  1. Must...........resist..............must................resist..................must.................resist.............. Based on this, maybe there will be more dropouts than you think.................. In all fairness, USPSA has never told me this, nor do I think they ever will. Must..............resist................must................resist............
  2. +2 and can I get a big Amen............. R
  3. Have to say a public congratulations to Rebecca for her recent win at the Open Nationals. I know she's worked hard this year and despite some gun and scope issues, managed to come out on top. We're mighty proud of her and her accomplishments. Congrats, Bec, you deserve it. And just for the record, I'm proud of you all the time, not just when you're running around with a gun.......... DP
  4. Trying to find the official USPSA press release for the '08 Nationals, and the list of media-type folks who would receive it, i.e., radio, newspaper, TV, etc. Thanks. Richard Jones Rice, VA
  5. Well, yes, I am somewhat biased, no shame there........... Congrats to Rebecca for her High Lady Open, High A Open, 4th overall Open at the VA/MD Section Match held this past weekend in the not-so-cool confines of Fredericksburg, VA. And congrats to all who endured the heat. Did I mention I was proud? Good job, Bec! Richard Jones Rice, VA
  6. Just a quick and public congratulations to Rebecca for her recent High Lady at Area 8. Clean match, great percentage, great overall placement. Good job, Bec. BTW, didn't the guy holding the camera behind you in Alan's pic win as well? Bec Rich
  7. Crimson Trace, of course............. You're worth it, right? rich
  8. Anyone ever tried this? Thought I'd give it a go for Steel Challenge, have a spare Serendipity in the safe that I don't mind chopping up. Thanks. Rich
  9. re: practice range..........<<Jeez...I hope this isn't the case, getting nickeled and dimed at every turn now......Now that I think of it ?? do you pay to practice at the California SC ?? I've only been once.>> Yes, there is a charge in CA. Oh, BTW, I believe that lunch is being served to everyone on Friday and Saturday for free………………. But, they do that at the Nationals, don't they? Rich
  10. Just got off the phone with Rebecca, Todd just told her that Kay C-M just got bitten by a snake and is being treated at a local hospital. Anit-venin was mentioned as well so I assume that it was poisonous. From what Todd said, she will be in the hospital for several days, out of commission for a couple of months. Of course, our thoughts and prayers are with Kay and Jerry and family. Will know more later and pass it along. Richard Jones Rice, VA
  11. "Richard, show Todd the video. He will get a kick out of it. Then ask him about my house in VA." Will do, and thanks for the comeback. Rich
  12. Thanks to all for the info, guess I need to go practice some. Consistent .7 draws and .11-.13 splits at an IPSC target at 10 yards is going to take me a while. Guess I didn't realize that it is such a common occurrence. "FWIW...there are a lot of people out there that "we've never heard of" that I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of a gunfight with." No doubt, but not the issue here. As a "top competitor", it's someone that I/we should have heard of, hence my confusion. Anyway, I figured out what I wanted to know. And for those concerned, I'm putting away the razor blade for now....... R
  13. Got this link to a video, was wondering who it is, as I don't recognize the shooter. Whoever it is, pretty darn good to shoot this fast doing a Mozambique, especially with a Taurus 1911 and a Kytac holster. Don't get to see the hits, but what the heck, you believe him, don't you? I was also told that when he was "competing", he was doing consistent .7 draws. To be truthful, I have apparently been training the wrong way, as I can't do that on a ONE yard target and don't even know anyone that knows anyone that can do that, so I was wondering, maybe he would teach a class.............. I think there are a couple of more videos there as well............. I understand that he is a "top competitor" that shoots a lot with Rob and Todd and Brian and Jerry and others, so you may understand my confusion when I say that I don't recognize him, but I've only been shooting for 10 years. He also knows 20-30 other shooters that can easily do this at 10 yards, so I am really frustrated, as I don't know any of them, either. I haven't had a chance to ask Todd about it, what with the S&W today, but I'll try one day next week........... Look familiar? How about helping a guy out? Thanks in advance............. Richard (thinking of turning in the M card) Jones Rice, VA Mozambique
  14. Always a class act...............and now.............. Congratulations to Rebecca for that A Open card!!! Good work, Bec, that dryfiring stuff really DOES pay off, doesn't it? Rich (yeah, I'm a proud dad) in VA
