Yeah flex, we used to get american shooter on TNN, but not anymore. Nobodys knows about espn, huh? Match coverage, etc.

I was telling one of my employees about a technique I saw on Ron Avery's videos and he said, "I know Ron Avery, I see him on ESPN all the time when they show shooting matches." Does anyone know when these shows are on, or which matches will be shown? I searched the espn site and got precisely bupkus. Thanks, Steve

Maybe someone with some industry insight could modify a timer for practice that had a much shorter start buzzer. Maybe 1/10 instead of 3/10. Would that help us?

Shred - I'm still chuckling at the thought of timerslap matches. Course, those of us with digital timers will be called gamers by the tactical stopwatch crowd...

I know about that one, but my practice range is indoors, and the other blasters make timer use very frustrating. (Had a damn .223 guy next to me this morning showing off his new muzzle brake) I got the idea from a mas ayoob article on reaction time and really wanted to see how fast I could get to the gun. I kinda like mine, because when will you ever have to (in a match) start on a buzzer with the gun in hand, sights indexed, finger on trigger? I will try it though. Thanks! See ya Saturday...

Hey Flex, would it kill ya to mention my 1.58 w/ Beretta 92 and wilson Tactical Assault holster. I wasn't that far behind you...Guess I'll blow my own horn. BTW, I did it in .91 with .22 open from low ready. Now that's FUN!

In trying to speed my draw in dry-drawing, I decided to test my reaction time, as I am told it is slow... So, I clipped the timer in place of the holster, strong side, and from surrender slapped it as fast as I could at the buzzer. Average, .33, Best, .31. How slow am I? Steve

TDean, I will gladly trade the softer impulse for a flatter shooting gun. Damn, I didn't pay attention to the "flat factor." I was focusing on feel. The other poster is probly right about shooting a stage to fully evaluate all the characteristics. Time for more comparisons!

That confirms the theory I had in my head. Power Pistol is made by Alliant, and it's about 5-10 "rungs" down the burn rate chart fron titegroup. It's chief advantage is its ability to generate high velocity at low pressures in 9 and 40. I like it a lot, but no one else seems to. I will try some "clays" to see if I can replace sliced bread, but I guess the slower recoil may just feel better for me..Titegroup was my least favorite in feel, more of a smack than a push. I just ordered some slide glide today, so I'm anxious to try that, too. Thanks again, Steve P.S. 1 - I won my classifer this weekend in production for the first time. Feels good! It seem like most of the top shooters prefer fast powders in their stock/limited guns, and I wonder what I'm missing. I did an a/b/c comparison with w231, titegroup, and power pistol, and found power pistol to feel much softer and smoother. Granted, this test was at 125 PF in the 9mm, but the difference was clear to me. Do I have a different preference, or is it that some powders feel better than others, and not that all fast powders feel better than all slower powders? Are the preferencs different in open comped guns? Thanks in advance, Steve

I've been practicing really hard lately, using everything I've learned from Brian's book, and from watching "Pistol Masters" and "How to shoot fast and accurately" every day day while riding the exer-bike. It's all starting to come together, and this past Tuesday our local IDPA club's first stage was a Bill drill at 5 yards. There is no better feeling than having the first stage of an event exactly duplicating your last practice session! I shot it at 1.92 with no points down...What a great feeling! My Beretta E2 and I were in sync with the target and I knew the hits were good before we scored the target. I know 1.92 at 5 yards is nothing to brag about around here, but a personal best is a personal best. Thanks Guys.
