This also happened to me. This extractor problem is caused by the Extractor not grabbing the tip of the case hence when the slides goes back it is just barely touching the case and ejecting it half way and causing a Jam. Rupture you mentioned that there is not enough tension and I experienced this as well.
All of this issues started after I replaced my old Extractor to a brand new extractor. I also replaced it with brand new extractor spring. Someone mentioned to me that I might not have enough tension on my extractor causing for the case not to eject properly. To prove that this is what is causing my issues, I removed the slide and put a round or case into the spot where the extractor claw holds the tip of the case and guess what, it is just barely catching the case and there was no tension at all to grab the case.
I compared my old extractor to the new one and I noticed that they not quite identical. The new one needed some piling in the body of the extractor where it touches the slide. I think Cha-Lee mention it as a Travel Nub. Once you pile this portion you will see some tension to grab the round.
This seems to resolve my issue and no issues so far.
