  1. Clean the die. Stuff gets built up in them and causes some of these issues, but .001 isn't anything to worry over.
  2. The recoil is minimal, with the correct ammo. Put it this way, and I don't recommend doing this, but I like to see how dirty a gun can get and still run. I have about 3k rounds of my 134PF ammo through my Scorpion...and I have never cleaned it...and have had absolutley ZERO malfunctions. None. Zip. Nothing. It just runs and runs. And, is accurate as any out there. This is a pic of the test target at 25 yards, after sighting in, using a 15 year old BSA $30 red dot and my minor PF production ammo...off hand, no rest.
  3. Out of the box, a CZ scorpion Evo3 will work, at around $1k. Change the trigger spring to get a lighter trigger, delete one side of the safety, and Bob's your uncle. And, mags are very cheap and reliable.
  4. It is...but the bullet has already left the barrel. Here is a video at 73k FPS showing the bullet leaving the barrel, before ANY motion of the slide. https://youtu.be/7y9apnbI6GA And another video, from Larry Vickers, showing the same thing. https://youtu.be/jig-RvZr1OM
  5. Tumble in corn cob, 99.9999% chance of no detonation. I've put them in (jacketed bullets) and forgot about them for hours before...no issues. There is an astronomically small chance of getting killed by a sloth falling off a building in New York...but it is never no chance.
  6. That was just like the Battle in the Bluegrass match of years past. Lo-cap only, Production and SS.
  7. The air is thicker, need more weight to push through it.
  8. In USPSA, most generally DON'T want the slide to lock back on an empty mag. If your gun is setup to lock back, you run the risk of a premature slide lock...and you should never run completely empty on a stage. But, to answer your question, the non lock back problem will generally be related to your magazine follower. There is a notch in thd front of the follower that pushes the slide lock lever up. If that notch is cut too deep on the magazine, it does,nt push the the lever up. Second thing to look at is the mag spring...you may need to tweak it to make the front of the follower point up more on an empty mag.

Enough. Anymore back and forth like this and there may be some time outs.
  10. I sent them an email a few days ago. Hi Andy, Thank you for your inquiry and interest in WRE's primers. 2024 is sold out for primers other than current OEM customers and new factory customers. We do not directly sell our primers. However, we maintain a limited supply through our distributor in South Carolina. To explore procurement options, I recommend contacting Karen Gerard at Shooter’s World. Her email address is shootersworldsc@gmail.com. If you encounter any difficulties in reaching Karen or have further inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact us. Best regards, The WRE Sales Team

  12. No dumb questions when you are starting out. There are jacketed bullets, plated bullets, coated bullets, and just plain lead bullets..and others, but those are the most common. Wiki is your friend in this... First, use load data for another bullet of the same weight and profile (or very similar profile). For the 147's, you'll be around 3.5 grains of VV N320, somewhere around 1.130 - 1.150 OAL (dependent upon what your barrel will take). Plated bullets ARE NOT FMJ. Most lead, plated, and coated bullets are oversized, on purpose. 9mm is .355, but .356 is used when loading lead, plated, and coated. FMJ bullets will be sold as .355. Do a google search of 9mm converted to inches...and you'll understand...again, Wiki is your friend

    Took him what, .75 seconds?
  14. I'm lost...what are you trying to say?
  15. CZ Custom asked that they be allowed to reply to this closed thread. I wanted to provide an update and thank the Moderators for letting me participate in the conversation. We refunded our customer his full amount as we were able to refinish the part. I would like to remind our friends and customers that due to variations in manufacturing tolerances all parts may need fitting, including "drop-in" parts. That was the issue in this case. We always recommend the use of a competent gunsmith if you have issues when installing/fitting parts to your pistol. We, at the CZ Custom Shop, work hard to provide excellent customer service to our customers. We have a full showroom with retail sales along with our online website presence. We do have a full time employee answering the phone daily. If you can't get through to him most likely he is talking to a customer in the showroom or on the phone with a customer. We are a small business and we strive to return calls/emails within the next business day. As a consumer myself I understand the frustration of not getting to talk to someone, but we do return every call and appreciate our growing customer base. I appreciate the opportunity to share this information, and appreciate the Brian Enos Forum for the years of Knowledge and Service to the Shooting Community Worldwide. If anyone needs to contact us for service, parts, or shipping inquiries please use info@czcustom.com. You can also contact Stuart Wong at stuart@czcustom.com or myself at dougc@czcustom.com. 16. I actually made a brass picker from an old wet / dry vac. I made a basket crom hardware cloth to put inside the vac body, and made a smaller pickup tube from PVC. Sure, it would pick up dirt and small rocks, but the dirt was sifted out from the brass by the basket. Did have to pick out rocks though...but no bending over for brass. Worked really good at stationary shooting positions where much of the brass would concentrate.
  17. It is not due to a "bug" of the forum....
  18. What bullet weight? What kind of ogive? I was using some flat point coated 147's in my shadow 1 and would get occasional tumbling. Turns out, the bullet was not balanced...too much weight near the back of the bullet....but, they could also be hitting the comp.
