  1. I used to have a pair of 625s; a -? (Frame firing pin) & a V comp but now all I have are all the things to go with a 625; 100+ moons, BMT loader, holster(s), several k punkinheads and whatnot. I’m wondering if trying to get rid of the 45 stuff and go with a 929 & all its accruements is the best bet. I asked myself “why do I wanna get back into Revo?” - I think it’s because there’s more to do, and since that’s true, a 6 shot is better cuz ya gotta do that much more! I’ve been looking around for the last couple months and a 625JM is about as hard to find as a 929 and still pretty expensive so I kinda gotta be sure - I know I don’t want both. I guess I’m leaning towards a 625 - Ideas?
  2. Yup, you’re right on all accounts. The cool thing I saw was it would ring a MGM BCC plate with authority so it should smack a hog pretty good and it is real quiet too. All you really would need is a barrel and a way to tune the reciprocating mass [bCG, Buffer, Spring...] to the load you want. Kinda like getting a 1911 to just run on barely major ammo. The other thing I was cautioned about was trying to use 223 brass. Attempting to anneal, cut to length, reform then size a piece of brass that likely was intended to be used once and discarded [as in most Mil Spec brass] will result in early case separation. He said there are lots of guys doing it but unless you intend to process it then leave it on the ground, you’re asking for trouble. One of the reps mentioned the best case neck remover he had found but I forget the name. I don’t have a line on parts per say, but I do have a bucket of Gemtech 300 BLK brass that I won’t be using. We picked it after running all our squads. This was born 300 BLK and if loaded sub sonic should last 8-10 loadings. It weighs 27 lbs. and figures to be about 2K. I polished it and can ship it in USPS one rate box. The 223 reformed stuff seems to go for around $.25- $.28 ea. so I thought $.25 shipped would be fair. I even have a box [20] of the new rounds that flip out when we clear the rifle that I’ll through in. This would set you up for life and you won't have to try to make something else work - and it's all the same mfg. LMK what you think, Earl 360-649-3693 ejull@hotmail.com
  3. I was the CRO on Stage 6 [the NVG house] again this year and got a lot of insight on the 300 Blackout from the owner of Gemtech - Mr. Vickers. Gemtech and PWS have put a lot of time into perfecting this round / rifle / suppressor and I got to see firsthand its performance over the long weekend. If you’re considering building one – I may be able to help. Earl
  4. If that’s all you have, come on out and shoot it. I’ll bend the rules but I'm not making a division for .22 though. Since my last post the stage designer for the stage with the longest range [100 yds +/-] has added some reactive targets that may not give enough indication when hit with a .22 - 4 of them MIGHT and I’m pretty sure 3 won’t move at all. We won’t turn you away but the game is intended to be played with .223, 9mm & 20 ga. or better. This is a great idea for a different match though. I’ll work on it and see when I can add it to our schedule. Thanks, Earl
  5. The Courage Classic is a Multi gun charity match produced by Kitsap Rifle & Revolver Club to benefit Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society. Match dates are August 29 [staff], 30 & 31 I like how the match is coming together. The stages will be a lot of fun to shoot. If you haven’t signed up and you want to shoot, you may want to get your application in; http://gunsafety.org/CourageClassic/2014_Courage_Classic_Entry.pdf Some information that isn’t on the web site; Lunch will be provided by Tommy C’s of Port Orchard. Since we aren’t doing a “long range” stage [instead we use rather small targets out to about 50 yds] I decided to run a Precision Side Match on Sunday after the main match finishes. Originally this was to be a MOR match but I opened it up to any rifle up to magnum calibers. A .308 is more than enough gun for this – the longest target is only 200 yards [yea, I know what you’re going to say]. You’ll need 50 rounds and $20 to play. Start time for all 3 days 0800. That’s shots fired so all the preliminary stuff has to be done before then, you should plan to be there by 0700. More to follow I’m sure, Earl
  6. On June 8 [sunday] we will have a Multigun match at Kitsap. It will be our regular USPSA Pistol match on Saturday then predominately Rifle & Shotgun on Sunday but bring your pistol – there may be some “option” targets! You’ll want to bring 200 rifle, 100 shot and a few pistol – thrown in some slugs too [no more than 10] just in case I see an interesting place to put a slug target. The Courage Classic is going to be Aug 29, 31 and this will be good practice for local folks. – Here’s a link to our map; http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=4900 Seabeck Hwy NW, Bremerton, WA 98312 Hope to see ya there, Earl ejull@hotmail.com 360-649-3693
