I have built several on the caspian race ready frame w/ schumman bushing barrels for IDPA shooters with McCormick mags & all run perfect. It is in how you fit the barrel from the start.
Dr. I will need to put a standard recoil spring in & lighten the bolt. I don't recomend useing anything lighter than 3 dr./ 1 1/8 oz. loads. It will run w/ this & reduced recoil slugs. Anything less won't take down steel with edge hits reliably.
Layson, cannot change the scope once you start. you can change the power if it starts & stays on the scope but cannot add or substract once match starts.
I think the barrel is to short to try to burn all the powder that you will need in a larger case to make major. Slower powder in the larger cases need more barrel.
On the strong side safty where the detent is, file the safty at about a 30 degree angel towards the outside. this will keep the safty from comming out.
