorter reset than the standard 226 (I think). Regards, Pooleman
  7. GNG, I'm really new to the sport...just getting started...but I'm in Charlotte, NC and found a couple web site that lists a bunch of matches. I can't vouch for them being "classifiers" but you can probably figure it out from the web sites. NC Section - http://www.ncsection.org/ SC USPSA - http://www.southcarolina-uspsa.org/ I hope this helps. Good luck. Pooleman
