I have shot thousands of federal sm and lrg primers, I know federal are the "softest" primers, Vanek suggests Federals with his triggers. Most shot thru my G35 with OEM barrel. No issue with deep strikes. All be it a 40 vs 9mm, and different loads. I know the longer and different barrel, G19 OEM vs G35 conversion barrel to 9mm will have different PF's and velocities. I guess I wondering if any ones else shoots 147gr Bayou bullets with N320 and if their brass looks like mine did???

Yes they are federal primers, not sure of the PF. Same ammo from my stock G19 was 123.3 PF a month earlier, no issues with deep strikes on primers

I have a G35 with a LWD 9mm conversion barrel that I just shot 50ish rnds of my reloads thru, just got it back from LWD after I had them ream the chamber to Glock OEM specs. The loads were 147gr Bayou bullet over 3.1gr N320, and 124gr Bayou Bullet over 4.0grs. I noticed about 60% of the primers were flat, and of those a good deal of them had what I thought were deeper than normal primer strikes. I have a Vanek classic trigger in my G35, I did shoot 10 of my 40 rnds compare primer strikes, the 40s looked normal. Help would be appreciated.

I like 155gr moly bullets, currently Bayou bullets. Chad is correct, they can be a very soft shooting in the 130PF range.

I'm not shooting a STI, but a G35. I load 155gr Bayou bullets with 3.2gr Clays. Comes out to just a hair above a 130 PF. I forgot to mention, I shoot the same load from my P.16; 1.80OAL.

Just a question, 3.3gr of Clays under a 180gr moly bullet, seems too little to make major and too much for minor. How did you come to the 3.3gr load? I shoot a 155gr moly over 3.2 gr of Clays. Comes out to about 128.7PF from a stock barrel, I was thinking of getting a LWD barrel. I've got 10K+ thru the original barrel, mostly plated some moly. I think it's time for new barrel.

Woodrow, I dont really remember why I went to 3.7 from 3.6gr. 3.7gr is still minor, I shoot IDPA; so not so much major & minor PFs back and forth. I have for the most part shot all the 155 plated bullets I had, now working with some Precision bullets. From them, I have some 155gr and 185gr; for the 155gr I was going to start with 3.3 grs and 2.8 for the 185gr. Those loads should but me close to where I want to be, chrono them and make adjustments as needed. Once I get them chrono'ed I post results. Remember plated, moly and lead shoot differently, as do different barrels.

Hey all, I have been enjoying 3.7grs with a Rainer 155gr. I'm now going to start with 2.8gr behind a Precision 185gr. Thanks for all of your feedback.

You might want to look into the Hogue X frame grips, they completely cover the back strap with about .25" of rubber. They fit K-X frame guns. I have them on my 625 and love them. Get them thru S&W webstore.

I have the Dillon plastic roller handle on my LNL and love it, I think the aluminum would be even better. You just have to really crank down on the nut to ensure the handle remains snug.

Thanks all, I know Clays is a good powder and once I have adjusted how I operate making it more consistent I will go back to using it. Do you take "special" precautions when loading with Clays? Like graphite in the powder reservoir? Or wiping the reservoir with a dryer sheet to reduce static, to allow for better powder drops, etc.....

Gotta question, anyone (and I know some are) using Clays for .40 S&W minor or IDPA loads? Currently I’m loading a 155gr Rainer over 3.6grs of Clays. Out of by G35 it gives me about a 131PF. I load on a Lee Load Master, which has its own issues and problems (a number of them). Anyways, last batch I loaded some were charged with VERY light loads, some in the 2.0gr range. I know this because I when to classify last weekend and had several “pops”. Two of them left the barrel and bullet struck the target, the third did not leave the barrel. At that point I quit for the day. Pulling all of the bullets now. My question, is Clays know to not work well with extremely light loading? I will be replacing the Lee with a Hornady LNL AP in a few months; I hope the Hornady does better with metering Clays. Who has or is using Clays from a LNL, please give me some feedback on that. I bought a 1640TJ about two years ago, at that time Para had a special for 3 mags for 75.00 shipped, so I bought 12 more mags. But they were the standard 1640 mags with the standard POS base pad. I called Para, they gave me the run around about not have the mags in stock and the pistol was being discontinued. So after email after email and call after call to them someone came up with 7 of the base pads used.... I took them, they were 99% condition. I even email TJ himself from his web site, I got his email. Got an answer, not sure if I was answered from him or a staffer of his. Either way, that was no help. I'm going the Dawson base pad route for the other 5 i need.

Anyone got a good load that makes 165 power factor? I'm thinking a 200gr rainer over 4.8gr's of bullseye should do it, plan to crono some tomorrow. Thanks

Yeh, I was called a sand bagging sharp shooter. I hand one failure to fire (super light primer strike) and more than a hand full of rounds than landed out of the -0 area, less powder in those than I thought. I am trying to get reclassified.

I shot the course this morning as well. Thought it was fun, the IDPA lays out constraints; just like any other sport. Hope to see how I did later this week.

All, thanks for the great feed back. I think I will hold off for now on getting a G34. I need to get from SS in ESP to EXP in ESP and SSP, that's where I will focus my head and $.

Thats what I was thinking. I have a LWD 9mm conv. barrel for it and a few g17 mags, not sport legal but that gave me the impression the recoil would be close or more than my current .40 S&W loads.

All things being equal, I have a G35 and shoot it in IDPA (ESP and SSP). I cut my loads down to about a 128PF. My question, would a load that makes PF in a G34 have the same approximate recoil as a G35, assuming they both have the same PF? So a 155gr .40 bullet moving at X to make Y PF and a 124 or 147gr 9mm moving at X to make Y power factor, would the recoil be noticeable different? I do want a G34, I have the cash for it, but that $ could be better spent right now........ Thanks

Yes, I know the OAL I put in was way off, I have been loading and trying out a lot of 40 ammo for my Para TJ160. That on needs the longer OAL, in my glocks I usually run some where in the 1.25ish range.

Thanks for the replys, I found at 4.3gr's on the 155gr bullet from my G35 I get about 138PF. Meets my needs for ESP in IDPA.

Does anyone have a good load made up for a 125 & 165 power factors. I’m shooting these from a G35. Right now I'm using a 155gr Rainer bullet with 4.3gr's of BE, at an OAL of 1.180ish. Thanks