  7. This is kind of a late notice - I apologize. However this match will likely only appeal to local 3 gunners anyway. What we're doing at KRRC in Bremerton, WA is what we used to do 10 years ago; A regular pistol match on Saturday, and then after a few changes to the stages, run 3 shotgun and 3 rifle stages on Sunday. We like to start shooting around 0900 and you'll want to bring 200 pistol [sat] 150 Rifle, 75 shot & a few slugs [sun]. Gunsafety.org is our web site. Hope to see you there, Earl
  8. Ok, so here I go again. Anyone want to go riding while at, or more likely, after the match? There are world class trail systems literally across the highway from the range. RJ told me about an area called China Hat that sounds cool. Terry and I rode some of them last year and had a blast. He has a great new job and cant get a lot of time off yet. If youre interested and have gear but lack a bike, drop me a line. See ya there, Earl 360-649-3693
  9. Is anyone else thinking of bringing their dirt bike? Most of what I ride is very tight and heavily treed, the open area near the range has intrigued me for some time. Trav told me about an area a 1/2hr away - Jump Creek I think. I found a BLM OHV area near there called Owyhee Front with links to maps; http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/visit_and_play/places_to_see/owyhee_field_office/ohv_riding.html From what Rider Planet says it looks like a 50 mile loop but with all the trails there we could shorten that I’m sure or split it up – say before and after lunch http://www.riderplanetusa.com/atv/trails/info/idaho_04366/ride_9cc5.htm We could go on a day before or after the match or on Wednesday. What do ya think? Earl
  10. Hey Chuck, We had a big box show up over the weekend - very cool. Terry and I are stoked for this one - glad we stepped up. Just gotta figure out how to block the light out of the camper so we can sleep through the days - I'm sure I could recycle some targets... Thanks again, Earl & Terry
  11. When someone asks me “So, how was the Ironman?” I say “Ask me on Tuesday.” It’s a long 11 days and it takes me a couple days to decompress. Well, today is Tuesday so here goes. The stages were the best yet, and I’ve seen more than a few Ironman stages. Although the R/Os really are the best a MD can hope for, the shooter didn’t need to be told “Go here, shoot that steel, go there and shoot that paper, come back here and shoot that steel again…….” The stages were laid out such that they could be shot with minimal help and that was good. The prize tables for the first match were ok and for the second match were almost doubled thanks to JP, Seekens and others bringing great certificates with them to the match. Thanks guys, it made my job real easy! The campfires were great! Quite possibly the best “Poncho, Poncho, Poncho” and “Little Duck” ever! The weather beat me like a rented mule but since the number one motto of the Ironman is “No weenies, crybabies or poo poo heads allowed”, I’ll let that one go. Only 2 things broke this year and I fixed one in the “shop” conex and Mike took the other back to his shop where it was welded and is on it’s way to me as I write this. This brings me to my last point; The entire Gibson clan are among the best people I know – not just shooting sports people, but of everyone I know they consistently prove themselves to be the kind of people I am privilaged to be around. Thanks to all, Earl Jull
  12. Doug and Steve have hit the nail on the head. There may be a day when I just want to shoot a match and it would be a shame if there were none to go to - I perfer to drive so that limits my choices some - but you get the idea. Earl
  13. I've used "grey area" situations like this one where a rule may not have been broken but it just didn't go down right as a teaching point. Instead of a DQ, an opportunity to gather the squad and go over what went down and finish with "Let's ALL make sure it doesn’t happen again!" This almost always is preferable to being the a-hole R/O who sends a guy home for no good reason. If the goal is a safely run stage this is another tool to make it so - it has worked well for me. Earl
  14. Well Done Travis - Well Done!!!! What a great idea. I'm proud of you! See Ya soon, Earl
  15. I like the show a lot. I especially thought it was cool when my kids texted me at work and said I was on an episode [ironman II]. Any show about shooting is good for shooting / firearms ownership. Every discipline is it’s own piece of the same pie. I TiVo 8 different shooting shows –there are more but I have to show some restraint. I remember when there was just one – “The Shootin’ Show”. Our society is lead by the media so we need to be careful about knocking any of the shooting shows. If you don’t like a show, don’t watch it! More importantly keep your opinion to yourself because someone else probably does like it. Again, any shooting show is good for our sport. Chad and the 3GN producers have a job to do and folks to answer to. While they may ask for our suggestions on how to how to put their show together I have to believe our opinion is of very little value in their production of the show.
