  1. Thanks for the replies! The difference between MGM and the other companies is huge. Is there really that much of a difference in the steel?
  2. Last spring I bought 3/8 AR500 plates from an online vendor and it lasted about 2,500 rounds before I started getting cracks and pitting. The pistols don't destroy it but rifles under 100 yards do. I'd like to be able to work rifles on steel at 36 yards and farther. Are there any suggestions for quality steel that can hold up at closer ranges than 100 or 50 yards with a .223? I have two constraints: 1. I need seven pieces so cost is a consideration. 2. I store these at home and take them to my club, so weight is another issue. If this is the wrong area, please move. Thanks!
  3. I shoot because this is the only time I can dedicate my mind to something entirely. Well, shooting and surfing allow me to be single minded in an activity. Being from Indiana I don't get to surf much so shooting it is!
  4. I don't know that I agree with the above statement. While they are important, the ability to actually hold on to the pistol as you are shooting is more important than a perfect grip consistency. You can have a perfectly consistent grip, with locked wrists, and have absolutely no control of a pistol.
  5. I am using very similar loads to everyone here for my sigs with great results.
  6. I have been very impressed by the vortex line of scopes. The glass is amazing, mechanics are robust, prices are spot on, and the warranty is great. I think they might be the best deal in scopes right now. That being said I'd never buy a BSA I planned on using for any kind of real shooting. Plinking in the back yard maybe.
  7. I'm shooting a Sig X-5 all around in 9mm currently.
  8. I just made my own from kydex and put a tek lok on it. Runs great but I wouldn't mind getting it off my belt area because it takes up so much space.
  9. How does the glass compare with the two? At the end of the day the glass is my main factor. I am looking at the votrex and the SWFA for 3 gun. I'm mounting it in a larue mount on top of my SCAR 17. The FFP would be REALLY nice when you need to stretch a shot out.
  10. Thanks for the reply! Now for the next question. Is it worth the extra $400?
  11. I'm looking at the sp-01 and the sp-01 shadow. Aside from the extra mag, what is the difference between the two? Is the shadow much more accurate?
  12. There is one on gunbroker right now for $750 or so. That is around what I bought mine for. Great guns!! I'll probibly keep mine forever.
  13. Wow thanks for all the replies! I'll check out those websites today.
  14. Hey everybody. I took the plunge on a Witness Limited in .40. I bought the gun used. I have a couple of problems. 1. I don't know if this is an old or new style gun. Where would the marking be to find out? Serial number? 2. I can't find mags for this thing!! I'd like to compete with it (first timer here) but I am severely lacking in the mag department, I only have one. Thanks and here she is! Oh, and if you know where I can get mags for the CZ as well please point me in that direction! The CZ is an 75 ST IPSC in .40
  15. Thanks for the help everyone!!! I'll keep you posted on how it goes. I am looking to just learn for the first year, not win anything.
  16. Wow great info! Ok, here is the plan so far. Start going to matches immediately. Shoot my 226 for a few matches. I'm going to try to get my X-5 converted to .40. Good idea? I found another member on here who did the same thing via the search function. Get set up for reloading on a dillon. Should I go with the 650 or 550? Buy lots of mags and a few holsters. I have a fobus for my Sig and a Bladetech for my X-5. Thanks for the advice! Does anyone have any reviews on the EAA's? I haven't even SEEN one in person before.
  17. Thanks for the replies!! I only target shoot right now. I will be going to either the Michigan City matches or Chesterton. I was refered here from Rhino (I don't know if he is still an active member here) from indianagunowners because no one knew anything about the pistol's I was asking about (EAA Limited, gold team custom, etc. etc.) Is there any benefit to shooting .40 over 9mm? Will my sig 226 in 9mm be sufficent for production class? I don't know what class I want to shoot yet, as I haven't been to a match yet. I plan to start in the summer and go to a few meetings and watch a few matches before then.
  18. Hey everybody. I have been abusing the search function all morning and I couldn't come up with my answer. I am BRAND NEW to the whole competition shooting world and I'd like to get into it this summer. I'll have about $1500 to spend on pistol/gear. I have been watching the EAA limited's and gold team custom's but gunbroker hasn't been kind. I wouldn't mind getting 2 pistols to compete in different classes as well. So anyway, here is what I have: Glock 21C Glock 23C Sig 226 9mm Sig 220 Sport Sig X-5 SA
