Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Scotty, Talk to Buber; he once made 200 pf, in 38 Special, at a Desert Classic in a S&W 586!
  2. Bubber, you're still older than Dadoo and Mamoo and Lil Bubber too!
  3. Bubber, I don't remember saying that? But I'll never forget the "look where his foot is"
  4. If you take the Comp III's completely apart you can use a belt sander to remove the excess plastic, but be careful. You will then needs an exacto knife to remove the melted plastic from around the holes where the cartridge rims go. Also, Bubbuer, we took our Comp III's down to .130 to .150 thick, that is why we need to use loading blocks.
  5. Bubber, Well, you gone an done it. You are now infamous in Ok, along with Calif, Az and points west & east! Mamoo & Dadoo are proud of ya, maybe Lil Bubber too! Congrats, Dadoo
  6. Anyone have extensivie information on Ti-cylinders? A gentlemen called from Wisconsin, I'm in Az, asking questions on why he was having problems with extraction from his 45 Gap in a 625. He said Randy Lee, thanks Randy, gave him my name. I remember, somewhere in the back of my brain (ha) that people were having problems with Ti-cyliners and brass casings sticking. And if I remember right? nickle cases helped the problem. Does anyone or has anyone been through these problems? And if so, what did you do to cure the problem? Has it got to do with too much pressure? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  7. Rob, Yes I'm was, am one of the wildbunch. The firearm started as a Model 28. Put a 38 Super, stainless, cylinder in it. This was done way before S&W even offered one. The mount is NOT a Alchin, it is ours, made out of 1"X1/4" aluminum. For more info go to: http://www.azwildbunch.com/philsmith/philsmith.htm
  8. This is strong and low and not hard to make
  9. Fellow Round Gun Shooters, Take this from someone who has been all over the USA with Bubber, you do NOT want HIM driving the short bus! He runs off the road while sleeping, he ALMOST runs out of gas, because he is too lazy to stop and it takes him an hour and a half to go 60 miles, on an Interstate with a speed limit of 75mph! Now, if you want him as the cruise director that would be another story! With all his redneck jokes, I believe he lived them all, he will keep you in stitches the whole trip!
  10. Hey Underlug, me and Mamoo miss the gang too! You and Bubber have a great time at the IRC, we are with you in spirit! I did not have an accident I was IN an accident. Doing better now. Have fun and don't forget to give Bubber h%ll!
  11. John, Well I ain't going neither. New job plus other conflicting personal problems? Bubber, you gonna havta cary the torch for the rest of usen thatll not be thar!! Jon, Bubber never ate the crayens, he usta stickem in his err and hide them so as his brother couldn't find em! John, we will miss seeing you & Polly this year. Maybe we just ought to schedule a vacation and we all meet ans just partay!! I don't think we got that many "next year" in us?! To all are friends; Joyce, my son Steven, and myself will miss you all this year. Carry the torch, shoot well and most of all, have a blast!! And remember, when they are down, kick them before they get back up!
  12. Luke, (Use the force Luke I just had to say it) There is one thing and one thing only the moonclip has over the Comp IIIs. And that is 6 always eject from the cylinder. Now, that being said, it you do, what causes six not eject from the cylinder, one under the star, with the moonclip gun, you have one crappy reload. We used modified Safari Comp III's, for years & years, and IMHO, they are way faster than the moonclips! L-frames are super fast, K-frames are a little harder. If I could figure a way to send a picture I'd show ya how to modify the Comp III's. As far as the speedloaders being in the way after the reload, that is a fantasy! Practice with your Comp III's and pretty soon the moonclip guys will be green with envy! Phil( Darn I did it again, came out from deep lurk mode
  13. dajarrel, I was talking about light loads in 38 super, 9mm and 38 special. The hotter loads I was speaking of were for 38 short colt & long colt and some people even trimmed 38 special brass and made exotic calibers. I do agree that when you are developing hot loads, for any firearm, it is best to go to the books and start from there. But as far as the light loads in the revos I miss the go ole days, 10 years ago. Between 6 of us we worked on steel loads, light loads, because we trusted each other we went our different ways trying different combination of powders and bullets until we found out what worked best. We shared our information and between us all we came up with good, accurate & clean, loads that worked in all our revos. It is a shame everyone here now has to go back and reinvent the wheel. I don't believe loads for the above caliber revos has changed one iota for 10 years. But new people are working on loads and coming up with stuff that has worked these past ten years. It would be nice if new revo shooters could or would do like the 6 of us use to do, believe in others, but I'm sure that is not possible in this day and age. Shred, One more thought for you. If you think the reloading data shoud be fractioned off you need to look at some of the other posts. I'm sure many posts should go to the gunsmithing forum, the spring forum, the tactic forum and some others. If you did that there would be no Revolver Forum. I've said more in the past two days then I've posted in 2 years. It's time for me to go back to deep lurk mode. Phil
  14. Shred, At this point in time, you do what you want you are the moderator. But ask yourself why they even started a Revolver forum? I thought it was a place where, IDPA, USPSA, ICORE and any "revolver" shooters could come for "any" revolver information. You, the forum adminstration, keep fracturing bits of information to other areas of this web page, isn't a good thing, in my opinion. And at this time it seems I'm the only one disagreeing with the change, so it must be me! Phil
  15. Shred, Let me give a couple reasons why I believe you should keep the loading data for the 9mm and 38 super,on the revo page. The loads we us in these revos are usually 120-125 power factor. The loads are developed for accuracy AND the big thing is how clean they leave the cylinders. Something auto's are not as picky about. Most autoloaders, in the above calibers, want loads that generate lots of pressure for the comps while the above loads would barely operate the slides. As far as the 38 long colts and 38 short colts and some 38 special loads, that the cartridge cases are trimmed several thousands. The loads suggested, here in the revo section, are usually not supported in any reloading manual. They are usually much hotter than specs. Guys, I do have my flame suit on! I said USUALLY not supported! I just can not see putting the revolver loads in with the hordes of autoloader data. Why make the revo shooter, especially the new guys, jump through hoops to find a proven load for their revolver. Make it easy to attain this data right here on the revo page, IMHO! Respectfully, Phil
