Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm new to the reloading arena, but I'll add my .02...I have a Dillon Square Deal "B" setup for .38 Super. The only primers I have at this time are CCI SR and they won't seat into my Starline brass. It almost looks like they're too small, but I can't get them to go into the brass by hand either. Has anyone ever had this problem? Thanks, John
  2. Just ordered one of these the other day (CED Millenium Chronograph). Should be here next week. From the above threads it looks like the way to go!
  3. I ran a Rem 870 last year and became so fed up with the problems...usually feeding or jamming problems. Bought a Benelli M4 this year. It has run flawlessly. I like the pistol grip and ghost sights. And easy to load. Although I can only get 6 rounds in the tube using Federal "target loads". (Same issue with slugs) Using the "multi-purpose" loads gives me one more.
  4. I've got a Bedell Shorty in 38 Super on order. I had a chance to meet Dan up in his neck of the woods. Great guy...very accessible and knowledgeable. "Good things come to those who wait".
  5. Hey Sarah, that's a sharp looking gun. Dan's building me an open gun this year too. Good luck in your shooting this year. From what I hear you're a GM in the making and your new Bedell Custom is another step in that direction!
  6. Hey Mike & Mike, Looking forward to shooting with you guys this year. Mike C. did you ever get your timer back after the last 3 gun match? Also, I've got a new email address: jd30129@gmail.com Regards, John Dudley
  7. I bought a JP Rifle - the "VTac" for the same price but with an aces stock and a 16" barrel. I use it for 3 gun and 2 gun at one of my local gun clubs. Well worth the money. Right out of the box it has shot very well, but when I start doing my own reloading it should shoot even better. It will take some time for me to get used to running the gun. Right now the gun shoots better than I do. But that should change as I use it.
  8. Welcome Pete! You're going to get lots of info from this sight. If you want to shoot open major having an STI built by Dan Bedell may be one of your best choices. You may want to contact the folks at Shooters Connection http://www.shootersconnection.com/store/index.php?cPath=118 and talk to them. John
  9. I've got a CZ85 Combat and a 75D PCR Compact with and action job by Angus. After shooting the 75 I quit using the 85 in competition. For some reason the grip suits me better and I'm shooting straighter. I use my 75 in IDPA, IPSC, Multi-Gun, Steel, Action Pistol. I haven't been able to beat the Open guys with the race guns, but still having fun the same. I am looking at buying a race gun in .38 Super and starting to do some reloading. It should be interesting. I paid $485 for the 75 and $180 for the trigger job. I"m happy with both and a firm believer in buying new. You're not buying other folks problems. Enjoy
  10. Welcome Chris, I just started shooting in IDPA a few months ago. The addiction grows! I'm going to start shooting in the 3 Gun Matches in Sept so of course I had to get an AR. I decide to go with a JP Rifle. I'm thoroughly enjoying shooting this gun. I spent 10 years in the Air Force and really appreciate your service to our country. Stay safe and shoot straight! John
  11. Norbert, which JP are you shooting? I just received my VTAC the other day. Just starting the breaking in process. I've decided to start reloading and was going to suggest a phone call to JP himself. I know he does a lot of reloading and may be able to add some good info to the already good stuff here. What type of reloader would you suggest for a newbie?
  12. Ain't that the truth! I'm a newbie here and I'm enjoying all of the great info. I moved to Ohio a year ago and started shooting IDPA back in May. I started by shooting a "classifier" match to gauge my skill. That was humbling, but a great experience. Everyone was very helpful. The most important thing I learned that day was to shoot for accuracy. The speed will come with time and practice. "Slow is fast". I just finished getting outfitted for 3 Gun matches. You wanna talk about putting out some $$$. Now comes the fun part! I shoot a CZ85 Combat, 870 Rem Pump & a JP Rifle. I'm thinking about learning how to reload because the cost is getting up there. One way I learned some good info is by watching the US Army Marksmanship team videos. There's a lot of great info, from different ways to reload a shotgun & handgun to different options for holding your ammo. I highly recommend. Also, does anyone have any suggestions for sights on my shotgun? I've got a front bead sight, but I think I need more. I was shooting slugs at 50 yards last night and had a little trouble. Thanks again for all of the info. It's good to be here!
