  1. All good suggestions but this one first: "Undercut the trigger guard for a higher grip hold & round off the bottom of the guard to minimize "Glock forefinger" but keep the width."
  2. I get about 100 fps faster with Bayou over MG.
  3. Black out the "35" on the side of your slide or get a unmarked LW slide. Is that legal?
  4. Ok Robin at Taylor-Freelance contacted me and this is a summary of what he wrote . . . Option 1:He has a few aluminum +0s based on an older, longer pattern (he shortened the design to fit into the IPSC "Standard" box years ago). He machined one of those out last night and got a very reasonable +2 (as tested). He thought he could likely create a few of those, BUT by machining them down and removing the internal locking system, the only "locking system" is a couple of worn plastic bumps bearing on a sloped piece of aluminum. The part will come off under stress. Option 2: That older part leaves about 3mm of room un-used. It's probably not enough to get +3 in .40, but another mm or so would make +2 fit easily. He said he would custom-make a set for me, with a locking system, but that's more expensive. He's pretty confident he can get 24.5 rounds in a mag. Sound's good to me. That last half round takes some tension off and should eliminate those dreaded FTE's I get when I stuff my mags full. Robin said he could work on them in a week or two so I ordered two. He also added that he has a few different ideas he'd like to try out on the locking system. We'll find out what they are and how they'll work soon. This is an interesting post by MarkCO in the "21 rounds in a 40 Glock" thread, hope it isn't true. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138756&view=findpost&p=1579923 Even if you can get a 24 rounds in a Glock .40 mag with a 8+ pad, I prefer the Taylor Freelance solution as the mag is long enough that you don't have to worry about the transition of the follower between mag and pad. Robin told me the OEM spring is quite stout so you won't have to worry about the follower hanging up or buy a different spring. Lastly, you don't have to Cram that last round into the mag and risk a FTF. Cheers
  5. Can't use a +8 as it will surely violate the 170 mm mag length rule. I'm fully aware of that. I'm just addressing the OP's question. I knew that.
  6. There is no transition point/seam between the mag body and the base pad/floor plate for the bullet to hang on. Also you don't need a different spring as the Glock 22 round is pretty stout as it is. You may also get a little extra room and not have to cram the last round in thus decreasing the likelihood of FTF's. Finally don't dismiss the coolness factor. At my age I don't worry about coolness factor, I just want it to work. Besides I am on a budget that you are likely paying for. Military retirement and social security. Which I'll gladly and thankfully pay.

  9. I was that customer that sent a sample mag to Robin at Taylor Freelance! It shipped on 11/25 he should be getting it in the next day or two. It would be sweet if one or two more rounds would fit in the brass model, except I don't want one I want three! Anyone else interested? BTW: I already have the +5 brass basepad and it has a metal backplate with two screws which IMHO is quite easy to dissemble.
  10. http://www.brianenos...dpost&p=1261341 SWEET! Thanks Kevin btw: Kevin are you still shooting that gun? Could you update that thread? That is not mine. That was a thread I remembered reading last year. I do know he was able to remove it with no ill effects. Good luck. Ok thanks Kevin had a senior moment there sorry. Nice to hear that it can be removed with no ill effects.

  12. Hmmmm, that sounds good. Lay something on the grip for fill it out and allow the rubber slip on to smooth out the rough spots. Thanks!
  13. Thanks guys but I don't want and can't afford another/different gun. I just want a different grip which doesn't sound like major surgery to me since this type of work is done to many competition guns. I just want to add not remove grip and was wondering if anyone knew how, of anyone that has done it or suggestions. Still the suggestions to go look at the different Glocks maybe useful for shaping purposes and I thank you not to mention it "Black Friday" and who doesn't want to go to the gun store on "Black Firday?"
  14. I'd NEVER buy this gun, EVER! It's probably been built by the best and it's already won a national title and is undoubtedly tuned to perfection. So if I owned this gun I'd have no more excuses or anything other than myself to blame as to why I suck so badly.
