I think that's a pretty good idea. Get what you need to load 9mm, learn the ins and outs of pistol reloading... then proceed to rifle. Curious, how much 9mm do you shoot a month normally? You might find a 550 will more than meet your needs. Not trying to push you one way or the other.. I have a 650 and love it, but honestly.. I could probably get by w/ a 550 no problem.

You also need a .223 caliber conversion kit. The Deluxe Quick change kit, has more to do with the dies and the powder measure. The caliber conversion kit, is the shell plate, locator buttons, etc.. so you can use your .223 brass.

Ahh yes..... So do I need the 223 caliber conversion or the deluxe quick change kit? Im confused. Can I make a suggestion... cancel this order, and do some reading on BE's FAQ's, so you can come to a conclusion of not only what equipment you need, but what you need to run that equipment. The Deluxe Caliber conversion... is not the caliber conversion... It's a "Deluxe Quick Change" kit.. which includes a toolhead stand, powder measure, and toolhead. You need a caliber conversion (ie, shell plate, locator buttons, etc.). That.. you will absolutely need. After that, you probably *want* a toolhead(about $40). Otherwise, you'll have to constantly reset your dies as you share a toolhead between 9mm and .223. You talking about you don't want to buy stuff you don't need, etc.. but you really need to research this purchase a bit. Dillon makes top notch stuff, but buying to much is almost as bad as buying not enough.

So Dillon is Ford Blue. Is Hornady Ferrari Red? I'm confused... Call Dillon... If you try to match the blue (either to repaint your press, or paint objects to match it) they will tell you the color is "Ford Blue"

You won't be sorry you did! Buy a 650. Lifetime no BS warranty and caliber changes are much less expensive. Pat Much less expensive than what?

Another fairly new user here (almost a month).... I've had no issues with the spent primer system. I think it has something to do w/ stability of the press(or bench) rather than a flaw w/ the spent primer system. The spent primer system is fairly simple, and if everything is stable, primers should hit the cup w/o issue. Like the OP, I've had zero problems that weren't minor setup issues. Those minor issues, after I just went over everything again, I found the problem. Its more then that cause my press does not move. My bench is screwd to wall Not saying there isn't more to it... I just don't understand how I've yet to get a single primer on the floor. LOL.. Yeah, thats pretty bad. You should have been able to tell it wouldn't fit by looking at the pictures.

I don't know about the 1000, but the 1050 doesn't have a Lifetime Warranty. I have no idea why you'd consider this a moral/ethical problem... Call Dillon, and see what they say. They might give you a good deal on a 1050 if you trade in the 1000... who knows. Or are you looking to get out of this at no cost? I like the 1050s but there is something about the "cradle to grave" warranty on the other presses that I like.

Which means that putting the bullet in the case and seating it are 2 different stations? as far as i know, the only machine that inserts and seats at the same station is the GSI feeder. The Lee does it too but as GSI as well as Lee dont work with a LNL both are a no go You might be able to get the Lee Bullet feeder to work on the LNL. There's a video floating around where someone fitted a Lee bullet feeder onto a 650. I think the only "modification" required, was drilling/tapping a small hole in the ram, and using an L-bracket to pull the rod on the Lee feeder. I think it's on this forum somewhere... but I imagine you could do the same thing to an LNL.
