  1. So, will there be Pro categories ie. Pro Lady, Junior, Youth, etc. as well as Am Lady, etc, etc?
  2. Exactly MarkCO... And that's why the word "Pro" seems out of place in this sport. Let's face it, this is an amateur sport and an amateur should have the opportunity to go for the title. Those that have specialized in RFC should know this better than most. If being a professional in the shooting sports is your goal, then all the power to you! However, maybe the RFC is not the right venue to focus ALL of your time and effort. I mean no disrespect as I know there is ALOT of talent out there, but being a pro in a sport that is designed for beginners may not have the value they are hoping for. That being said, the random prize tables throughout the season are GREAT! I love watching that 9 yr. old, who finished close to the bottom, get to walk up to the table and grab that new rifle! But, the Worlds is the big one where the shooters get to use what they've learned throughout the season and get rewarded based on their performance. This is just my opinion, but I think it's been great the way you all have been doing it.
  3. "The NSSF Rimfire Challenge is a .22 rifle and pistol program created to introduce new people to the shooting sports and provide a pathway to shooting competition. The NSSF Rimfire Challenge can provide individuals or families with a fun and exciting first-time shooting experience. Shooting ranges can utilize the concept as a Second Round component to NSSF's First Shots program. " ... Just sayin...
  4. And another sweet gun, nice DOT too. I like that we don't need blast shields because the sight is farther back. Thanks man... it's Greyson's gun. Was worried initially about the window being smaller on these RMRs, but he didn't miss a beat.
  5. 9 major gun built by Jeff Cockrum of C-Rums, LLC.
  6. First year for Greyson...Definitely planning on going back next year!
  7. I have 3 kids 15, 13, and 10. All know how to use irons, but haven't necessarily "mastered" them. In my opinion, the only thing they need to master (with our help) is safety. My oldest competes with both, but prefers open. My middle learned how to use irons, but lost interest pretty quick until she shot one of big brothers rimfire open guns. Now she competes. My youngest understands how to use irons, but really didn't even show any interest until she shot with a dot. And now she also competes. My point is, none of my kids are "forced" to shoot. Now, they may have had to learn gun safety against their will initially, but they all shoot now because it's fun. The fact is, they are getting trigger time because they want to. We can always go back later and work on irons, but for now they're getting experience with trigger control, grip, stance, transitions, and competition. Depending on the size and strength of your kids, we found the 22/45 LITE to be a great gun. Simply because they can hold it up! It does hop a little because it's so light, but if you do decide to go OPen, you can put a comp on it.
  8. A couple of my son... 2014 Double Tap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CKYem0btm8 2014 Area 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwwHcnO_LsQ
  9. Excellent match! Definitely one of the best I've shot...wish I could say that about my performance.lol. Stage designs were awesome...Really cool to watch all the different ways some of the stages could be shot, and that was just within my squad. Top notch staff and well run. This, in addition to being able to shoot with my son, made for a great Father's Day weekend! Thanks to all that were involved! Here's my son's match video:
  10. Why just for practice rounds? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL4mmp4k9fA My son and I use Rainier Ballistics plated bullets exclusively...Yes, he does shoot for them and I couldn't be happier about it! There is no way I would let him use an inferior product and "talk it up" just because of a sponsorship...Not the way I am, and most definitely not the way I will raise my son!!! Look, all that I can say is that we've had GREAT luck with these bullets from 9 minor to .40 major to 9 major...Give 'em a call an ask for some samples...I know you won't be disappointed.
  11. My kid at the 2012 Oklahoma State Prod./L10
  12. mine is the same way... blue loctite on the set screw. Has held fine for well over 1,000 rounds. Probably don't want to use red on the screw. I tried peening the sight slightly, but eventually worked its way loose again.
  13. There is only one pin that holds the spring in place under tension. The rest of the spring is held in place within a channel cut into the frame(a bit wider than the spring itself)with the small "leg" going into a hole in the frame. I think the problem is that the sharp edge of the channel wears/deforms a bit allowing the short leg to creep out of the hole just enough to start tilting upward (due to the upward tension). Since the leg is so short, there is not much left to hang onto... and then blammo! No more tension to hold the slide stop down...
  14. Don't know if anyone cares, but I found this to be interesting. Here is the SS spring that CZ-USA & CZ Custom have for the SP-01(which is also in my gun) And here is one that I found on a European IPSC site Both listed factory for SP-01... The bends that are in the second one I think would have helped prevent the short leg from slipping out of the frame... It seems no one else has had this problem, but it might be worth a check. I assure you that it is no fun "slingshotting" your slide 20x's to get through a stage!!!
  15. Thanks guys... Hadn't happened to me before either in a TS that I had. Got this gun a year ago used. Maybe time to replace the spring... Don't know...???
  16. Anyone had a problem with theirs working its way out of the little hole in the frame enough to tilt upwards and either fall out or prevent the slide stop from working correctly? Happened to me last weekend and made for an interesting stage... After I figured out what had happened, I had to put a slight bend in the spring to fix it. Just curious if this is common. Thanks!
  17. LOL. I knew someone was gonna ask... It's a cerakote, but I don't know the name. It was supposed to be stainless, but came out with a green tint. I chose to keep it since it was different. I call it Tactical Flem.
  18. had to get rid of a few pistols over the last couple of years...So here is my carry/limited/production/ssp/esp gun.
  19. Can you use a CZ 75b in ESP, starting "cocked & locked?"
  20. Most of the revolver shooters around here are pretty competitive with the SS shooters. The "C" class and a few "B" production shooters find themselves lower in the standings also. Come to the dark side of the revolver. There is lots of fun to be had by all. I will say that watching someone who can perform well with a revolver is an IMPRESSIVE sight...However,until they can get 20 rounds into a cylinder, for the sake of me and everyone around me, I'd better stick to Limited!
  21. I shoot LTD. minor cuz it pisses me off to just put 10 rounds into a mag that holds 19! Seriously though, Limited is the ticket for me! I just flat out have more fun with 19-20 rounds in the pistol...It's not that I dislike mag changes, I just prefer to do less of them I guess... Minor, because I have just recently handed my .40 down to my son and a 9mm CZ is what we have left. Also, the CZ is pretty much stock and I prefer to start "cocked & locked." I'm pretty sure I would LOVE Open, but I don't even want to try it...I made the mistake of letting my son try it and now it's "Dad, can I get an Open gun...Dad, can I get an Open gun?" Dont' think I would like Revolver because it might take me all day to finish a stage!!!
  22. He is 12...Hey, you just listed the top 2 goals discussed before every match! 1. Be safe. 2. Have fun! Thanks, Steve
  23. A few bits and pieces of my son's 2011 season...A year of "firsts"- First USPSA Major match, first IDPA, first open gun, first rifle, first shotgun, and of course first .50 Desert Eagle (and maybe last!!! )