  15. I have fairly big or maybe they're just long hands and long skinny fingers as such the only places on a G35 my hands seem to come in contact with the grip is my middle knuckle with the front strap and the front part of the heel of my thumb with the rear strap. Nothing in between comes in solid contact with the grip, that bugs me. I'd love to have my whole hand in contact with the grip. I'm sorta new at this so I don't even know if this common and I've only shoot maybe a couple other guns before and had the same problem Beretta 96F, PX4 Storm, 1911 a long time ago and a Open .38 SuperComp something or the other. Doesn't seem right to me to do a grip reduction so my questions . . . 1) anyone else experience this and is it normal? 2) can I use a black poly body filler, use it to round the sides of the grip (fatten) so I can still shoot left handed then cover with skateboard tape? Got a linky? 3) any other suggestions? I have tried a Hogue grip on a limited G35 and that seems to help a little and I've tried the Grip Force beavertail on my Open G35 and that helped a little. Combining both looks to be a real biach and finally I hate the finger grooves. Any suggestions other than buy a different gun?
  16. I use the Taylor-Freelance brass floor-plate and I can get 19 in one and 20 in the other. The 20 round mag will not reload unless at slidelock. I like them because of the additional weight the brass gives me. I suppose if I knew someone with a mill they could take a few hundreds off the bottom of the floor-plate and get me to 20 rounds with no FTF problems but I'm going to Open and Glock makes a 165mm 22 round mag now. I talked to Robyn at Taylor-Freelance and sent him a mag, he's looking into slightly modding a bling floor-plate to see if an extra round or two can be added without breaking the Open 170mm mag length rule. I'll post a thread when I know. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
  17. I just installed mine a few days ago. Had to really tap it into place, so maybe you had a dud... Thanks for that heads up though as I haven't shot with it yet. when it rains...sorry for all your issues. Just got back from Cabo the fishing was good but I didn't put many on the boat and just like taking my wife to the range she won't be going with me fishing much anymore! That little asian girl can fish! Thanks for the heads up on a firm tap needed to set the slide racker. I'll try that next. Just picked up a CR Speed WSM 2 holster and Super Hi-Torque belt. Can't wait, once again, to get all my stuff back so I can try them out. I did like the 12.9 MOA amber triangle especially on partially covered targets and long range shots. At medium range I just put the whole triangle on the A zone and squeeze. p.s. I have a fairly large hand with skinny fingers. As such when I grip my G35 I only have a grip on the front strap with my fingers and the back strap with the bottom portion of the palm of my hand and thumb, just under my knuckles and about a 1.5-2 inches down does not contact the grip at all. Any suggestions?
  18. I've walked into a big pile of doo putting this together. Trijicon, IMHO, has tripped over they're two left feet, read my posts above to get up to speed. Last Friday the RMR RM08, a Dual Illuminated 12.9 MOA amber triangle made it to my door. Trij sent it over night, But Trij in their hurry to get this to me before the competition on Sunday didn't do a through QC/inspection and once again I got a defective unit. It's not a big deal and it can still be shot but the bottom right hand corner of the triangle is either missing or distorted. OK, so what right? But dang it, if it starts out defective it ain't going to get better and with the way my luck has been the rest of the triangle will probably distort or disappear altogether. That's not all! The cool little charging handle was also defective, at least that's my best guess. The fit was a bit off or just plain sloppy and it slide down enough to block the slide from completely sliding forward and chambering a round! "Click!" Scratch one stage. SO IF you order one make sure it fits snug and slides into the groove completely. Trij sent another RAN number I'll be sending this one back soon. At least their customer service seems to be somewhat on the ball.
  19. Okay, after raising a bit of a fuss Trijicon has decided to allow me to have the Dual Illuminated version, But now I'm stuck on which reticle to get the 7 MOA amber dot or the 12.9 MOA amber triangle. lsr1238 hit the nail on the head with the "too many options" comment.
  20. The Bobro QD mechanism is the best in the field. It will detach from one rifle and mount to a different rifle/picatinny rail without adjustment and be rock solid tight. Also the "return to zero" is within 1/2 to 1 MOA.
