  1. Saw this on another gun forum: For Sale Bullet Manufacturing Plant
  2. The 550 is a great balanced machine. The lack of auto index isn't an issue because your left and right hand are both doing something. Add a case feeder and now your right hand doesn't leave the handle and your left is indexing and placing a bullet. I was in your situation a few years ago: I had a 550 and wanted to go faster. I debated about getting a case feeder or selling the 550 and getting a 650. I cheaped out and got the 550 case feeder. I struggled with it for a year. It never quite worked 100% and I ended up getting a 650 and selling the 550. The 650 was designed for a case feeder from the start. The 550 case feeder was an afterthought.
  3. Nobody in those states, who has preban mags (myself included), WANTS to be forced to shoot 10-rounds. It's fine because people who don't can still shoot L10 or production. Except everyone says 3.3.1: Let's get rid of L10 you don't need it. Doing so for ONLY production is an interesting idea. You'd have to get ALL the MD's in the state to agree to that AND get permission from the USPSA president per 3.3
  4. I've never seen 3.3.1 applied in a state that has grandfathering, like Massachusetts. Make Production 15 and people who shoot platforms that didn't exit in 94 are SOL.
  5. Looks like I'm going back to the factory one, LF Arms doesn't appear to be in business any longer. My day got cut short at a local club match.
  6. This was probably 10 years ago. Back then they still had the 500 gun rule in limited. He had an SVI sight tracker that hadn't met the 500 mark yet and ran into Amadon at the safe table. He got bumped to open and our next stage was chrono where he went minor.
  7. WST is reverse temperature sensitive: higher temp = lower velocity. One of my squad mates went minor at A7 with his limited gun that had already been bumped to open.
  8. Same here. FC brass + dillon dies + MG = setback. I also had issues with bullet pull with Berry's in 38 special. I never had issues with coated bullets. roll size + u-die in 9 & 40. u-die in 38spl. Some day I'll get get 38/357 dies for my case pro.
  9. I guess I'm REALLY lucky because my section coordinator was the match director for our USPSA area match and is a SC Club 13 member.
  10. I'd vote No. Maybe I'm spoiled: I've known and regularly shot with, the last three Area 7 directors. Lee, our current AD, regularly posts which matches he will be shooting that month, which usually include a steel challenge match, and asks people to introduce themselves and bring up any issues they have. I shoot both, regularly help out at my clubs USPSA match and have been running registration/scoring for our SC matches for 7 years. -Mike CRO w/ SC endorsement.
  11. I built a glock 40 CO gun for my wife. I had a bunch of preban 40 mags from my Limited gun and I live in the grandfathered magazine capacity limited state. 9mm pre-bans are going for 2-3x the cost of 40's. If I lived in a free state I would have used 9mm.
  12. Rule 3.3.1 doesn't really handle states that have grandfathering rules. In MA you can have pre-94 mags. If production went to 15 you shoot a glock w/ pre-ban mags. If you wanted to shoot an M&P or SigP320 you'd be a felon or stuck with 10 rds.
  13. I've run the same setup in 9, 40, and 38 special for years. I did run the failsafe rod by rotating the powder measure. I've recently started processing my brass with a U-die on a Lee APP. I'm going to free up the station on my 650 for a bullet feeder.
  14. The 550 is a great well balanced press that wasn't designed for a case feeder. The lack of auto index doesn't slow it down. The 650 is a great press that was designed for a case feeder The 550 with a case feeder is unbalanced (your left hand has to advance and place a bullet) finicky press. I owned a 550 and wanted to go faster. I debated about selling it and buying a 650 or adding a case feeder to 550. I bought the 550 case feeder. When it worked it was a little faster. When it didn't it was a frustrating PITA. I ended up buying a 650, selling the 550. I would have kept it for lower volume calibers if I had the space.
  15. My 650 setups in 9, 40, 38spl are 1 Dillon Sizing die 2 Lee U-die (not flared enough to prevent case smashing in station 1) with primer punch removed 3 flare & powder drop. I have it rotated so that the fail safe rod still works. Others swap over to springs 4 Dillon seating die 5 Dillon sizing die
  16. I just completed the online course. All in all it was on par or better than other online training I've had to do for work.
  17. I was in a similar situation to you. I wanted to load faster but didn't want to deal with selling my 550 and buying a 650 (didn't have room for both). I could never get the 550 working with the case feeder reliably for all calibers I loaded. It worked but I was constantly fiddling with it (which slowed me down significantly). The manual indexing was NOT an issue without the casefeeder but it definitely limits you with one. I finally broke down and bought a 650, sold the 550, and used the casefeeder for my case pro. The 550 is a great machine and if I had the room I would still have it but without the casefeeder. If you want a casefeeder I'd recommend going for a 650 instead.
  18. WST is reverse temperature sensitive. The higher the temp the slower it shoots. I shot A7 a few years ago with a guy who got bumped from Major to Minor using WST on a HOT day. That was after he got bumped from Limited to Open.
  19. This is how I used to reload on my 550. I never had a squib or double charge in the tens of thousands of rounds I loaded on my 550.
  20. Sorry for the old thread revival. I am going through this issue setting up .40 10-rounders for my STI DVC Limited. The stock followers/springs make it very difficult to get the 10th round in and almost impossible to seat on a closed slide. I picked up the Dawson 0.300" +0 basepads which are great. Is there a better basepad retainer than the STI one with the star? The hole diameter is larger than the star and basepads move around a bit. I also picked up the Dawson Competition STI Follower For 40 S&W/45 ACP based on this thread. It's going to take a fiddling to get them to attach to the STI 10-round spring. I didn't realize that this follower deactivated the slide stop. Has anyone trimmed/modified the stock follower to allow seating 10-rounds on a closed slide? I've had to trim all my S&W M&P 9/40 10-round mag followers.
  21. I used to use 3.5gr HP-38/W231 @ 1.105" in my M&P9 Pro (~135 PF). The profile of the Precision Black Bullets make you load them short.
  22. I have a Speed Shooters Specialties L10 brass magwell. If they every do another run of the brass L10 or Limited magwell I'd buy one for my backup gun.
