  1. Doug, What formula do you find best for .40 Major using VV320 under 180 grain plated?

  3. Thanks...I'm just hard headed I guess. I replaced two Sears, springs and hammers in my Beretta 92 and 96, easy as can be, but the sear is twice as big and did not need fitting. Just getting too old for my fingers to work as well as they once did!
  4. Hey Guy's, I tried to do the install and got frustrated. Took me several hours to get it put back together with the factory parts. Lots of filing and I wasn't getting anywhere. Talked to Dan at PRP and decided I'm sending the gun and kit to him. A guy just has to know his limitations! I would rather it be right! Just hope I get it back in time for my shoot a week from this Saturday. I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks for your support!
  5. Thanks Guy's for your responses. Think I will order the kit this week and see how it feels. Can't hardly wait. Gotta feel better than my Beretta's. Not that I don't like my Beretta's but I have been waiting for years for the company to address the needs of the competition shooter! Not gonna happen!
  6. I am a recent purchaser of an XD(M) 5.25 after years of shooting Beretta's I have been following the discussions here and on XDTalk forum. Am going to do a drop-in trigger job. Have researched the pricing with Brownells and am confused. They offer PRP 056 drop in kit for $110 and the forum keeps mentioning the PRP "Ultimate Match Kit" but I cannot find any reference to it. I definitely want a lighter trigger pull and faster reset. Does anyone know any comparison or stock numbers between these two. Also, I noticed the basic kit does not have a sear included but they offer a polished sear for $60. Would I be in good shape buyint the basic kit and the sear? This is pretty confusing. I can do the work. The u tubes are tremindous. Anyone have an opinion other than sending my gun off for the work. Kind of like to do things myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  7. Great idea Bryan (as usual) I had no problem pinning the map. It will be interesting to see where all our groups home grounds are. Never seen this technology before! Thanks!
  8. I reload .380, 9 mm, .40, and .45 all on RCBS Rock Cruncher Supreme. All of my dies are RCBS carbide. I have a friend that uses a Dillon progressive and I kind of like his setup but it was way out of my price range. I chose this particular RCBS because it can be expanded with the "piggy back" to progressive. I am almost to the point of expanding. reloading a whole lot more than I ever anticipated two years ago when I started. the Rock also has a wider "jaws" for 30'06 shells and 7 mm mag, if I ever decide to relaod them in the future. Everything I have is RCBS. I believe in their quality. I have not been disappointed at all. Good luck with your search. Everyone has a favorite.
  9. Do you have a new book coming out tomorrow?
  10. Your new Tee Shirt design is coming out?
  11. The USPSA rule book is a great place to find answers to questions about your equipment and what is considered legal for use in the different divisions. http://www.uspsa.org/rules/2008HandgunRulesindexed.pdf That gun could probably be shot in Production, Limited 10 or Limited. The most restrictive division is Production so it's got the most limitations as far as equipment goes. You can learn about it in Appendix D4 and further in Appendix E2-4. One thing though is that all Production shooters are scored minor so even if that load makes major, it won't help your scoring any if you shot Production. But, if you are wanting to shoot in Limited or Limited 10 class then you will see the benefit. Get your load chrono'd soon if you can and verify that you're making major. To be honest though, at a local match when you are just starting out, bring what you have and shoot. Get the experience and pay far more attention to the safety and scoring rules. As you get some experience and ask the zillion question that you'll have, you will hone you gear down to something that works well for you and is legal in your chosen division tool. Move in small bumps and ask the more experienced shooters around what has worked for them. You will save yourself a lot of headache, time and money. Welcome to the sport!
  12. Thanks ALLGOODHITS and others. I was wondering the same thing about my first IPSC shoot this Saturday. I will be shooting my 96fs and was wondering about how to ready the firarm, with decock on or off. I have practiced both ways but the flipping of the lever is not near as smooth as I would like it. I was wondering if, by rule, I would have to start with it on. I'm lloking forward to the competition, even though I am getting in to it "late in life" LOL I'll be in the middle of the senior division. This forum is the greatest thing. THANK YOU BRYAN! For the forum and for my SafariLand gear. Hope to meet you someday but I have never made it out to your neck of the woods. Only make it to the "left Coast" for conferences. I am really glad to find so many Beretta shooters on this forum. The Beretts forum doesen't seem to be so competition minded. Keep up the good work!
  13. Hey Guys, I'm realitively new to the forum. Am shooting my first IPSC this Saturday with my Beretta 96 FS. I have Pacmayer wrap around grips on my weapon. Is this going to pose a problem for me? I will be shooting 180 grain Speer FN pushed by 5.2 grains of Bullseye. Any thoughts? I already loaded 200 rounds for this weekend. I have no chrono data on the load but literature search and graphing yield a PF that could put me in Minor. Any feedback from Beretta shooters would be appreciated.
  14. Sandman, You gave me some good advice a couple of weeks ago. I appreciated it. I will be anxious to hear how your match goes as I don't have my first one until April 4th. I will expect a full report..ok? Have fun and be safe!
  15. I just bought a new range bag from Midway USA on sell. It seems to be plenty big for my needs but I am just now getting into action shooting. I think they are on sale through March. Nice looking, big, and well organized. I guess after I use it in competition, I will know if it holds up. It looks efficient, even though it is black.
