  1. I'll post a few pictures of my electronic counter as soon as I get it adjusted right. I purchased an electronic head from Graingers and mounted it to the Case Feeder support. I have an IR transmitter and receiver mounted to a bracket on the ejection chute to catch the bullet as it exits the reloader. So far, it misses about 1 out of every 200 rounds and I can't seem to catch it in the act of missing that count. I think the round is tumbling over the beam rather than through it. So close... Anyway, the parts total is right at $60 now and it is not dependant on the toolhead or caliber.
  2. There should be a small black threaded rod that screws into the end of the shaft with a lock nut on it. You insert that into the crimp die and adjust the length of the rod until it advances the counter with a round in the die. I used to have one of these on each of my crimp dies. unfortunately, if you load lead bullets, they mark the top of the bullet. If you're missing the rod, just take the counter down to Home Depot or Lowe's and find a long screw or threaded rod that will fit the threads. I'm currently converting to a homemade electronic counter. The counter is an electronic unit purchased from granger and the sensor is an opto circuit mounted to the chute so that the bullet breaks the beam as it falls in the chute. The advantage to this is that one counter will work for all heads (and not have to be removed from the machine when you change toolheads). It will also count rifle rounds (and others that don't have a separate crimp die.) Thanks for the answer. Is there some kind of plunger that goes in the crimp die? Mine has a threaded shaft hooked to the counter.
  3. The 1050 shows that it can load the .30-06 with is listed as having an OAL of 3.34in, The 7mm Mag is listed with an OAL 3.29 so I assume it could handle anything up to the OAL of the .30-06. might be worth trying. I'm kind of thinking the case feed adaptors might be the limiting factor though.
  4. I was wondering if any 1050 loaders have loaded calibers that are not listed on Dillon's Conversions. For instance, my 550 manual shows that 7mm Mag uses the same shell plate as .500 S&W. Even though 7mm Mag is not listed, the .500 S&W is for the 1050. Seems to me that the 1050 could actually load a few more calibers than shown in the manual. Any ideas why they don't list them?
  5. I had a 550. sold it after I went to a 650 right after the 650 came out. This year I got a 1050 and replaced my 550 (for all those calibers the 1050 won't load) Was boxing my 650 up to sell on ebay and nearly broke down crying. Now I have a 1050 and 550 on my loading bench with a boxed 650 in the garage... Guess I need another loading bench to put the 650 back on (and maybe fit the SL900 on too) And then of course, I have to figure out what I'm going to load that .50BMG on next... (doesn't matter that I don't own a .50 BMG yet. I will someday!)
  6. I seem to be able to put about 3/4 of a pound in the standard hopper, so I assume the 2x is 1.5 pounds.
