  1. Who makes Sightron? I've thought it might be Trijicon. I've got an ACOG on a RRA 5.56 set-up for prairie dogs and it's a good scope and I'm sure tougher than nails but the glass is blury around the edges. I thought I read where because of the way they're made this is an unavoidable problem but for nearly $800 I was kinda disappointed. If anyone knows more about ACOGS I would love to read what you know.
  2. Did you ever go through this investigator training thing? I was wondering if there was any classroom instruction on investigative procedures or was it just shooting?
  3. DPMS LR308 w/26" fluted bbl. I put a Leupold 4x14x40 Mk4 PR scope on it.I've had it for I think three years now and have never had a problem. Need to stock up on hi-cap mags. The new assault weapons ban is right around the corner.
  4. Could some of you guys who shoot competitions post pics of your shooting rigs? I've been in LE for awhile and am thinking of trying to get into IDPA or whatever else is happening in my area. Love to see some of the gear you guys use and see how it's set-up. What kinda prices are you talking for speed holsters and such?
  5. In over 16 years of law enforcement, I've never been in a firearms training class where the instructors shot the course. I went through the Nebraska law enforcement training center in 93. Only students shot the courses. Working for a sheriff's office with over 135 sworn deputies, only deputies shot the course. I don't understand why an instructor would even have to shoot the course. I guess in a smaller class setting where you might have the luxury of time and space, it might happen. If the instructor is shooting he's taking up the student's time to learn. He's already been there done that, that's why he's instructing. If I was in a firearms class and the instructor started shooting the course I would loose interest real quick. I know at my dept., the instructors were constantly at the range trying out new guns, ammo and stuff they had learned somewhere else. But, when the guys arrived for quals the instructors were busy setting things up, getting the course ready and then explaining what they wanted done.
  6. Hey North just out of curiosity, how old are you? I used to get tendonitis in my right elbow so bad I couldn't pick up a full can of soda. Also had pain in my right shoulder from tendon troubles. Even had the shoulder scoped in my early twenties. Lower back pain, bad knees you name it I was probably sore there. Anyway, when I was 37 my Dr drew blood and just out of curiosity checked my testosterone. It was right at the low end of normal for my age and he asked if I was interested in hormone replacement therapy. At first I thought, nah not for me. After I talked to a few guys I learned were doing it, I started. I have never looked back. After 7 years now I would recommend this to any guy I know. It took away nearly all my aches and pains, sleep better than ever, lost weight, gained energy, started working out and got in the best shape I've been in in 20 years and your wife/girlfriend or significant other will wonder why you're as horny as an 18 year old. Insurance covers it and I just stop by the Dr's office every couple weeks for an injection. There are other ways to take testosterone if you don't like shots. Remember how fast you heal when young and how if you hurt yourself one day it was gone the next? You get that back on testosterone therapy It's not for everyone and you need to have a Dr who is up on male hormone replacement but man was it worth it for me. Anyway just wanted to throw this out there for you to consider.
  7. Posing trunks, that's funny.
  8. That pneumonia is scary stuff. My older sister was in the hospital for almost a month with double pneumonia and just when they thought she was doing better, they released her and she passed away at home three days later. This was just 3 years ago. Just a heads up to be careful with pneumonia.
  9. Oh my god, those first pictures looked sooo painful. Just seeing the pics sends pucker factor muscles into action. OUCH! Looks like you've healed pretty good in the last 30 days.
  10. jasmap, who is that in the avatar picture? WOW! I would like to go shooting with her everyday. It's funny how some guys post pics of themselves thinking other guys will see how tacticool they are. I would much rather see more pics like yours with a gorgeous woman posing with a gun i.e. Dillon's calendars
  11. I'll gladly let him do it as this will most likely be the only time I try to build an AR one part at a time. I think I'll go with buying complete uppers and lowers and put together as needed. I do have an older Bushmaster that has the rear sight all the way to the left to sight it in. I"ve heard that there were several years where Bushmaster had this problem with the rearsight all the way right or left to sight them in. Maybe I'll get this fixed also.
  12. What! You didn't go with a Super Sniper, the older ones by Tasco of course, and threw your money on NightForce? Just kiddin' the Super Sniper lovers. I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for. I have two Leupolds on rifles and think they are the best. I can't afford S&B, USO or NightForce but have heard they are the best optics available.
  13. Hey Guys, I'm pretty new here but have been finding out lots of great info. I'm attempting to build an AR from parts I'm finding cheap. I need to attach a 16" bb to a flat-top upper. Does anyone know of a GOOD gunsmith, preferably in Omaha or the immediate area, who is capable of doing something like this with out goofing anything up?
