  1. I'm down 30 lbs in 12 weeks. I'm really tired of chicken and vegetables. I've occasionally screwed up and eaten something sugary and processed and like you a felt like crap afterwards. After doing that a couple of times the memory of feeling physically ill comes back to me when I consider grabbing something sugary and I can easily pass on the bad urge.

I also don't think messing up a few times means you've failed or need some kind of a penance to be absolved. Don't let your mind take you into a dark place and you'll be able to roll with the setbacks without the self doubt. Good luck.

Look into paleo, you can lose eating a lot more than just chicken.

  3. Put a 300lb guy with competitive GM level shooting abilities into 30 different stages and, course design taken into account, there WILL be stages where his times are slower than if he were 200 pounds. i don't care who you are, you can't argue with physics. course design dependent, it simply takes more work to move a mass that is heavier, more work to keep it moving and more work to stop it from moving.

eta: and Dave is right. It's easier to do EVERYTHING related to shooting ~130bs lighter.

  4. My wife is in school to be a Dietitian, applying for internships right now. Not to long ago i was 215 now i am 183, and have not been on a single "fad" diet. I have kept it off for a year. She tells me that the "fad" diets will help loose weight fast but the odds are that 90% of the people will gain it back. Also it is not healthy to loose more than 1 lbs per week. A guide that dietitians follows is -1500 calories equals 1lbs loss. What it did was not cut out anything, i just followed the "rules". Eat less protein (meat, Americans eat too much meat),at least 2 servings of veggies and fruits. I even kept having deserts after dinner, but would limit to 100-150 calories. You should have the same amount of veggies as your protein on your plate. Also watch your sodium intake you should only have 900mg of sodium per day. I was surprised how much salt i was eating. At first i just cut my calories by 250 per day and loss 15 lbs. I then started running and was able to up my calories a bit to cover my energy needs. You don't need a fancy diet to loose weight and stay healthy. Just be smart if it is highly possessed then it will be high in fat or sodium and not good. And no Organic is not healthier (in my opinion it is a waist of money). Take it from me as i am a farm manager.

i eat too much meat and have lost way more than a pound a week (average of 3 to be exact) on a fad diet.

  5. I'm a 9.5 in Asics and New Balance and they are almost a perfect fit for running, just a tad narrow on my slightly wide feet. I'm a 9.5 in North Face Hedgehogs and they are super comfy but just a tad short for running shoes, but just fine for allday treking. The Inov-8 MudClaws are perfect for what we do at our range, which is sprinting through a mud and grass obstacle course. They are snug, but I think I'd leave a 4"x10"x2" hole before they lost traction or my foot rolled in the shoe.

One thing that has yet to be thought about in this sport is connection with the ground. An exaggerated example would be the difference between balancing on

    Airex-Balance-Pad-189155-PRODUCT-MEDIUM_IMAGE.jpg and 4708485525_5f1e1d6d79.jpg.

The MudClaw has decidedly less cushioning and more flex that most shoes and not as much difference between in height at the ball of the foot and the height at the heel. That's why I'm looking at the BareGrip 200, because it has no cushioning and 0 difference in heel toe height. But I have a hunch Inov-8 is going to give the last on their trail shoes a going over, so I'm waiting to jump into something like that.

Granted they are 3mm, I was considering checking out the x-talon 190s.

  6. Ordered a pair of Mudclaws for my wife (they didn't have my size). The shoes were too narrow and were returned to Zappos. Since inventory is so limited right now we are not able to try another size. Do the Inov8s usually run narrow?

i have 3 pairs of inov-8s (different models) and they all fit well but for people with wide feet i've heard that they should order a half size bigger.

  7. To add fuel to the fire I think the window is too long personally. I think every shooter should get the same amount of time between stand by and the beep. Is it equitable if you use random start times between 1-4 seconds?

I typically count thousand one, thousand two and hit it. I think it is more fair to keep it the same from shooter to shooter.

Conversely, I always try to vary the time that I wait so that shooters don't catch on to a pattern and get an advantage on the start.
