  1. Just an update, 124gr Berrys thick plate bullet over 7gr Power Pistol averaged 1144fps out of an Elite Gold.
  2. V12 barrel on the Gold Team, whatever recoil spring was shipped with the pistol.
  3. 7.0 gr Power Pistol behind a Berry's 124gr thick plate bullet, tried both Winchester Small rifle and CCI Small Pistol primers. Work great, no pressure signs, great ejection, no hiccups and accurate enough. Didn't set up the chrono, but was real happy with the way it all worked. Everyone was complaining about the noise, smoke was minimal and they all went off, so I would say it's a winner. Thanks for the input.
  4. Thanks, I'll give it a try, of course I'll probably back off a little, and get lesser results. But that's what last minute people deserve.
  5. Out of ammo, went to the loading bench, out of powder! Scheist! Anybody have any favorite loads for 38 tj/super with 125 gr plated round nose bullets with Titegroup or Power Pistol? I am not trying to make major, just want to knock down some plates tomorrow at 30' with my Gold Team using Starline 38tj brass. I know, it's last minute, but that's the way my world goes. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions, I usually load 7625 but just don't seem to have any.
  6. Dillon's equipment, innovation, customer service have convinced me that Mike Dillon could paint a turd blue and sell it to me, and I would be happy with it's performance. Faithful customer since the add said " try it for 30 days, if your not happy, I'll pay to return it". Words that have ment much more to me than " I now pronounce you "Man and Wife". By the way the presses worked out better than the marriages.
  7. I have one of the Tanfoglio mounts with the rail, would love to sell it below market. Tried to post a pic, but haven't the time to figure it out. Would email a pic if your interested, even if only for ideas.
  8. Just a quick comment, I had aquired a new V12 before Christmas, and was unable to find bullets. Nealio stepped up and has been able to send me bullets at a very reasonable price. He has gone above and beyond to get me these bullets and responded to every pm immediatly. I know that he works, and has a family, and that he has worked so hard to help me out, is really amazing. These days, every store from Dillon to Target Barn is overwhelmed with the volume of orders that have come in, and pricing is really reflecting supply and demand. The fact that Nealio has gone out of his way to help me out, is beyond my ability to express my appreciation. I know that he is not the only person out there that would do this, but I just wanted to publicly thank him for his efforts.
  9. Nealio, The bullets worked out great! I had one failure to feed with the flat point powerbond's, but the gun isn't broken in yet, and I didn't shoot that many due to heavy snow. I just hate to loose new brass! I did push them to 1400fps and everything was fine and as one would expect out of a V12, recoil seemed no existant. I was shooting a Colt officers ACP before so that might be why I didn't notice the recoil. Thanks again, to one and all. By the way, I loaded them using the EGW small based sizing die and Lyman 9mm seater and crimp die, Dillon is way behind due to the current situation and I couldn't wait any longer. I may cancel the 38 super dies, I don't think I am going to need them.
  10. Nealio has graciously provided me with bullets, they are loaded to several different specs. I even loaded a few lead bullets, if I don't drink too much on the Friday night pub crawl, I'll make it to the range on Saturday. Try to chrono what I have and we'll take it from there. Thanks to all.
  11. Bob, I appreciate the reply, I had purchased the small base die that Henning recommends, and figured that I could use the 9mm seating die, just needed a 38 super factory crimp die. I am going to use my Dillon 550 to start, if I shoot it a lot, I'll get a conversion for the 650. Thanks again.
  12. Nealio, I couldn't find Powerbond or Xtreme in stock, but will backorder some, did you have a particular 9mm bullet that you got good results with?
  13. I'll try some of the plated bullets, the pistol comes new with a single port barrel and a V12 barrel. I'll fool around with velocities, and pressures, and if the results don't give me what I want, I'll just use them in a 9mm. Thanks guys, I appreciate your input.
