  1. I do in training, as I pushed harder there than reload speed in matches. The key for me on keeping mags straight was not just tossing them in the hole, but to control the magazine in to complete seated position. Once I did this I no longer had the angled jams. I'm sure a big key to this was I shot single stack for a while before moving to limited/open. However, my dryfire has 10-15min of focused training on magazine insertion at the end of each session.
  2. Waybback when I had this angled insertion issue I removed my magwell and dryfire trained with out it. Haven’t had any issues since as I had to focus on correct placement. however, I realize it’s easier to change out magwells now and call it a day.
  3. The biggest impact to my off range training came from switching from plain dryfire to using the cool fire trainer. Having recoil forced me to grip the gun correctly all the time and not become relaxed. I never use the red laser attachment as I use reduced size targets so I can work on seeing sights lift and shooting at more focused spots.
  4. Will the tubes be ok if swap to 38sc followers? I have the Dawson mag tuning kit so I can fix the feed lips properly to 38sc. I don't need a spacer correct.
  5. How would 38sc or super run out of a 40sw sti mag? Changing followers wouldn't be a problem, nor would adjusting the feed lips.
  6. Thats what I was thinking, plan to make this thumb safety actually work if you unpin the thing, but figured it would look better if fitted in the pinned position.
  7. When pinning your beavertail, do you still blend the top with it out/on safe like normal? As I'm thinking of blending the top and bottom at the same time in the closed/pinned position for better aethestics. I'm sure this is all in what a person wants to do, just wanted to see if that was the norm.

The sig rep I spoke with on Thursday said they don't have a date yet. So still waiting for it. Haha
  9. Definitely is a fun division, wish I jumped to it a long time ago.
  10. Like this one ? http://pro-amshooting.com/ except if it was updated........
  11. I'm not saying it isn't justified, just sucks for people like me that don't have piles of money to throw at gear. and well said. I'm currently shopping for a 2011, but I won't compete again for a few years at best, so I clearly don't need it. still want it though. damn internet. Oh, I definitely hear ya. Since day one of Magpul Dynamics it was always funny to see people chasing after the guns Chris shoots. Except every couple months he has a new build, so you can see some disparity in people when they try to keep up with him. His first runs of M&Ps sold out in an hour or something like that. His LaRue rifles were gone in no time and he's helped grow the sales for the Warsport LVOA. The threads on AR com about Costa were always funny to read as they kept up with what gear he was switching too. Now lets see what STI does in growth with the general tactical public. I'm sure Chris does. His company name is slapped on the side, he's probably got some sort of percentage per sale.
  12. Sure, but look at what his marketing capabilities have grown to. Magpul products became the household name, Salient has exploded, Knights Armament grew in commercial recognition, LaRue built the costa rifle and sold out like none other. Surefire, Aimpoint, Vortex now. Hes a marketing beast when you make quality products. Not to mention, he does a great job instructing and is all out enjoyable to be around. Our industry is entirely driven on buying sh*t we don't need. But you make it look cool and we throw cash at it that we don't necessarily have.
  13. <---- sitting here in the corner with my 40 open STI, long dust cover and lightened slide, with Geco ammo that works the comp pretty darn well and keeps the gun shooting flat. granted, when I make master I'll build a 9major gun and reload for it, so I can not have to reload those extra few times a match, and because I love to tinker and that makes finding a 9major load fun.
  14. I deal with them quite often, but I've never purchased through their webstore. They were at ShotShow and most likely have not settled back in to their office grind yet. Send them a message through facebook as you may receive info back quicker that way.
  15. Still my favorite blaster for the past 4 years. Just changed the grip out though as mine cracked.
  16. I can weigh in as much as I have a live in girlfriend for while now. She is an athlete and extremely competitive, so when I put the 22 in her hand shooting paper she was 100% in until she hit bulls relatively consistently at 7-10yrds. So I gave her my limited gun to shoot while I did carbine drills and she liked that but the paper/reactive paper became boring. She attended my first match back after 3 years off but is not really interested in USPSA, but when I put a plate rack in front with the 22, she didn't want to stop. Steel challenge may be something down the line for us both to shoot. With that said, I've shot 3 other matches that she went off and did her own things during. The key to me is time management. I could shoot Tues night, Thurs night, Fri night, and Sundays like I did years ago. Mix in dry fire, etc and its 7days a week. But I know my relationship would go down the drain. By sticking to 2 sundays a month, which has me back home at lunch time works out to me in the best way possible. Luckily, compared to my other previous hobbies, shooting takes up the littlest amount. I also managed to sometimes slip in my 20min of dry fire during her shower time. The 1 thing I've recognized (and was said already by a few others) is giving as much time to her as you can. That way, on a random night if I have to work on the car, play with my guns, etc. It is more easily accepted to the relationship as I'm asking for just a few hours of the week for my own hobbies. She will usually read a book/email or call family/watch that tv show I refuse to during this time.
  17. I've got one for a glock. Dot is nice and appeared crisp with my non corrected astigmatism, mount sits low and is a lightweight option. I'm leaving my c-more on the open gun, still not a 100% committed to red dot carry guns but it seems like a fun option.
  18. what division? You should be fine on the over lap if you put it to the rear.
  19. I have 2 rigs, an open and production. I run that much overlap on both with no issues. Production to the front and open to the back. I like having a little more than too little because it seems like my belts get shorter as time passes by. That is how mine is. My first belt I bought up sizes - 33in waist so i bought a 36in and the overlap was about 2-3 inches. With the DAA belt keeper it was just wide enough to make it work. So when I moved from SS to Limited I bought another belt and jumped to 40in. Now I have roughly the entire section of velcro on the outer belt covered by overlap but I much prefer this.
  20. Ben Stoegers books are great. Fundamentals, Dry Fire, Live Fire, any of them really.
  21. Reporting Back- Finished reading his fundamentals book yesterday. (read 20 pages or so a night). Definitely worth the buy, lots of good information. Not all of it is new information, but there are points he makes that will make old information in your brain come back to the forefront. I started reading the dryfire book this morning before work. Will start the training process once my open gun comes back to me in 2 weeks or so.
  22. One last comment on processing everything- 1)Run through tumbler (walnut shells and Nu Finish) 2)Separate from media 3)Run through single stage with Bulge Buster 4)Run through LCT: Stage1 Decap/Size, Stage 1.5 New primer, Stage 2 Bell/AutoDrop, Stage 3 verify load/place bullet/seat bullet, Stage 4 factory crimp die 5)Check with Hundo case 6)Place in 100rnd box for shooting am I missing anything? I know to check my powder charges when I set up the auto drum and then should I check every 10 rounds till I'm comfortable?
  23. Is this the correct AWS scale $20? http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-GEMINI-20-Portable-MilliGram/dp/B0012TDNAM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1448039882&sr=8-1&keywords=AWS+Gemini+20
  24. Good catch! Figured they should all line up and was planning to run a red box for 40limited and blue box for 40open. Thanks fellas for all the tips/info! Appreciate it. I've been looking to reload for ages now and finally figured I'd take the leap. Everything I pulled was from Amazon prime so shipping wont matter (except the hundo). I will look in to the lee auto drum instead and the Inline Fabrication parts looks like a definite buy. I;ll take a look running a Redding taper crimp on the turret and using the lee crimp on the single stage for the bulge buster.
