Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have a wedding planned for that weekend. LaRue puts on an awesome match, sorry I will miss it.
  2. During my (squad 3) stage briefing the RO made it obvious that gaming the stage would have penalties, severe if necessary. He illustrated an example about a shooter obviously and intentionally flubbing the weak side shots and shooting 4 on the strong side shots. I am a relatively new competitive shooter and never once did I feel that if I had to make up a shot that I would be DQed or face penalties. What the RO alluded to was that obvious gaming of the stage and not making an effort on the weak side shooting would not be tolerated. I made up several shots om that stage that I thought were flubs. Other stages had obvious gaming opportunities, like stage 8. On the rifle targets, considerable time could have been made up if all shots did not have to be taken on one target at a time. For example, I could have put two into the chest of each target and then changed my point of aim once and put one in the head of the target. Knowing that this was a tactical shoot I asked the RO of the stage if I could do this and he said no, that a procedural would be incurred. This wasn't a gamer's match, this was a tactical match. The gamers had to be quite enterprising in their game to pull it off, and Taran did it with skill, IMO.
  3. The match was great and I have stages I didn't care for and stages I loved, but I think that goes with every match. The BBQ stage was by fart the best. Of constructive criticisms I would suggest better ways to dispose of weapons when transitioning. Most stages were good to go about this but stage 5 was obscene. When I shot the stage we had to place the weapons on a pile of shot shells and empty brass. Next time please have a lined bucket of some sort. I would also prefer safe areas for weapons handling. There shouldn't be a "whatever" when it comes to safety. Multiple acts of negligence and inattention have lead to accidents in the past. We are not immune to this and I say we were lucky. I had to call several people out on muzzle awareness. If safe areas existed violations of safety rules would be far less numerous. Thanks for a great match and I hope we get to see a lot more physically demanding stages like stage 7 next year. I want a dummy drag and lets low crawl through some mud.
  4. J-Ho, I shot with you and Mark at the Johnson 3 gun last year and I am heading to the LaRue Friday morning leaving out of Amarillo.
  5. Hi all. I called the hotel to make reservations and they wouldn't take the provided group code. I emailed Linda Chico about it several days ago but she has yet to respond. Any hope for a discount or should I have made reservations long ago? Thanks
  6. When I lived in an apartment complex people would sometimes park in my reserved spot. It was the same person a couple of times and after I put one of those big green hard to remove stickers on his windshield he never did it again. If he did I was going to get some of those big car moving dollys, move his car out of my spot, park, and then put his car in the middle of traffic if I wasn't going anywhere that night. I never got a chance to do that, though.
  7. You taking that to Johnson 3 gun? That is really nice!
  8. Has anyone grandmastered all 6 divisions? I recon that would be quite a feat.
  9. A gunshop where I live sold a Double Eagle for around $800
  10. When you get to that point please post how much your attorneys fees are for your patent application. I am curious as to how much that costs as I have some ideas of my own.
  11. The commander is all stainless steel. I had thought about the lightweight version but when I thought more about I figured that the heavier version might recoil less. The commander is my daily carry and what I happen to own right now. I do plan on getting a 5" with adjustable sights and keep up the single stack but I have to get the money first. I want to go the distance and get a Nighthawk or similar brand. I already reload for .45 is one of the reasons for sticking with single stack. I really have no desire for a .40 or to load it so I am going to spend the money on a nice single stack.
  12. I have a Colt Commander Model Number O4012XSE. I have switched the grips out for VZ Aliens. Do these grips run afoul of the following rule for Single Stack? Secondly, can I put a magazine well and extended magazine release on the gun as long as it fits into the dimensions of the box specified in the rules? What else can I do to the gun to increase performance and stay within the rules? Thanks PS: When I say magwell, I mean one of these, not some big honkin' thing.
  13. I scrolled down a little bit and found out about the WOA barrels. Guess I should have done that first before posting. Thanks.
