  2. I'm curious to know how much media folks use in their tumblers... Regardless of the size or the model of the tumbler, how much media to you put in the bowl? Half the bowl? More/less? I have an old used Lyman 600 and started filling it maybe a third to a half full then the rest brass. I assume less media means longer cleaning time? Thanks
  3. I am loading that with 4.2 Titegroup at 1.135 (ish) with mixed range brass and either a CCI primer or Magtech. The true OAL's come out anywhere from 1.125 to 1.145. I have not had the chrono for them yet but hope to perhaps Thursday. They function fine in my G17 and G34. If it chronos ok, I'm going to drop it back to 4.1, more like Sarge's load. With the hodgepodge of mixed brass I have my OAL is always inconsistent. YMMV
  4. I did this numerous times when I went from a Model 17 to a 34....drove myself nuts, with powder measuring, OAL...blah blah blah. It was simple, I was pushing it up, there was no jam or malfunction. I have had to adjust my grip and pressure a little, but it was all me causing it.

    Anyone here have...?

If and it's a big IF, I were to try and file the top of the sight down a small amount...is that a recipe for disaster or workable?

    Anyone here have...?

Thanks for the replies I'll keep working with them.
  7. Anyone here have (had) the Sevigny Competition sights on a Glock 34, with the .245 front sight height? The 34 is essentially a new gun, maybe 500-600 rounds, and I removed the stock sights. If so, my very initial impression (approx 50 rounds) is that they .245 is too tall and the pistol is low when I level the top edges of the rear and the top of the front. If it's me (and it well could be) I'd like to know. Hard to explain without a picture....I'd like to hear anyone else's experience with them if they care to share. Thanks.
  8. I use 4.5 grains of 231 on the same, 115 grain Precision Delta FMJ. I also use the 1.135 target OAL, but my OAL varies anywhere in reality from around 1.125 to 1.140. I use tons of these in a Glock 17 and haven't had any issues.
  9. This is terrific folks, thank you, I'd welcome anyone else's too. I may have overstated the problems with the FTE's, they are rare, and only in the Glock 19, the Glock 17 has never had any issue. I think I will load a few test rounds at 5.1 and see what the guns do with those, I will definitely find someone to chrono some rounds. I was particularly glad to see that the OAL's and powder drops were pretty good.
  10. I load with a Dillon 550, and basically shoot Saturday IDPA, some steel plates, and various training classes. For this purpose I have been loading a Precision Delta 115 grain FMJ, over 4.5 grains of 231, Win Sm Primer, mixed once-fired brass. The target OAL is 1.135. I am not a sophisticated loader and would like the input of those who are willing to offer their thoughts. I shoot this load mostly through a Glock 17. I recently shot some steel plates with my Glock 19, and I experienced several FTE, 1 double feed and several occasions where the round did not fully chamber (slide needed a bump) on the slide rack before a round. Not to bore everyone who bothers to read but I have several questions simply due to the fact that I really have no one around to discuss this stuff with. I measured 30 powder throws to see how consistent it was, I got: 4.5 4.45* 4.45 4.45 4.5 4.5 4.45 4.5 4.5 4.5 4.45 4.5 4.45 4.45 4.5 4.6 4.45 4.5 4.5 4.5 4.45 4.4 4.45 4.7 4.5 4.5 4.5 4.45 4.5 4.45 *I use a Dillon triple beam scale, no digital, the 4.45 measurement is in part a guesstimate, it is just a fraction below 4.5, but dropping the scale to 4.4 is excessive....so, I"m calling 4.45. Is this decent consistency? Or do I have problems with the powder throw? I also mic'd about 30 random rounds from a recent run of 300, I got: 1.134 1.134 1.136 1.133 1.135 1.136 1.134 1.138 1.134 1.135 1.135 1.136 1.138 1.136 1.135 1.134 1.134 1.137 1.135 1.135 1.135 1.138 1.134 1.134 1.136 1.134 1.136 1.134 1.137 1.134 Is this decent consistency for OAL? In light of the load specs above, should I adjust this OAL? Is this OAL a likely cause of the issue with the Glock 19? I hope to be able to shoot a few more state or regional IDPA matches this year, I don't have a chrono, and have never had this load chrono'd. Can anyone guesstimate whether this would be ok on the chrono? On my bench currently I also have Titegroup and Power Pistol, does anyone use either of these powders with a 115 gr FMJ? I'd appreciate anyone's input, thanks.
  11. I am running a 9mm set up as follows "once fired" brass, mixed head stamp WSP Primer 115gr FMJ 4.4 grains Win 231 My target COL is 1.130 I am getting variations from 1.125 to 1.134 on COL. The only variable that is obvious to me is the amount of bell that is being made at station 2. I notice most of the time at 3 when I place the bullet it sits in nicely prior to seating. Occasionally it is a little tight (not enough bell), but still seats. I did not and need to obviously mic the ones specifically that do this, but it didn't dawn on me til I typed this. I am guessing this belling variation is due to the very mixed brass I'm using. I would like the vets opinions here please. I am running practice ammo, no power factors etc... matter. I ran 50 and need to go to the range and see if they run in the 3 different 9's I have. Please let me know your thoughts, fixes or whether to worry about it at all. Thanks
  12. I have had no problems with 1.125 in a G17, Ruger P89 or a 92FS. I think I will start around 4.2gr. I don't have to be worried about PF's or the like, just enough to knock a steel plate over and punch paper.
  13. that is a wide variation from what is posted below, which is what worries me. I am going to have to spring for a good manual, my Lyman 47 just isn't much help. Thank you
  14. I cannot seem to find the data for FMJ. The Hodgdon site provides data for 231 and a 115gr LRN, but not FMJ...can anyone help here? Thank you.
  15. Thank you all, this is very helpful.
  16. Powder is very difficult for me to find right now of any kind. I buy 231 when I can and have some. For 9mm, 115g and 124g FMJ (and Berry's plated) I would appreciate a variety of powders that others use for these bullets. When I stumble across powder, I will have a list of options. When I actually find powder, I never have something handy to tell me if it is usable other than the 231 I normally use. I don't need load data, just specific powders I can keep on hand. I'll search for load data when needed. Thanks
