  1. IPSC Chik1, I think what the guys are saying is that a major change (such as the ones discussed) could lead to advantages gained by people with different equipment. Other people, who want to be as competitive as one can be, will have to buy other stuff in order to keep up (I know, it's the shooter, not the gun...but the gun/mag can mean that oh so important 2% sometimes). People don't like that. They want stability. They want to shoot what they have and feel that their equipment is not holding them back one bit.

    Beer

No Dutch Beers? Come on man, gotta love the beer from over here BTW, I live in the centre of the Beer universe (in Holland, next to Belgium, England and Germany -which alone has over 1600 breweries-) and I don't drink any.
  3. Why don't you load your practice ammo on the Dillon and the foo foo match ammo on a single stage? It will still save you time and you get the most accurate shots when you need it.
  4. Flex, I think you're right. There's no difference between that and a penalty in front of an A zone. I shot a no-shoot that was located behind a popper at my last match and hated it. But I can't see why it should be discouraged. Why don't we discourage C and D zones? They suck. Make the entire target one big A zone.
  5. Phil, that is definately a good one. Especially because I see a lot of shooter (including myself) sometimes put their whole finger through the guard when shooting werk/strong hand.
  6. BH, "It does reveal the flinch, but never cured it completely." Cool. Cause in the end, that's what it's all about: curing the flinch. I'll definately try it out (the .22 way)
  7. Patrick, I've tried both types for some time. My knees are pretty weak after years of basketball. The "cheater type" are nice. I have a pair of "K-guard" (that's the brand name) pads. They don't have the hard plastic covers. just thick pads with soft stuff on the inside. They don't have straps. I can wear them for a long time without noticing them. They do not work in areas with "pointy rocks" though. As Lynn points out, you need the hard plastic skate pads for those surfaces. I personally don't like those. They take my focus off the shooting, because of the annoying velcro straps that irritate. Did I mention they annoyed me? They DO give more confidence though, because they offer more protection.
  8. Vince, I think in the end, it would make no difference. It's way slower to cock first, or, if you do it fast, it might cost you your thumb . So instead of penalizing people who cock first with a procedural or DQ or whatever, we penalize them with the removal of their thumb or a lousy time. (Edited by spook at 12:22 pm on Feb. 13, 2003)
  9. Steve, cool initiative! 11. Trust your skills and shoot at a pace where you're able to see everything you need to see. Never go too fast. 12. Don't trust how fast something "feels". Use a timer to check which mental state gives you the best times. 13. If you shoot a revolver, practice reloads a lot. 14. Overconfidence leads to minimal awareness. Try not to lose interest in the shooting that's happening right now, because you've overpracticed. (Edited by spook at 7:06 pm on Feb. 18, 2003)
  10. What would be really annoying is to cut and paste the entire book to be read by Windows' irritating computer voice. I think he's called Sam and you can have great fun with him.
  11. Hmmm, Chuck, you must be shooting revolver . I hear ya man, peace of mind is all I want right now. Let the rules be.
  12. Well it look impressive, though.
  13. I hate that I feel like sh!t, but I can't do anything about it. And now the same sentence in Dutch: Ik haat het dat ik me klote voel en er niks aan kan doen.
  14. Brian, in no way did you offend me, man. I'm with you on the round limitations in Limited. If everyone has the same capacity, results will depend MORE on the shooter. I say, make rules that make it possible to be really competitive with "cheap" gear. That way the sport can grow and it all comes down to WHO's best. So limit Limited and revolver to 10 (or even eight) and 6 rounds. Everyone can compete with those rules.

    New Forum

Nope, ees Anglais is a leetle RRusteah, but he's a nice guy and will answer most of your questions (in English).
  16. SS, same here. It would be a bummer to reduce my two 625's to expensive paperweights when all the rules change. BTW, Brian, I recall you saying you would like revolver to stay a 6 round game somewhere on the boards recently.
  17. I sometimes notice I slap the trigger on my wheelgun, so a Glock shouldn't be a problem, right. "Can you say LEFT?" Yeah, just use it on close and easy target. Not on those 50yard partial bastards:)
  18. I always use dummy rounds, because I got frustrated at reloading with empty moonclips.
  19. TBF, I learn something new everytime too. Like from HitechRN. That's one example, for me to never do it again.
  20. Dudes, you just nailed my favorites. Smokey, this isn't Nam, this bowling, there are rules. My brother and I die everytime we hear it. We also do when Walter tells Donnie (very agressively)to shut the F*&K up at the dance exibition. Dude: "He has serious problems man!" Walter:"What, beyond pacifism?" Absolute favorite: "Calmer than you are" Hell I'm going to watch it again.

    New Forum

Check out http://www.ericgrauffel.com It has just been set up. And it doesn't have many members yet, but this forum started out from scratch once too, so... Eric seems to answer every question you ask him very fast (can that guy do anything slowly?), so for the open and standard guys, it looks great. Of course I shoot the only div. that completely not supported on the forum (revolver)
