  1. If the brass insert did not fit well you may have a Gen 3 insert. The first one I got for a Gen 4 was packaged and labeled as Gen 4 but just didn't fit right. I tried it on a Gen 3 frame and it was a perfect drop in fit. Once it was replaced with the correct Gen 4 insert it was also an easy drop in fit. Once you install the magwell depending of what mag extensions you use (if) you may have to dermal a relief notch to clear the screw to allow the mags to seat easily.
  2. My experience when I ended up to light was the bolt bouncing back and then not fully closing again. This resulted in the occasional failure to fire with a light dent on the primer. When the hammer would fall it would close the bolt but not have enough energy to ignite the primer. This would only happen 1 in 75 shots. It took me a while to track it down but once I raised the buffer weight up the problem went away.
  3. This works well to unload the magazine tube without chambering the rounds. The trick is to control the round as it comes out of the mag tube. When you push the lifter up hold your finger against the base of the shell in the tube. This way once you press the release you control the shell under spring tension before it can accelerate into your finger.
  4. This will be my first trip to RockCastle so I'm not familiar with the lay out of the range complex. I just looked at the map showing the locations of the stages and they appear to be a bit spread out. I rented one of the golf cart so the wife and kids could use the vehicle and do the vacation thing while I shoot. Are you able to travel to all the stages by golf cart or is a car needed to get to some of them? Tom
  5. One other problem I've had with rifle case sizing that had the same symptoms as you describe was caused by my expander ball. I had the die set and all was working fine with thin wall comm. brass but when I would use thick wall lake city or other brass the headspace would be to long and stick in the chamber or case gage. What my problem was that after the shoulder was set back and the expander ball was pulled back out of the case it would stick and pull the shoulder out of spec again. I was able to ID this problem by sizing some cases after removing the expander ball from die and case and chamber checking them. I now size with redding F.L. dies that have changable neck bushings. I use one neck size for thin wall and one for thick wall. The casue is with thick wall brass the inside diameter is made small so there is more resistance when pulling the expander back out of the case. You can also help this problem with case lube on the inside of the neck. Tom
  6. I started running a KKM barrel in my Glock 34. When I first started running the reloads that had worked great in the factory barrel I started to have problems of the rounds not chambering fully or being stuck in the chamber when I would try to unload the gun. At first I thought my problem was the brass was not sized small enough for the chamber but what I found my problem to be was the shorter leade to the lands in the barrel rifling. The bullet was getting jammed into the rifling. After lots of messing around with trying to size the cases smaller all I needed to do was seat the bullets deeper. I had the most trouble with 124 FP do to the shape and angle of the nose. Not sure if this may be your problem but I can run my relaods in the KKM with standard sizing as long as I keep the bullet out of the rifling. Tom