  21. Sorry for slacking on this. Here's the deal so far. Got the 1st RMR Dual Lumi from Mounting Solution's. DOA, sent it back for a RMR RM02 8 MOA red dot, DOA. Don't know what the deal is with Mounting Solutions, good prices, good/friendly service, WTF? Are they buying warranty returns or something? Any how finally got a RMR RM02 that worked, DON"T TURN THE RETICLE ADJUSTMENT TO FAR WITH THE SIGHT UNMOUNTED!!! How do I know this, don't ask. How do you know what's too far? I don't know, by the time I figured that out I had turned it too far. By doing so I pushed the bottom of the adjustment screw out and I had to futz with it to get it back in. After that the gears would sometimes slip afterwards when I was trying to zero it. Bought and had the first Lone Wolf slide milled at LW, $125.00 but if you look back at my pictures and several of the posts around # 3 or 4 you can see that I didn't think much of their milling. I sent it back, they wouldn't change their milling procedure so I asked them to exchange the slide for a new unmilled slide. Which Lone Wolf did and returned my $125.00 charge for the milling. Thank you Lone Wolf! I'll be back. I sent the new slide into Glockworx. The milling cost $165.00 but much nicer fit, (curve front, tight tolerances, and raised screw hole post to lock the RMR down tight! That just leaves the problems with the RMR, not to sure I'm that thrilled with the RMR yet. At first, it kept winking out, Trijicon made a suggestion to manually bend the battery tabs for better contact. It still gave me trouble, winking on and off. Sent it in and Trijicon replaced the internals and I think the gear's because no mo problem with skipping while adjusting the reticle. Fairly quick service and friendly people. After getting it back, I put a Lone Wolf .40 S&W barrel with Nickel compensator on it. About 500 shots later, in the middle of a competition it winked out again this time no tapping or adjusting the tightness of the mounting screws seemed to work. It was dead. Another call to Trijicon, they suggested I tape the area under the RMR to prevent shorting the battery, Oh joy, I have to do addition modifications to my $450 sight just to get it to work? Called Trij back the next day after unmounting the sight and finding it was dead, explained that I didn't like this sight anymore and would/could they exchange it for the Dual Illumination? Nope. OK how about a RAN number so I can send it back in for repair ASAP as I have another competition coming up soon. Sure no problem get online and do it yourself, grrrrrr, a little over a day later and I get a RAN number via email. After that I asked Jimmy the Service Supervisor how long it would take to repair. He said they probably wouldn't repair but just send me out a new one since this one had been in twice already! OK, that's sweet, but if thats the case why couldn't they exchange it for the Dual Illumination? I'd pay the difference if any. Nope. Oh what the hell, finally, what if I give trij the tracking number and my credit card number and they could cross ship me the new one now and I'd be ready for competition this sunday? Nope. <rant off> I'm done for now. Oh BTW when it works I really like it!
  22. Try Amazon.com $29.95 http://www.amazon.com/ATI-Tactical-Reloading-Cocking-Charging/dp/B004KM1WT2 I've been having a few problems getting my RMR to stay on. Seems if you tighten too much the sight shorts out, when I back it off a wee bit it works fine. But that wee bit makes me think it'll come loose so I put red locktite on it. It didn't seem to me to be too tight, this is the second time, after I sent it in to Trijicon.
  23. I just recently got through loading some rounds for my G35. MTGld 180gr JHP Hodgdon HS-6 6.3 grains Various brass Winchester Small Pistol OAL 1.12 it got me avg 922fps on my CED Chrono and a power factor of 166. That's a real thin margin so I think I'll add a couple tenths more, call it 6.5 grains and call it good. Altitude was appx 600 ft., temp around 70ish and humaditty was 45+. Hope that helps. oops didn't even see the request for Clays sorry. My load for Clays was 3.1 but that was coming out at about 128PF so next time I'll add a couple tenths more also. Don't use Clays for Major and I have about 2.5 pounds left also. After that meh, I don't know what i'll use but with all the warnings I've heard why bother? Unless you can't get anything else. Everything else was same as above. Keep a close eye on the charge if you're using Clays it doesn't fill the case much and it's easy to over look. In my experience even if you double charge Clays it's hard to spot so I use . . . HS-6 it fills the case almost half full and is easy to see as do some of the other's mention I'd imagine. But dang in the days it was hard getting a hold of powder Clays was available and you could make a lot of boolits with just one pound!