  15. Kim, If you still need John Benton's contact info let me know and I'll get it for you. Richard Jones
  16. Tman, Glad you were able to work something out and hope she enjoys the flowers. Just FYI, us florists make less per rose at V-Day than at any other time of the year due to the producers' price jacking/gouging. The only way I come out on it is by sheer volume. Rich (don't blame me, I'm just a small business owner!!!) in VA
  17. Sorry you had problems with flowers, that strikes close to home as my wife and I own a flower shop. Not a rebuttal, just for clarification: 1800Flowers doesn't do anything but act as the middle man between you and a local florist. You drop your dime to them, they contact a local florist, the local florist actually fills the order, 1800Flowers keeps a portion of the $$. They're just a flower pimp, as it were. The more middle men there are, the fewer flowers your GF receives. As a shop owner, I know from whence you speak, as they are a real PITA to deal with on my end, too. Also, the shop that filled the order probably doesn't have a clue that you're pissed. Find out which shop it is and maybe they will straighten it out for you. You're absolutely right, they SHOULD be bending over backwards for you. My shop would do whatever it took to make it right, period. Customer service is our life. As a supportive contribution (per the rules of this forum), I would recommend finding a local florist in your GF's area that can and will provide good service. Sometimes a flower is all a girl wants................ Even a single rose in a vase every so often will speak more eloquently than us guys ever could. Let me know if I can help and please don't lump all of US in with THEM. Rich (did I mention that 1800Flowers is a PITA?)
  18. But the Chinese judge only scored that as a 7.5.................... Nice recovery, good gun stuff............. Rich
  19. Well, gun is gone for a while, so hopefully it will get fixed in the interim. She shot the SC today at Blackwater, gun ran fine. I'll have to wait and see........... Thanks for the help. Rich
  20. OK, daughter's gun had not one, but TWO Jams From Hell last night when we were sighting in for the SC today at Blackwater. Slide stuck all the way back. Slide can be moved, but it takes considerable effort, like there's a big chunk of something stuck somewhere. Gun must be stripped before slide will operate. As soon as I remove the slide stop pin and move the slide any distance at all, it frees up, but I cannot see anything wrong with the link, etc. Slide stop comes out easily, don't have to drive it out. The only time I've seen something like this before was when a SA sheared the lug foot completely from the barrel. That doesn't appear to be the case here. Plus, this only happens at random, not every shot. This happened several months ago at a match, but I attributed it to a big chunk of brass in the works, as nothing like this had ever happened to the gun before, and zero problems for a couple or 3 thousand rounds 'til now......... Mag can be removed and slide remains stuck. Not that. Link pin is tight. Not that. C-More screws not protruding. Not that. Slide stop pin has been de-activated. Not that. Disconnector is functioning. Not that. Link appears to be OK. ?? Lug feet appear to be OK. ?? Slide stop pin appears to be OK. ?? Ejector pin appears to be OK. ?? I'm guessing something with the lugs, link, slide stop, guide rod, etc., but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. Any thoughts will be MOST welcome................ Rich (oh wait, my hair is ALREADY gray.........) in VA
  21. I hate it when generally semi (or is it quasi?) -intelligent people do really stupid things. Even if a Buck knife is a POS, you still shouldn’t do this to it…………….. This is what my brother-in-law did today at work. He was bragging to a bud on how sharp I got his piece o' crap knife with my new Tormek. One thing led to another, and………………. Yes, Buck, it WILL cut a bolt in half, just like you guys advertise. Big deal. I told my brother in law that I was going to sharpen a grade 8 bolt and cut the damn knife in half with it. Stoopid……………. Rich
  22. I believe that Precision Delta bought out the old Star equipment, etc.? Rich
  23. Odd..............hard to find 7625 here, but can get 350 OK. Plus, it shoots just a wee bit softer in daughter's (now) 38TJ. We used to shoot 7625, but darn hard to find now locally, and like the 350 better. Sorry I can't be of more help. 124 Precision Delta and 38TJ with a WSR primer. Old style 7-port Kruz comp, original Millennium Custom, 356 Nowlin barrel, two TJ holes. Will be lightening the frame and slide this winter to keep up with modern developments........... Rich
  24. I believe the Stevens 200's are basically pre-AccuTrigger Savages. Same action, same barrels. I have Rifle Basix and SSS triggers on rifles. Unless you want something less than 6-8 ozs, I prefer the SSS. My big 6BR bag gun has an R-B at 3 1/2 ozs. Rich
