First, which matches, if any, allow a competitor to switch to a back-up gun (rifle, shotgun or pistol) during a match if the primary gun goes down? Under what conditions (i.e. when) is a competitor allowed to switch to a back-up gun? Finally, who brings back-up guns to matches, and what do you bring; something identical to the primary gun, or just something similar but not exactly the same?

Cool thread; I remember watching Rob Leatham shoot at Hallsville in May 1988, and growing up in central Missouri, many of my shooting buddies got to shoot with Ray Chapman and Ed Brown. My first race gun came from George Huening @ WCPI in Indianapolis in 1990, a single stack .38 Super with dual port compensator.

It doesn't need the welded carrier either. I've had too many problems with welded carriers, so I just use a stock one now. And yes I do load weak hand. would you please elaborate on what specific problems you encountered with a welded carrier?
