  1. I'm not exactly new, but it's been awhile. Life happened and I had to take a few years to just concentrate on family and bills. The great news at least for me is that this year looks like the year I can get back to shooting. For anyone from the Terre Haute area I was the guy shooting idpa with a glock 27. That puppy was quick out of the holster but not so good on distance. Anyway just wanted to say hi and see you at the range. John Heskett
  2. NOt had the specific issue so this is a SWAG. Wipe inside and out of the whole powder throw with the drier sheet including the shut. Then rub powdered graphite in the shut with a q-tip.
  3. I have done a little work with WST in .380acp. It hits max fairly quick. I maxed out at 3 grains WST under Berry's PFNHB 100grain. It reached an ave. of 751 fps. Out of a KT P3AT. I did run 3.4 grain and got 879 ave fps, but depending on the brass I was getting guppies. Guppies were in R-P brass, others seemed fine. btw: I do use Solo 1000 in the .380 with good results. Happy shooting
  4. 100gr Berry's under 2.9 to 3.5 Solo 1000 works well for me. Start with the low and work up. 2.9 = 658fps 3.3-3.4 = 810fps out of a P3AT. These are above powder company postings.
  5. $30 to $35 per K would not be unreasonable. However as you stated, you don't know what replacement cost will be.

    Glock Recall

Some years back I would go to and read The Gun Zone. It did not take long for the novelty to wear off. To each his own taste.
  7. OH, and an OAL on one style bullet profile will seat to a different OAL with another profile. Just because you had 29.3mm with the 115fmj does not mean you had 29.3mm with the 124tfmj. You may well have set this with calipers and this is not the issue. Just throwing out some ideas for you.
  8. This may not be related to your gun's issues. I found out that older mags with older style followers cause jams with some bullet styles. I had never had issues until I changed bullet profile. This drove me nuts until I found out some of my mags had #5 followers and others had #8 followers. The #8s worked just fine. btw: my gun is a G22 and profile change was to a semi-wadcutter. This same bullet is sensitive to OAL as well. So anyhow, you may want to do a quick and easy check on ALL your mags.

    Glock Recall

Heard of NO. BUT that is not very definitive. If I were on a game show I would call out to Glock.
  10. No tumble and accurate. Nice easy to see holes. I really like this bullet and powder combination. This is why I want to put the effort into it and get it to feed reliably.
  11. I have found that Bear Creek bullets do not overly lead the bore. As far as the leading, the test was a success. Now I have to work out feed issues. For the first time I am running into some rounds that do not pass the drop in the chamber test. I am also running into the nose-up feed issue. More sorting out to do. I will load some up longer and some shorter to see what is most reliable. I'm working with the 155gr BC in 40SW.
  12. Solo 1000 is close to the same volumetric density of Red Dot if that helps. My chart says S1000 has VMD of .133 but my lot is really .144. My chart says Red Dot has VMD of .141 so that is a scientific wild ass guess (SWAG).
  13. Yes WAP and Silhouette is the same powder with the EXCEPTION of the flash suppressant. Silhouette as it is flash suppressed, WAP is not. As for the recoil, I have used WST with very good success. Nice soft loads, but not as a maximum loading.
  14. Thank you all for your input. Kevin C., that is exactly the kind of data I was hoping for. The data looks consistent. I will continue to test in similar fashion. I am committed to the moly bullet at this point. Worse case I get a lone wolf barrel. BUT, I am hoping the OEM will stabilize at 100 or do rounds. Here's hoping.
  15. There are some powders that will meter better with one or the other. For instance, a powder may meter best with the disk but not so well with the bar. I have trouble getting consistency with Solo 1000 in charges under 4gr with the bar.
  16. That would be right, around 1mm. Actually I ment to say .041 inch wire.
  17. I replaced it with .041 safety wire. Any stiff small wire will do. One pic shows the tail bent down and the other shows how it is routed to the left of the screw head. The wire needs to be angled to the left so rounds eject properly. edited .41 to .041
  18. Are you talking about the PRO1000? If so are you talking about the wire that is held in place by a screw?
  19. I ran five 170gr (one string) and five 185gr (second string) at the beginning and recorded the ave velocity for each, then repeated at the end of the session. 3.9 to 4.0 grains solo 1000, Rem SPP. Most if not all the cases were federal. If there were any mixed in they were Winchester brass. The bullets are Precision. It is my understanding these are very soft. I believe the barrel to have been clean at the start. I ran a bore snake through it and did a good quick eyeballing of the inside. I did an good examination and cleaning when I got home. I did get some leading in the barrel. I did the old vinegar, hydrogen-peroxide cleaning so the I know absolutely the next session I am starting clean.
  20. OK, well that makes my envy meter drop a little.
  21. I have been testing some moly bullets in my G22. I chronographed at the beginning and again at the end of a 50 round session. The ending fps average is 30fps higher that the start. I will do more testing and chrono work with 100 rounds. Is this a normal rise in pressure with a stock Glock barrel? Do you think this is an issue?
  22. If loading for practice, a little fire out the muzzle is not that big a deal. But, if this is a defense loading that can be a big issue. You may want to try some Silhouette as it is flash suppressed. For what it is worth, around 2002 all I had was my G27 and I wanted to get started in IDPA. So that is what I did. Most of the time I was using off the shelf ammo. I found the 165gr bullet to be the best balance of snap and push in that little gun. I then started loading MG 165 with WST. It was a very nice load in the G27.
  23. Maybe a bit off topic, maybe not. . . Does hardcast moly leave less deposits in a stock glock barrel? I have been testing some soft lead molys in my stock G22 and am not entirely happy with the lead deposits.
  24. It is an amazing thing to watch. When I am old and crusty, I'm sure I'll be droning on about the spring and summer of 2009 and the drought.
  25. Aside from the quantity, it must be nice to be able to afford an order like that.
