  1. I haven't found a rifle yet that won't shine with 25gr of Varget under a 69gr SMK. Some barrels shoot faster than others but it's my personal favorite.
  2. Foam probably, but not so sure the carbon soup that the foam creates wouldn't form a blockage and dry into a plug. I ask because the directions on the can say not to use on gas operated firearms.
  3. Has anyone had trouble with the foam causing a build up in the gas tube or gas port?
  4. ...should've gamed it and shot 'em all with the pistol, lol
  5. I always got choked up a little when it played, even in boot camp. There's probably something wrong with a guy who doesn't respect that sad tune.
  6. Those were some sick runs Nils. Thanks for posting the video, that stage 5 run was awesome. And again, sorry about the DQ. J.T.
  7. Try an assortment and buy in bulk when you find one that hits closest to your point of aim at the range you expect to shoot. Reduced recoil is what you want to start with. Most find they get much quicker follow up shots and you will appreciate that on say a 10 slug target array like we just had at the SMM3G. My Benelli likes the Federal LE127's for 100 yard targets and the slower Remington reduced recoil sluggers for the 50 yard stuff.
  8. Well, seeing as how we followed squad 2 for the match... Of course I have to thank the sponsors and match staff for a great match. Squad 13 was an honor to shoot with. Not only were you all great shooters, you were fun to be around and we re-set stages quicker than any other squad - guaranteed.
  9. I've had good results flattening a brass case and scraping with it on blued guns. You can contour them to the barrel or whatever your working on. Never had a hard chromed gun but I would imagine it would work.
  10. So even when they meet your ridiculous demands, they still get no credit from you for doing the right thing. Guess they made the wrong call and shoulda let you leave, huh? When you have a preconceived notion about someone's motivations, it's hard for you to interpret anything in any other light, isn't it? If by credit you mean total inability to run a business professionally and not a hint of caring until someone actually made a stand then sure I'll give them credit. I take it you have absolutely no idea what customer service is as well, government employee?
  11. I had the first appointment in the morning one time and after I saw the doctor walk in an hour late, I went to the front desk and demanded my co-pay back and left. The nurse called me on my way home to apologize and beg me to reschedule. I told her I would as long as they pay my wage for waiting on them and wouldn't you know it, they agreed. I guess my insurance paid well.
  12. It all depends on how much room is under the car. The last time I went roll-over prone on the right side, the very last round in the gun jammed. Luckily I was finished with the stage and saw it at ULSC. Most times regular prone is what's needed to clear the bottom of the car because the targets are too high on the other side. More important than the style of prone in that situation is making sure you don't run the gun dry, you'll wast like 5 sec trying to get another shell in there.
  13. I personally run with the plus 7. I find it gives a lot of flexibility to stage/reload planning. A lot of people base their tube length off of their barrel length but I don't mind the tube extending a couple of inches longer.
  14. Good ol' Daryl!! My 2nd most "hated" Top Shot contestant. The top honor goes to Sniper George who is the reason why I stopped watching the show! Luck for you, you didn't have to see the Navy Squeal. He was by far the worst contestant ever.
  15. I actually watched that frame by frame. She had some kind of revolver hold on the gun, definitely made it look like a 300 power factor.
  16. That's awesome. What an incredible amount of heart. I'll bet your stage times have shortened dramatically as well. Good for you man.
  17. Iain Harrison from season 1 was/is a real 3 gun competitor, but they didn't really promote him as such during that season. He was the most multifunctional shooter there and I'm glad he made it all the way through and won it. Those who have done the best are generalists with broad experience. The sidecar challenge was one by the fellow with the least experience with that rifle, but a better broad experience with things like shooting while moving (or moving targets). I think being mentally flexible and being willing to do the best with the situation presented to the competitors has a lot to do with it too. Competitors of only one discipline are often used to things always being a certain way in regards to the way skills are tested and can have a hard time adapting to different things. I agree and have wondered the same. Great pistol shooters usually make great 3 gunners as well. Solid front sight focus will get you good results with pretty much any weapon and you know these guys practiced with other weapons before the show so what gives? Over confidence? Guess I'll just continue to sit on the couch and make "I'd smoke these guys" comments, lol.
  18. I personally like the 20" barrel. It's heavy but I like the weight. My favorite part is that it's a fast barrel. I can easily get over 3000fps with very light loaded 62grain bullets and my long range 69grainers are lasers. I find the extra speed to be dramatic on activators and hold overs are easier. As always, it's a matter of opinion but like Mark said you can always cut it down.
  19. Got mine for Valentine's Day... woohoo. I got her an LMT M4 a couple of years ago for Valentine's Day - the perfect marriage, lol.
  20. Wow, only one vote for MGM so far? Their stuff is awesome and they do a ton to support the sport.
  21. I was at an Area match couple of years ago, when a GM came through our squad and shot the COF we were shooting. My take on it: It was exciting to watch a GM shoot the COF, and I relaxed and enjoyed the exhibition. Since then, I've shot with the same GM on his squad, twice, and love to watch him shoot - very nice guy, and I appreciate the opportunities to watch him do his magic:) No one on my squad seemed to mind the 5 minutes it took for him to scope out the COF and shoot it... I've been to other matches where the GM's are clustered on one squad - that's fun to watch also. Jack It never hurts to see how the best plan their stages either.
  22. If you find it does dip too far for your liking with the ammo you're using, you can always open the top ports a few drill bit sizes at a time until you find the sweet spot. It will depend on the ammo you use and your personal preference. It's kind of like switching recoil springs, everyone likes something different. Some, if not most, of the top pros in 3 gun even drill additional holes in their comps.
  23. Spend the $3 to replace the gas rings then go from there. They will wear out eventually anyway so it's basic maintenance even if it doesn't prove to be the issue. From there I would do as recommended earlier and check the new trigger/hammer assembly for excessive drag. Edited to add hammer assembly... Thanks Trapr
  24. The par time on that apparently is only adjustable in one second intervals. Does that work for you? Yes it only has one second intervals but if it picks up the hammer falling then you will know what your time was to the hundredth.