  14. Adam B, did you experience alot of leading in the bore, did you use a store bought bullet or did you cast your own? What load? I was thinking a lower velocity load, for plinking/practice. I found some Berrys plated bullets, has anyone ever used them and what load. For this work I don't need to make major, I just need to make the gun work. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. With the rush for all things firearms, bullets have become unobtanium, has anyone used cast bullets in the polygonal bore 38 supers? If so, do you have any suggestions, as far as leading or over pressure. Any favorite bullet molds or cast bullets? I would appreciate any input, the loads would be for practice, and I've had lots of experience of cleaning out the compensator, Any input would be appreciated.
  16. Appreciate the quick reply, I just thought that with the 38 super sizer, the powder funnel would be the same as 9mm and just seat the bullet out further, the taper crimp I think would have to be changed, was looking at a Lee factory crimp die, just because I haven't ever used one. Just a thought, will probably order the Dillon dies next week. I have already shot the wad on the pistol and magazines, not to mention the brass, so what's a new set of dies anyway? I'm just starting to get scared, that she will find out that this isn't a 3 hundred dollar pistol, I don't know why, after all, I'm the man of the house! (just don't tell her I said that!)
  17. I have my new 38 super Gold Team and 2k tj brass, EGW undersize size die. Do I need to size the new brass? Been so long since I had new brass I don't remember if I resize it or just load it. Also, can I use the 9mm dies to seat the bullet and taper crimp, or should I get another die set. I will be using my 550 Dillon to start, if need be, I'll get a conversion for the 650. We'll see, just want to get started, and thought I'd ask instead of the usual trial and error.
  18. The news is that the Gold team runs great! I loaded the 230gr RN with 5.0 gr of 231, with the reshaped and shortened ejector and throated and polished chamber and ramp. Add in the modified extractor and polished bolt face, and it worked flawless, of course, just to temper my success, I loaded about 300 rounds just a smidge too long. So there were some feeding problems, but easily fixed. I again want to thank one and all, especially Henning for the call back, the encouragement and advice were priceless.
  19. Happy belated birthday, wish I'd known I would have baked a cake. Best wishes and thanks for the call about my 45Gold team, maybe I'll reinstall the Barry mount if your suggestions don't work out, I appreciate your candor and glad to know that I'm not the only one who won't give up!
  20. The EAA website lists a long slide in blue, It could be fitted to your Gold Team, or do you want the wonder finish.
  21. That's a possibility, but I should be able to get this to work, I still have ejector left to grind on and am looking for another so I have a spare when I ruin this one. I have spent far too long on this, and another mount would be my 6th, seems like a lot to go through.
  22. The pistol is in .45, I am usually using round nose 230gr lead, loaded with 5.6gr 231 and a 14# spring. I have run as low as 4.0gr 231 with a 12# spring with the original barrel and slide. Today I was able to get to the range and test it, experienced several stoppages, all related to the empty case not getting away. I had a partner along and had him watch while I was shooting and the empties are hitting the Double-Alpha 3n1 C-More mount. The mount is nicked up underneath from the brass hitting it. I believe that the empties are hitting the mount and reflecting back in the ejection port. So the question is how do I profile the ejector to throw them out and not up? The throating worked and the pistol actually fed semi wad cutters, so the polishing and porting I think were a success. I am really supprised how ruff everything is compared to the original, I guess that's how you keep the pricing reasonable.
  23. Here I am, polishing, throating the barrel, and about to tackle the extractor and ejector. At the last plate shoot, I had stoppages in 15 out of 18 magazines, frustrated, I ordered a new 38 super Gold team, because I couldn't hit anything, I sent the C-More off to the factory for a look over. I am even looking at my medication, and eye glasses. The new pistol hasn't arrived, the eyeglasses are new, the C-More is back(no charge!), I don't take medication, but I have the old dog apart and am going to range test it after the extractor and ejector are done. I have studied all the posts, I have examined Henning's extractor photo, and am just asking: Anyone have anything else to add? I hope the feeding is adequately addressed, there really are a lot of tool marks on the feed ramp and bolt face. I have a selection of springs, and loads to go along, and I have 2 spare extractors. I am hoping for a breakthrough, after all it has been years and this is the third barrel and slide. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
