  1. I bought a NIB Dillon D-terminator (new style) from someone on one of the forums I read. It is so much better than the BBK II that I can't believe it. I was right. I should have gotten one of these from the start. By the way, anyone looking for a slightly used BBK II? For cheap. Inquire within. Live and learn, I guess.
  2. I bought a Pact BBK 2 from Brian a while back. It's a piece of crap. It fluctuates seemingly at random, both on AC and battery. Enough that I don't trust it. I went back to my 5-0-5. I should have sprung for the Dillon. Live and learn, I guess. Paul
  3. I'll also throw a plug in here for Penn Bullets. I've had great luck with them. Paul
  4. I have the coated powder bar also. I still don't get consistent throws with AA7. It varies too much for me. Maybe I'm just paranoid. I guess I'm spoiled from using W231 for so long. Paul
  5. I used my 45 acp shellplate as a pattern. It looks like a monkey did it but it works. Paul
  6. That did the trick. I really appreciate the help. Thanks, Paul
  7. I made sure the ejector wire was in the hole and around the bolt (not under it). Do I need to just polish it or take off material? I was going to try maybe take a bit off of the trailing edge at an angle. Thanks, Paul
  8. Dillon told me to file away some of the trailing edge of the shellplate at an angle. I guess if I mess it up they'll send me a new one, hopefully. Paul
  9. Thanks. I'll call Dillon and see if they can help or show me what to look for. Paul
  10. I don't remember having a problem with a lot of brass going into position at the sizing die. This is new Starline brass. I did have a few pieces that wouldn't go into the little guide for the shell plate. They had bad rims that looked like they weren't fully formed. But the ones that stopped the press didn't look to be different from the other brass that went through the press fine. Paul
  11. I am loading 10mm in a 650 and am having problems with the finished rounds getting caught on the ejector wire after the crimp die (in station 5) and causing a hard fast stop of the press. I have put a new wire piece in but it doesn't help. Does any one have any ideas? Paul
  12. I was wondering because I have seen 40 brass at the range that was bulged. I haven't seen brass from a 10mm glock. I was wondering if the brass was strong enough not to bulge when fired from an unsupported chamber. Not that I would be using real firebreathing loads or anything.
  13. Does the 10mm Glock fully support the case? Or does this need to corrected with an aftermarket barrel? Are plated reloads a problem in the stock barrel?
  14. Sorry, I probably should have included more information with original post. I am shooting a 5" Springfield 1911 9mm which has a 38 Super Barsto ramped barrel fitted. I am using the load for general plinking and some steel plates. It is my first attempt at gunsmithing. The barrel fits pretty good but it probably could be a little tighter fit in a couple of places. There's a little more play than is probably optimal but I'll know next time. I have shot some factory ammo through the gun but it seems to be about 9mm speed. Perhaps it is made for guns with unsupported chambers. I don't intend to use maximum loads, I just want something with a bit more power. Loads I have seen with 231 go up to around 6.0 grains (about 1200 fps). I just want a powder that I can load from mild target rounds to reasonably stout loads. Oops, I forgot. I also would like something halfway clean. I'd rather shoot 'em than clean'em. (Edited by SC shooter at 9:19 am on June 20, 2002)
  15. I have just started shooting 38 super recently. I have 231 (for my 45) and am going to try to work up a load with it. A buddy has a load but the speeds are way slow. What are some other powders to check out. I would like to be able to load some mild target loads and some with a little more pepper on them. Any suggestions? I'll be using a 125 grain hard cast round nose bullet.
  16. I would also look at Rainier plated bullets.
  17. Or more likely, it is the scary handguns and black "assault" rifles. The same reason American Shooter is not on TNN anymore.
  18. Fort Mill, SC I have been shooting for a while. I am interested in trying competitive shooting.
