Need help with OAL for czsp01 with frontier 124gr Fp bullets
The_Vigilante replied to JeffSta70's topic in 9mm/38 Caliber
Frontier has some reloading data on their bullets-check out their website. However it appears the data is from shooters using the Frontier bullets. YMMV -
I would say Solo 1000 and WST would be about the same.

The 9L is just as hard to find as the Pro!

You'd probably be better off just learning to shoot left-handed. BTDT

Anyone using a Viht powder other than n320
The_Vigilante replied to anilson's topic in 10mm/40 Caliber
I have used N340 for .40 S&W in the past-there are loads for it. -
Not sure whether you are reloading for competition or just a day at the range. If you plan on getting into IDPA/USPSA I would suggest buying your bullets in bulk-from Montana Gold, Precision Bullets, Bayou Bullets, etc. If you buy them by the 100 from the major manufacturers you are paying the most expensive price. Also suggest investing in a few more powders besides Bullseye. Titegroup would be my 1st suggestion. Again buy it in either the 4-lb or 8-lb bottles to get the best price.

Hornady bullet feeding die
The_Vigilante replied to Mbauer67's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
Following Jeff686's lead above, I came up with my own bullet feeder. Bought some plastic tubing from TAP and cut it into 3' sections. A quick trip to Home Depot got me some cotter pins and a eye bolt which I used to steady the tube in the Hornady 9mm bullet feeder die (see photos). It works fine even using Precision Moly bullets-147g. I installed the die in the 3rd slot after the powder drop. The only minor problem I am having is advancing the shellplate. If I go too fast the bullet doesn't stay seated on the case. -
Where should I get my stainless media from?
The_Vigilante replied to Babaganoosh's topic in General Reloading
I think http://www.pelletsllc.com/StainlessSteelShot?gclid=CMaztOW7gqwCFYVeTAodNifneA has the best prices for the stainless steel media. -

Headed to El Paso this weekend!
The_Vigilante replied to Don Springer's topic in Travel, Locations, Ranges, etc.
Don, There will be a match on Saturday. However, at this point I cannot tell you how many rounds, etc. The Match Director mentioned that it might be a pistol-rifle match. I won't know until this evening when he posts again. Guess you will be leaving or have already left for El Paso as I am writing this. Hopefully you will have your laptop. I will post again this evening when I know more. -
I was processing some 9mm today thru my CasePro 100 and came up with a question: Should I de-prime before running the cases thru the Case Pro or does it really make any difference in the long run? I was thinking that I should de-prime them first to then let the Case Pro restore the primer hole to it's OEM state. That wouldn't happen if the case still had the used primer in it when I run them thru. Does the Case Pro have any effect on the empty primer hole?

The long and short of it is that you can't go wrong with any of the names you mentioned.

I can now announce that at the end of the NM State IDPA Match not one SO finished first in his division. So much for the advantage of setting them up!!!

Hornady bullet feeding die
The_Vigilante replied to Mbauer67's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
What is it about the molys that the die doesn't work? Can anyone provide a comparison between the Hornady Bullet Feeder and the Mr Bullet Feeder? Does the added cost for the Mr Bullet Feeder actually make it better? That would be in addition to the lack of an off/on switch on the Hornady mentioned above. -
Headed to El Paso this weekend!
The_Vigilante replied to Don Springer's topic in Travel, Locations, Ranges, etc.
There is supposed to be an IDPA match on Saturday at the Fort Bliss Rod and Club starting at 9AM. Set-up starts at 7:30AM. Briefing at 9AM is required to shoot. I take it you are bringing your pistols and ammo. I will supply additional info as it becomes available. As far as I know there aren't any USPSA matches that day. -
Certainly a step in the right direction. Let's hope they listen to the recommendations and act on them accordingly

Do you really have a Comp on your pistol? If so, it will be illegal for IDPA.

Plenty of zombies tonight!!!

I am using the same 147g Precisions in my XDm 5.25 9mm and have to go down to 1.125 to get them to work. Can go a little bit longer in my M&P Pro 9mm. I am using 3.3 grains of N320 in mine-not chrono'd yet

Pistol Gear Magwell for XDm 5.25 9mm
The_Vigilante replied to The_Vigilante's topic in Gear & Accessories
Thanks, that got it!!! -
I received a Pistol Gear magwell today for my XDm 5.25 9mm to shoot in an IDPA match tomorrow. Unfortunately the instructions for the installation were not included with the magwell. Has anyone installed one of these magwells on their XDm and can provide me with the instructions this evening? Thanks in advance

I contacted Blade Tech and was told they are now making the holster for the XDm 5.25 9mm. Unfortunately it is not the Black Ice holster-they are still not tooled up for this particular holster. So I ordered the regular DOH holster for the XDm 9/40 4.5" from Red Dot Shooting-they have it in stock and I won't have to wait 3-4 weeks for Blade Tech to make it. I was going to order the Black Ice DOH for the XDm 9/40 4.5 but was told that holster is not open at the bottom.

Front sight width 1.25 vs 1.00?
The_Vigilante replied to Glockdirtyfour's topic in Gear & Accessories
Will be interested in hearing the responses to this question. I use a black serrated .100 Dawson Precision because I see more daylight between the rear sights and the front sight. -
If it is a sanctioned match you are referring to it should be reported to IDPA HQ if what you say is true. Blind "surprise" stages have now been ruled illegal in sanctioned matches and if they are still occurring where you shoot report them to the IDPA HQ's. The problem with SO's shooting their own match is that there may be only one SO shooting ESP Expert or SSR-MM. He has no one to compete against!!!

I definitely agree with Stats and GSWEAR above. I was an SO in the NM State IDPA Championship last year. I was involved in setting up the stages on Thursday which was an all day affair and was pretty well beat at the end of the day. Had to get up early next morning to shoot the stages with the other SO's and score keepers. We were running small squads which meant more work for each member of the squad so it was hard to concentrate on shooting the stages even though we had set them up the day before-everything was done at a faster pace-no time to relax for a minute or think about stategy for shooting the stages. By the end of the day I was again exhausted-my shooting had definitely been affected. For me anyway there was no advantage shooting the stages early even though I had set them up the day before
