Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I use a slower powder, i.e., AA#5 in the 9mm 151gr. lead. just takes 4.5 gr and 1.42" COL for the conical flat point. Great accuracy and soft shooting plate killer. EW
  2. Might otta try a different lube. I've found that some of my lubricants smoke more than others. EW
  3. Sounds like you might be swagging the bullet down instead of closing the case down. Back off the crimp die some and try it again. Just close it tight enough that you cannot push the bullet into the case when you press it into your bench with your thumb on the head of the case. EW
  4. I pretty much gave up on keeping both eyes open and now miss just as badly with both eyes closed. EW
  5. Sorry that you're having tennis elbow and that the pain pills and creams didn't help but have you ever used the strap around your forearm? I did not believe it would work but after about 36 hours of it, I felt relief. It;s really just a strap with Velcro and it is only tight enough to hold it just below the elbow. Check you pharmacy for it. It's much simpler than anything and works great. EW
  6. You need to move that chrono out to ten feet. You're measuring gas and flakes of powder at 6'. EW
  7. Eric, those were great to watch and very relevant to any sport that we humans might participate in. Thanks EW
  8. I like what Perrysho said about grounding the powder container but if that's not easily done, keep some anti static dryer sheets near by and wipe your container down ever so often. It really won't make that much difference but it might make that 0.1 (between 4.1 & 4.2) more consistent. EW
  9. I don't call it "redeveloping" but I'd lot rather set up the chrono and check it than to blow up a gun. I'll back off a couple tenths and try them on a few. If you're buying 8lbs at a time it's not gonna change for another couple of thousand rounds. EW
  10. I don't know about Lyman but RCBS and Dillon are not interchangeable. EW
  11. An occasional "Failure" is acceptable if it is a "reload". EW
  12. 1.225"OAL 4.4gr for 830FPS to 5.1gr for 910FPS This is straight from: http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp EW
  13. It would help to know what weight we are dealing with. EW
  14. If the reload book calls for large magnum primers, don't try to substitute large pistol primers. Some powders require more ignition for safe loads. I don't recall any loads for .45 ACP requiring Magnum primers. EW
  15. If you called Precision, I think that they would ask what powder and what your load is. Some moly bullet makers suggest not to use fast, hot powders like TightGrooup. EW
