Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Hey all, I had a friend of mine ( who knows that I reload ) give me about 700 rounds of .223 wolf spent casings. I have never reloaded this kind of case before. I have reloaded brass .223 before but not this kind of casing. It does not look like brass but another type of case because of its color. Is this safe to reload? Thanks, Rchjr
  2. Hello all, I am planning on doing some reloading for .357 magnum and have a question as to what primers to use. I will be using Imr 700 x powder with a moderate load. Can regular small pistol primers be used? I have some federal smal pistol magnums 100's. In have seen that to use federal primers they call for 200's. Not being familiar with the federals what is the difference between 100's and 200's? I dont plan on using max loads, just medium loads for desert plinking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rchjr
  3. No I did not clean the rifle, but I did change magazines. That might be what the issue here is. I did use the same magazines ( I have 4 ) for each group of ammo each time. I will do an experiment and see if that might be the culprit. Thanks, Rchjr
  4. Yes, ejects like it is supposed to. This is the strangest thing that I have seen since reloading for the last 10 yrs. I started by reloading with a certian weight that I wanted to chronograph. I used the spanish brass and also made up some new brass as well ( 10 of each ). Set the chrono up first two shots would not eject, but the following 8 did. Changed clips, used the new brass and all 10 ejected like they were supposed to. Reloaded another group of 20 up 10 spanish brass and 10 r & P. Got the chrono set up, first two of the spanish would not eject as before a week ago, then the following 8 worked fine. Changed clips, all 10 of the r & p brass worked just fine. Went home scratching my head wondering what would casue that. At least I got the chrono results I was looking for! Rchjr
  5. Ah..........I see, I wish I had the head stamp markings with me I would post it. What is strange about this is that it is always the first two rounds that do it.Then the rest shoot fine. Then I use the r & p brass and have no problems. Thanks again, Rchjr
  6. uscbigdawg, Thanks for the response, when I reload ( resize and deprime ) it feels like any other cartridge I might be reloading. I can tell no difference in the way it feels when reloaidng. When I ejected the cartridge and picked it up to see if looked different in any way it was a little warm to the touch, felt like most of them I pick up after firing. Thanks again for the response, Rchjr
  7. Hello all, I have been reloading for quite sometime and have never had this issue before. I bought some spanish .308 reloadable ammo awhile back. I reloaded it and when I shoot it from my m14 the first couple of shots will fire but not eject. I also have some brand new r & p brass and as soon as I use that it shoots and ejects just fine. The spanish brass I have cleaned out the primer pockets with the rcbs case prep machine. Check case length and trim as needed. This has happened on two seperate occassions now and I cant figure out what the problem might be. I dont think it is the rifle because it works flawlessly with the r & p brass. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Rchjr
  8. Call Pact and send it to them for repair. They have my club timer right now.. doing that same magic reboot issue. Something about the main board. Mainshootah, Thanks for the response, but that was the one thing I did not want to do. Do you have any idea how long it will take? Again........Thanks Rchjr I called today and was told it would be 4 weeks! I voiced my displeasure at the length of time it would be in for repair. I could tell that who ever I was talking too did not give a $hit! He told me that they do not have someone full time for repairs. I have had no problems with this chronograph but have read at all the other problems that people have had with it. I think their customer service is horrible. At this point I do no think I would recommed this product because of their attitude of the length of time it nees to be there for repair. Rchjr

  10. Hello all, I have had my pact chronograph xp for over a year with no problems and now have one. When I am printng my strings that I have shot when it gets to shot number 5 in every string the machine stops printing and reboots itself. Has anyone ever had this happen before? I did change the battery so it is not that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rchjr
  11. I have had my 550 press for 12 - 13 yrs. As of late I had been experiencing some problems with it. Mainly the main shaft had some play into it, everytime I would bring the handle down it would move to the right more than it should. I live in Phoenix so I called Dillon and explained the problems I had been having. The person on the phone told me that I should bring it in for an over haul at no charge. When I went down to pick it up the machine looked the way it did when it was new. Not only did they upgrade it to the new style , but the replaced stuff that really didnt need to be replaced! If you are thinking about having your press overhauled.........it is well worth it! Rchjr
  12. Thanks for all the suggestions, I plan on trying them out and will let you all know how it goes. Rchjr
  13. Hi there fellow dillon reloaders, I have had dillon equipment for the last 12 yrs. During all this time I had one powder measure system that I have had no problems with. I have since bought a few of the new style power measure systems. The new style have a problem with them, they are dropping an excessive amount of powder after filling a cartridge. I have called dillon and they always say the same thing, take a anti static bounce sheet and rub thru out the system I do that and it does not correct the problem. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what did you do to correct it. This is happening with ball and extruded powder. It is dropping so much powder that I have to stop and clean it all up because it is gumming up the press. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks, Rchjr
