  1. I called and convinced them to send me a firing pin and spring a few months ago. At first they said they could not give/sell them to me (gunsmith only story). I said I used the gun in competition and needed the parts for an upcomming match (true), and that I had the gun apart and didn't want to put it back together with the bad parts. the nice lady went off the phone for a moment and came back and said she "checked" and she could send me the spring then while taking my info she said she would be sending me a spring and pin . Seems like we (benos members) could get a gunsmith to buy part for us? I would buy some spares. David E.
  2. "25 gr Tac, 2.25 OAL" This I'm thinking this is near 2800fps but can't remember exactly, matches Hornady "Steel Match 55gr" POI from my 16" Armalite .middy.
  3. For those with 6x, do you think it allows you to see your hits on distant steel, say a 400yd MGM, and move on before waiting for the hit call?
  4. I think you are reading the load data wrong. The 9% is the reduction in velocity for a 16" barrel compared to the test barrel length=24" 1/12 twist. I use 25.0 TAC which closely matches Hornady 55gr Steel match from my gun (16"). Another bit of info; the first data is for non-nato weapons i.e. 223, in the next column there is data for Bolt action/Nato weapons that if you have a 5.56 NATO chambered weapon you can safely use. With my 16" mid gas Armalite it takes 24.5 to cycle reliably. While not mandatory a chrono will help you tune your load. Without a chrono I would suggest doing what I did; pick a factory load to duplicate. Shoot and sight in using the factory load say 200 yard zero 55gr. Then load some ammo, within the load data specs to achieve the same point of impact (POI) This way you can shoot your reloads or factory ammo without having to worry about your zero. There is a chance the zero will shift in windage but when using the same bullet weight and design 55gr FMJ(BT) it is less likely.
  5. If your goal is to be close to factory 124-125gr defensive loads this seems a little light to me. Of course a reloading manual is the first place to get this info, followed by chrono. 1.115 OAL: I don't recall exactly but my M+P 9 FS needs a shorter OAL than my Glock 34. I would just chamber check the first round befor loading 30.
  6. I just installed the RTS rear with an A2 front with a FO post and used this setup with a Burris 2-7 at the FNH match. My zero is 100 yds for both. The XS are lower than the RTS/A2 height and that seems to be a problem. I think they are a good option for TO if you want a higher magnification scope like a 2-7 or 3-9.
  7. Dang, looks like I'm in trouble now! Hitting the road tomorrow in the AM! Hope to be there by noon. David E.
  8. Last year, yes all within 50 yards I would say. Most stages I would carry the long gun from my truck to the rack and grab my pistol size bag with pistol, ammo, etc. Sometimes a long gun case was useful if rack space was not avalable and you needed to lay the long gun on the ground/against a berm. This year I will do the same but will bring a folding chair. I'm leaving my jogger at home, not needed unless things have changed. I don't remember seeing any joggers last year, not worth the effort. I would bring a chair and a shade umbrella befor a jogger. David E.
  9. In a discussion on slugs in a 2 Aug post in this thread: Pro rifle discussion; "thinking 300-350 for MGM Flashers, not sure untill steel is set" Not sure if there is an update. David E.
  10. I spent about an hour shooting flying shooting AT flying clays trying to prep for Stage PRO #6. I also spent time shooting 2 plates, loading 2, shooting 2; no way I can do this with a 2 second interval shooting 1 flying clay then 1steel, I need 4 seconds at best. Reset my goal for this stage; shoot the 10 flying clays and not worry about the steel, load at least 2 shells to keep from going dry (more would be better). Then just load/shoot to finish the steel. Looks like my best bet especially if the flying clay misses are 10 seconds! Leaving the north east tomorrow after work, should be there late Wed and plan to watch the ROs shoot and check my rifle zero. Can't wait! David E.
  11. Hard to tell from pic. Lookslike piston spring is scraping the tube. Does the piston go on the tube easy when not in the barrel. David E.
  12. I will be at the PRO/AM this year also. I plan to talk to the Nordic guys to see if they have any interest in making/sourcing an extra power spring for the shell holder. While they won't make any cash off of it, it would reduce customer complaints about hand loading. See you there. Wish they could post the squad assignments and squad/stage schedule before the match. David E.
  13. I wachted it. As a shooter I wanted to know the distances, some camera angles made it look close, some far. On the practice range it seemed they were shooting out to about 100yds which for a non-shooter would be a challenge. I too was surprised that they didn't think to ask; hey can you gays/gals swim? I mean swim with gear? For shooters and especally military it will be like a cop watching a cop show; we will pick it apart. I guess it came in second to "Hell Hotel" on fox. David E.
  14. So last year I shot AM and was way, way, way down on the prize table random draw and I still got great stuff. This year sounds even better, well except that I'm shooting on the PRO side so I might be a good ways down on the list again. I've got room in my trailer for one of those safes and can save Buds some shipping cost as long as it's under about 3000#. David E.
  15. Hornady Steel Match My link 9mm is loaded to make minor. About $18 to 20 per box of 50 My link David E.
  16. Another stupid rule question; can we "burn" rounds? Specifically with the shotgun? IF so any associated rules like; into a berm, greater than X distance from the shooter, etc.? Thanks, Getting close, can't wait, David E.
  17. Last year you signed up for the Pro Clinics at registration. If I remember correctly the side matches were mostly walk-in and little to no cost. If the schedule is the same as last year there are gaps (fake sqauds) inserted into the schedle to allow you time to shoot side matches, watch other stages, get a bit to eat, I even went back to my hotel once. For sure, it was very well organized/planned and all the info should be avalalble at registration. Can't wait! David E.
  18. Well I'm thinking if Benny did it it's good to go, would still like to know the length past the end of the extension. When you push the bolt release the shell holder spring is not as involved in releasing the shell/moving the holder as when the action cycles which relies on the shell holder spring to overcome the friction of the shell holder tip on the shell. Sounds like something is causing increased friction in the shell holder mechanism or possibly the shell holder spring is weak/broken. How does the shell holder spring feel when pushing the bolt release and when pushing from inside the receiver directly? I would call Benny if he doesn't chim in here.
  19. What mag tube/spring do you have? If its a Nordic, what lenght is it cut to?
  20. Does it matter how full the mag tube is when this happens? How does it hand cycle? What mag tube/extension does it have and how long is the spring? The point being, if mag tube spring/shell pressure is too high on the shell catch then it makes it hard to hand cycle and in extreme cases will fail to feed. Check this thread for some info on hand cycling. My link Another possibility is that the shells are catching on the transition from the mag tube extension to the mag tube. When you unload the mag tube by hand using the bolt release button, do the shells ever hang up? David E.
  21. Go for it! Hopefully they will concentrate on form to avoid injury and scale as needed. I was really sore after my intro, air squats destroyed my legs, hurt to walk, move, or even sleep. While the workouts won't get any easier you will improve and if you are like me you will go through -excitement to dread to acceptance/looking forward to the workouts. Besides CrossFit (and I think it goes hand in hand with working out), I think the best thing Ive done is improve my diet, the Zone mostly veggies and lean meat, some fruit & nuts, no added sugar/salt. Wow do I feel better!!!!! I'm a previous soda addic, haven't had one in almost 12 weeks, tried to drink one on a "cheat" meal and could not get past the first sip. David E.
  22. The number of scores used in the points/ranking has been added to the range log site My link! Helps determine who is really near the top using averages. David E.
  23. Are coupled mags allowed in Tac Optics? From the rules: Or are couple mags considered supporting devices? I searched this thread but could not find an answer. David E.