  16. I'm with Pat. However, if a MD were to create a division that were He Man but allowed a magnifing optic, I would proably dust off the M1A SM again. I do enjoy shooting my SA longslide , my 870 and the M1A. It is getting hard to see the little steel targets through the peep though so a VP scope & Switchview would be nice.
  17. Years ago Mike Gibson had the brilliant idea to put the prizes into black duffels – donated by Speer / ATK. You went into the room picked a bag, went out the rifle line and opened it. That’s when the fun really began we all swapped with each other and had a great time. Doug and Scott did nearly the same thing at their NWMGC in Albany last month – that was a lot of fun too. Random draw is the way to go. I do think the Setup / Tear down crews and the ROs should get a bigger chunk of the pool that what I’ve seen in the past few years.
  18. Ok, so here is the deal. At the NWMGC in Albany last month my son, Terry, got in his prize bag this kick ass, pig sticking, semi auto SOG knife. I wasn’t concerned with him owning a knife like this [he is an Eagle Scout] but if he should forget it’s in his pocket and get caught with it at school they will blow a gasket and I’ll have to bail him out. So I suggested to him that ...

  19. What I have done is put a drywall screw into an old golf ball – I find lots of them when I’m looking for my ball. Then I tie 2’-3’ of fishing line on the screw and onto the end of a 4’ piece of rebar. I drive the rebar into the berm at a 45 deg. angle at anywhere between 25 – 75 yards. It is a pretty challenging target, doesn’t cost hardly anything and will soak up quite a few rounds. Just grazing it will really make it dance too. Occasionally it will get hit solidly enough to break the string so make up a bunch. There ya go, Earl
  20. I should have posted this earlier but I'm not much of a poster. Doug and Scott took this on and may not have realized what they were getting into - it really is a lot of work. Thank you guys for all you have done to pull the match off. I'm reminded of something my Uncle Charlie used to say "Everything worthwhile is difficult before it is easy" - so next year should be easier, right?! Ian, Pete & Don went way overboard to sponsor this stage. All of you who shot it heard me tell you all they did to make the dark house stage not just one of a kind but likely the best you'll have ever shot. Yea, it was a little hot in there - 130 F - but I just told myself "it's no hotter than a small house fire so suck it up". But thanks to my son, Terry, resetting it really was an easy stage to RO. I'm glad you all had a good time and I look forward to the next one. Along those lines, for next year, we should figure out a place to have a big BBQ / hanging out / cigar smoking / keg taping whale of a good time during the match. Is there someone who lives in the Albany area that could look into this? Thanks to all and see ya soon, Earl
  21. I'm in!!! If your thinking of doing it at the range my BBQ will be set up next to my trailer all week & I may have some Apple Juice to bring also. Good job setting this up Aaron. See Ya soon, Earl
  22. #3. Crimson Trace! Crimson Trace is on board and is donating to the cause and Iain has given us the great idea to have a dark house with some night vision devices and IR lasers. Crimson Trace is going to supply all props for this stage thanks to Iain Harrison...all I can say is this will be a first for most shooters to do this. Now if I can just find an RO that can act like a tunnel rat! Please remember these companies when you need supplies/things. Yes, they support our sport! That is all for now...will keep you posted. Sincerely, RLTW, Scott Hell Yea! I'll run it! We'll have fun - Whoo Hoo! Hasta, Earl
  23. What I have is a G-35 with a big [heavy] magwell and a MGM Glocktail held on by a Houge sleave. It fits my hand but not my son's - his is a 34 shaved down with some grip tape. I would like to run 9mm for timed fire multigun matches and I have a boatload of components to load 'em. I swapped the top ends at my house and they seemed to be ok but haven't had a chance to get to the range to see if it really shoots. I thought I'd see if any of you had thoughts on the idea. I can't see why it wouldn't work but I don't know that much about Glocks either. Thanks, Earl
