  1. I found mine broke last week. Had an unrelated trigger malfunction in a match so came home and tore everything down and discovered the broken pin. Mine is the newer style and has around 12-15 k on it. My pin was also broken in the same spot as above. I bought an extra to keep in my range bag.
  2. Plus then there is confusion on the clock about pickup and abandonment locations.
  3. A friend bought a 6.5 creed barrel for his AR platform and it is very very accurate.
  4. Doug- what size dot do you prefer and where do you like the 45 degree mount mounted?
  5. So I wanted to follow up. Even though the primers are a little high and fully seated they have all functioned properly.
  6. I have a bunch of once fired Lake City 5.56 with very shallow primer pockets. They measure on average .090 vs. spec of .117-.123. In 7 years of reloading and 10's of thousands of rounds I can't say that I have seen this and have always used Lake City for my match brass. Any ideas on what the root cause is? Machine gun brass? Built out of tolerance? Obviously it is resulting in high primers that are fully seated. I tested the offending cases and they seem to function but I'm very uncomfortable with it. Thoughts?
  7. After doing some research, here is what I have found.... 1. There was, in fact, a rule allowing Glock 34 & 35 pistols in the later years of the match. 2. Glock bbl length is listed as 5.31", XDM is listed as 5.25", M&P Pro is listed at 5". 3. My old Chinese 1911 built up for me by Kurt has a nominal 5-1/8" bbl from breech face to end of bbl. .....so we will allow all manner of FACTORY LENGTH BARREL guns up to and including the G34 / G35 Glocks. The call will be if you've got an extended, threaded, aftermarket or factory barrel that exceeds these nominal lengths (that's what we call a clue), the tape measure will come out, and we're going to tell you to put the short factory barrel back in it, or you can't use it. To paraphrase Jim Brown in Ice Station Zebra: "There will be an equipment inspection at every stage; and, gentlemen, it will be a bitch....." Fair enough?? (I'm just kidding, we're really not asking you.....) ericm Hell, I have a 6" sight tracker that came out of a factory. What's 3/4" among friends? Ok, now where did I put my fire suit? Even if Eric said yes I'm not dragging my SVI through the stages Zak and crew will be dreaming up!
  8. Eric, Kurt, Zac, I know I will be flogged for asking but it's better than buying another gun I don't shoot. I have an xdm .45 with a 5.25" barrel? Yes or no?
  9. I wish there was a "like button" as on bookface for this thread. ⚔☠
  10. I have successfully used Varget, 8208, and TAC for both.
  11. I found two manufactures. LaRue and ADM. I don't know on the weight. Used the ADM all season with no issues.
  12. I've been using their products for a couple years and couldn't be happier.
  13. Look, you guys are all correct however it doesn't make it suck any less. I want to say the guys at McGowen are exemplary in the personal integrity category. That's important to some and viewed as a character flaw by others. I want to end by repeating that Odin makes a great barrel.
  14. Odin makes a great barrel. They were the original manufacturer for the Strongside Tactical Stretch 16. Unfortunately they started marketing and selling the barrel themselves and it wasn't their idea. As a sponsored shooter for Strongside I own the first Odin manufactured Stretch 16 barrel and it's been great. I also own a new Stretch 16 barrel manufactured by McGowan. Based on the results of mine and the rest of the Strongside shooting team we all prefer the new barrel for accuracy and longivity. A melonited Stretch 16 barrel recently had 9000+ rounds put through it uncleaned by Mark Passamaneck and when examined by a boroscope looked new. And yes I am biased, I am biased that handshake agreements mean something and would bet most on this forum are like minded.
  15. Most any 1000 yard range finder will work for 3 gun. I found out most won't work for precision matches as the targets are too small compared to 3 gun past about 400 yards. I found out the hard way during the Thunderbeast team challenge match.
  16. I have not had this happen in a match however I did have it happen in practice. I always drop the bolt on a live round pointed into a berm or the ground in front of me down range. The round that went off for me had a smeared primer and I was curious what would happen or if it would even fire. Now we all know. I also have went to Ti firing pins as a little insurance.
  17. Well said erickm. I don't know of any other match that accomidates that many shooters and does it well from what I hear.
  18. Paul, The XS rear sights work perfect. No need to modify it if you don't want to. I run a Hi-vis tri comp front sight. They come in three different heights to make zeroing a breeze. It took all the pain of long range slug shots away!
  19. I have an M2 and a Vinci. The versa max seems close to an M2 but with a gas system. I have had a hard time loading the Vinci vs. the M2. I am sure it could be overcome with practice. I don't have the speed bolt so it doesn't like the lighter loads.
  20. I have played with almost every combo of springs, buffers and carriers. Where I ended up at is where I started. JP LMOS carrier and silent captured spring with adjustable gas block. If you want to spend the money you can swap out for the TItane carrier and stay with silent captured spring. My aluminum carrier showed wear within 50 rounds so I am not very comfortable with it. The downside of the Titane is I wore my upper receiver enough in one season I decided it should be replaced (8000 rounds). I run my AR very wet! The Titane looks brand new after a full season and I am running it again this season.
  21. So I went against MarkCO's recommendation (I usually don't) and used some Loctite 638 sleeve retaining compound to solve my sloppy MUR receiver to extension fit problem. The rifle is tack driver and I don't see any thermal drift after longer strings of fire. I may never get it apart again but shouldn't every new barrel deserve a new upper receiver? LOL
  22. The knurling isn't aggressive but very grippy.
