  1. typical variation is no more than + or -.1 grain. I check it periodically. I suspect the F150's may be a factor, but finding WLP's to substitute is a little challenging right now....
  2. I am getting an occasional (1 or 2 per hundred) flattened primer. Load is 3.8 clays, F150, 230 RNL, 1.250". Loaded on a 1050. Back in the 70's when I was shooting a lot I never ran into this, was using 231 5.7/200 SWC, WLP. Any of you guys running into this? Thanks, Kirby
  3. I bought a Kimber Custom TLE II last fall, paid $890 including tax. This pistol is very satisfactory in quality and reliability. feeds my SWC reloads like s**t going through a goose. I have been hanging around custom 1911s since the mid-60's and this thing compares quite favorably to them for a whole lot less money. I would buy another one tomorrow. Hope this helps, Kirby
  4. I know I like it. Corey, what is the weight of your slide after tri-topping and those cuts? Thanks, Kirby
  5. Laser Cast is a trademark of Oregon Trail Bullet Co., excellent bullets but a little too spendy for me
  6. The commander is all stainless steel. I had thought about the lightweight version but when I thought more about I figured that the heavier version might recoil less. The commander is my daily carry and what I happen to own right now. I do plan on getting a 5" with adjustable sights and keep up the single stack but I have to get the money first. I want to go the distance and get a Nighthawk or similar brand. I already reload for .45 is one of the reasons for sticking with single stack. I really have no desire for a .40 or to load it so I am going to spend the money on a nice single stack. No desire for .40 and want a nice single stack? you sound like me. Maybe this attitude would get us into the Single Stack Elitist Society...Kirby
  7. Those old school guns still appeal to some of us old farts .Wilson only offers a comp on a Commander or officer sized 1911, and it's not a full profile comp...too bad or I'd buy one. Regards, Kirby
  8. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors Nastoff 45 compgun....nor anything that is thy neighbors.(had to remind myself of this)Regards, Kirby
  9. How about a Steve Nastoff dual port 45 with Bomars and 30 lpi checkering built on a 70 series Colt? That would get me wet and drippy....Kirby
  10. It works fine for me, smells better too. Regards, Kirby
  11. Clays is NOT suitable for 357Sig. A good friend of mine mistakenly substituted Clays for Universal. One shot kaboom, HiPower 357Sig destroyed. Luckily no one was injured. I was standing 15 feet behind him, scared the crap out of us. Regards, Kirby

    God's gun

Yeah, he coulda shot back rather than get nailed to the cross In all the reverence I can possibly muster, Jesus would shoot a Wilson Combat Supergrade 1911 with case-colored frame. .45, of course. Regards, Kirby
  13. I was afraid one of them was about to 'open a jar of whoop-ass'(not sure which one). I have been enjoying both of their well thought out, articulate posts. Also those of DCarden, Venry, HSmith and Flexmoney. Regards, Kirby
  14. The .45 230 RNL I received from S&S are excellent quality, and he shipped when he said he would. Regards, Kirby
  15. Okay, I just gotta know who added the Model 10 reference under my avatar My M10 is better looking than your M10...
  16. Try the Hornaday One-Shot Cleaner-Lubricant. It doesn't have the stinky-foot odor that the case lube has. Kirby
  17. 1977 at the Fort Harmar Rifle Club in Marietta, Ohio. Shooting with Ken Hackathorn, Rick Miller and those guys. Was 24 back then...Regards, Kirby
  18. If you are looking for accuracy, try 43.0 W748, Lake City match brass, F210M, seat your 168s to 2.800. Regards, Kirby
  19. Carmonizin'?! We don't need no stinkin' Carmonizin'! Just kidding. Mine is on the way to him now. (Cheech&Chong mode off) regards, Kirby
