  7. A guy who trains armed security guards told me to try to put some pressure against the frame with my strong hand thumb. I shoot a Glock 17 and was shooting low left. When I applied some pressure to the frame with my thumb my shots straightened out and accuracy improved. When I got my 4th gen G34 I had to change the slide release to a flat G17 slide release in order to place my thumb in that area. Works good for me, may not work for you.

  10. We are having a Regional Action Pistol Match in Berrien Springs, Michgan the weekend before Bianchi on May 19th, and an Action Pistol State Championship the next day on May 20th. Many of the guys shoot this match on the way to Columbia. We are also having an indoor Action Pistol match in Benton Harbor, MI on March 25th. In case you wonder why I post this here instead of in the Match announcements section of the forum, instructions in that section state that Action Pistol match announcements should be listed in the Action Pistol part of the forum and I thought that the Marketing Action Pistol thread may be a good place to advise you of an opportunity to shoot a regional and state AP match. Feel free to let me know if I should post this in a different place.
  11. We have a 22 class here in Berrien Springs, Michigan for our regional out door in May and for our winter indoor match. My daughter started shooting AP when she was 14 with a 22. She has shot three regionals with a 22 and cannot wait for the annual regional shoot in May. The high school she attends even has a photo of her shooting the barricade event in the show case at the entry way of the school along with a letter from the NRA. Allowing rimfire on the local level really got her into the sport. We are now talking about shooting centerfire and going to Bianchi together.
  12. The main reason I check this forum dailey is to get information on NRA Action Pistol. I especially look for posts by NRAActionPistol. Just so so know NRA Pistol Dept if you are still watching.
  13. I always carry a right hand and left hand golf glove. I have the ends of the fingers cut out of the right hand glove which I use against the barricade in Action Pistol when shooting on the left hand side of the barricade. I shoot a 3rd gen Glock and sometimes I get a better grip with my left hand with the glove even though I have tape on the grip depending on the weather conditions. I did notice some other guys doing the same at a GSSF shoot.
  14. It has been between one and two years ago that Dave Sevigney has two guns, range bag, and even his first aid kit stolen from his truck in Georgia in an Olive Garden parking lot after a match. He said his windows were tinted and there were no obvious signs that there were guns in the truck. He was upset about loosing the G34 that he had won so many major matches with. I suggested to him that someone may have followed him from the match but he said he was with a group and did not see anyone following them. He said he would be taking him guns in with him from then on.
  15. As far as the distance to go prone, it may depend on your division also. My production gun with no mag well is very low especially at the closer distances and it is hard to get your head down far enough to see through the sites. I am told you cannot build up the pad on your mat in production. Maybe using a different position is an option?
  16. Last year I shot about 8,000 rounds into the front yard, none this year because I wore out my gun. I did not even see any of them this year. They were not bio degradeable, don't know what happened to them. Plan to get another 8,000 to 10,000 in the yard in 2011.
  17. Has anyone bought the do it yourself mold kit? Wonder if it makes decent hearing protection.

I have one of the gas blow back models that Manny sells for about $120.00. Shot 7,000 rounds through it and wore it out (one summer). Manny told me that he has gone through several of them using them for practice. The trigger was much lighter than my 17 with a minus connector but the trigger reset is VERY similar and I used it to learn the trigger reset when shooting my G17.
  19. I own and shoot a G17. I shoot more accurately with a M&P Pro. I stay with the Glock because they are simple and easy for the owner to work with, durable, lots of parts available and reliable. You may also want to take into consideration that Glock has the GSSF (Glock Shooting Sports Foundation). These are shoots for Glock owners and the prizes are generous. Several guns are usually given away along with cash and memberships.
  20. The gun Manny sells is an HFC. I bought one of these from someone else. Got about 7000 rounds through it (one summer) before it went to hell. Pellets roll out the barrel and spit out of the top. If you are going to buy one of these, buy it from Manny because he stands behind them. Fits in my G-17 holster, trigger pull is much lighter, about two pounds but the reset is very similar.
  21. How can I get started in Steel shooting? I live in SW Michigan. There are no local clubs active in Steel shooting that I know of.
  22. One day I was sitting in a chair waiting at the license branch and I pulled my pen out of my pocket and put my finger on the end of it and started pulling it like I was pulling a trigger. I noticed that I was moving the pen to the side when I pulled it back so I adjusted my finger so that it was touching the top of the pen near the end of my finger and I was pulling it almost straight back with my finger in that position. This may not mean anything but I thought it was kind of interesting.
  23. A quote from Todd Bender in the December issue of Skeet Shooting.... "As screwy as it sounds, not trying to win a competition is the best way to win one." Todd Bender is the 2009 World Skeet Champion.
  24. Ken, I have tried a couple of times to send you some photos that I took at the regional in Michigan but I dont you ever got them. You can PM me with an address if you did not recieve them.
  25. This is also something I have also been thinking about. This summer there was a shoot at our local club that I had been looking forward to. On the day of the shoot I was not so excited about it but I went anyway to support the guy who organized the shoot. On that particular day I was not concerned with winning any more, just shooting as I had practiced. When the results were sent out I had actually won the match! I tried to think back about how I did it. What were my site pictures? How can I repeat this match? I could not remember any of the details of what I was doing in any detail. As Brian says, it was just about the shooting. I learned alot from that match that I almost did not attend.
