Press Through Sizer on a Budget
magicald_223 replied to RevolverJockey's topic in EAA / Tanfoglio Shop
Nice, now time to make a couple set ups and sell them here...I would consider trying one. -
Dillon forever!!! I've used 3 out of 4 of there presses and they all work great!

I have a Trubor and I've loaded HS6 down to 6.8 grains under 124 CMJ Mont. Golds with winchester SPP and my gun still cycles and doesn't freaking move up and down at all...I haven't tried it in a production gun and I don't have a chrono but it should be a minor load considering I have to looad 8.2 grains to make major with the same bullet.

I'm with you on the carpal tunnel...now I go through all my brass by dumping them out on my bench and pick through them before I start...still f-ing annoying!

Grip stippling and contouring...I did it!
magicald_223 replied to magicald_223's topic in General Gunsmithing
Thanks for all the compliments, but it was really easy and didn't take too long. My dad has fixed electronics for 25 years and I grew up helping him, so a soldering iron is an old friend. But melting plastic is a lot different than soldering, and it really was simple. The cheap woodburning irons are perfect for the job. Just use a lower speed on the dremel and light pressure while removing the checkering...its easy to take it off and better to do it gradually. It really made the grip more comfortable and grippier. Also, I'm cheap and $10 was much less than what the pros charge!! Now to get up the nerve to paint it, but I like the all black look. -
Range Report-Using PMC Lead Free Primers in 9mm
magicald_223 replied to rdinga's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
Interesting...I'll have to try some of these for myself. I just some wolf small mag. pistol primers and I haven't had time to test them. -
$155 per K is not too bad. But I find reloading very enjoyable and you can easily tweak every aspect of the load to find the best combo for you pistol and shooting style. Components have gotten a little easier to find...I agree with Flycaster, try to buy powder and primers local. Just pick up the phone and start calling.

That's still alot of shooters...this forum rocks. I learn something new on here everyday.

I've been meaning to post this to give big thanks to G-ManBart for his excellent stippling and contouring instructions, which I used to customize my Trubor's grip. Here's the link to his thread with instructions: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=67691 I used my dremel with the course sanding wheel to remove the checkering on the grip, which was very easy and didn't make a huge mess like I thought it would. The material removed is very fine powdery stuff. I used a $10 woodburning iron from Joanne's Fabric (http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=prd34088) Hey, my wife sews alot...anyways many different stores sell the same iron. I used the small rounded tip included with the iron (see the first pic.) Also, to finish it off, I used a few light very quick passes over a MAP gas torch to take any graying away from sanding the grip. A propane torch can also be used to do the same thing...and it works great on synthetic rifle stocks as well if you ever need to remove some material from a syn. stock. This was very easy to do and I encourage anyone to try it...I promise it is very easy and with G-ManBarts instructions its a breeze. Here's my results. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f13/magi...un/DSC05047.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f13/magi...un/DSC05048.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f13/magi...un/DSC05049.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f13/magi...un/DSC05051.jpg

I've got a Trubor with 2000 rounds through it using once fired range brass and winchester spp under HS6 and my breech doesn't show any wear. I've never used 3n37.

Press Through Sizer on a Budget

Sweet!!! Now to find the parts and put one together for myself. -
I think the DVD is great and the tools are top quality. You can tune 40, 9mm and 38 super mags using the tools and video. Chris Winning Shooting supplies is were I get all my stuff. Chris is great!!!

I haven't used the limcat, but I've heard good things about them.
-
I bought the Dawson mag tuning DVD and tools and used it to tune my 9mm mags...now all work flawlessly. He goes over the chamfering of the standard follower, but I switched the stockers out to Grams followers and springs.

Cool video! The song could use some work.
-
Wow, I think that looks better than the new Dawson...how does it load?
-
I have used Dawson's extended firing pin and Matt McLearn's M2i firing pin and both work great! Both changed out seamlessly from my stock SV.

Hey, does anyone own a hackintosh laptop or netbook? If you don't know what I'm talking about, there are some of the 10.1" netbook computers that Mac OS X - leopard and Snow leopard will run on with only a few mods. So you can have an ultra portable Mac for around $300. I'm thinking about trying it on a Samsung N310. Any input/experience is appreciated.

Here's some short videos of my son on the first day riding his new PW50 dirtbike without training wheels! He started out on a balance bike when he was 2.5 years old, then I bought him regular pedal bike and in 2 minutes he was riding w/o training wheels! And for Christmas all he wanted was a dirtbike. Check it out!

1+ on S&B tight primer pockets...I just reloaded 1000 rounds of once fired from a LEO range and there was a lot of S&B brass and I thought I was going to brake the arm off my SDB! A++ for Winchester and Starline.
