Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the welcome. I have had an account for almost 5 years and started lurking for years before that. I just never had a question I couldn't find an answer for before now and could not add more to the conversations already under way. Excellent information, thank you. WRT crane alignment can you recommend a resource that will walk me through how to check that and other things like you mentioned? I understand that there are some critical things like timing, alignment etc. that must be maintained, but I have no idea what to look for that may indicate a problem. I can sleepwalk my way through a Glock, but revolvers are very new to me. Peeining in the cylinder stops is something I noticed almost immediately. I did a lot of dry fire before I ever shot the gun and noticed it within the first couple thousand dry shots. The S&W forum had several guys with new guns complaining about that but I'm not sure how bad it has to get before there is a problem or if that is just a normal part of a revolver's life.
  2. OK gang, please don't tar and feather me. I have been shooting Glock for years. I clean them when I feel like it, mostly out of boredom. I have taken up revolvers for the time being and it dawned on me that a different gun probably has different maintenance requirements. I know the stock answer from most is clean when you get home. I have always thought that to be a bit OCD, perhaps a holdover from corrosive ammo days. What is a reasonable cleaning cycle for a modern revolver? In my case I'm running 686 SSR. BTW, I did search and was unable to find the answer tot he above in the first 3 dozen threads that had any hits, but if there is a thread please point it out.
