  1. CLutchUSMC, will the T-2 give you bolt 'bounce back'? I have to assume that you tried a T-1 correct ? This combination I will try this week. This past week I tried a JP buffer spring with a T - 1 and a T - 2. I like the JP with the T - 2 better however there was noticeable bolt bounce. This can be attributed to the JP being 7% stronger than the Wolff and even more than the ISMI.

I hear that ISMI springs are more durable that Wolff yet weaker strength.

What I am trying to do is find a common denominator in determining the most effective way to use the buffer weight and spring strength in taming recoil. I understand that this being said the ammunition, barrel length, muzzle brake and other variables all play a role.

Again, any and all information is greatly appreciated.

  2. I recently finished my first built, an AR 15 carbine. I used a carbine length gas system. I later learned that a mid length was better. Being that it is too late now which combo ( buffer Spikes T 1 or T 2 ) - spring ( Reduce power, increased power, ISMI, JP, Wolfe ) would you recommend to reduce recoil and protect gun parts. Any and all information, suggestions and recommendations will be greatly appreciated !

  3. It is amazing how Stag Arms puts such a dysfunctional muzzle brake on an otherwise excellent rifle. I suggest that you have patience, use the Stag muzzle brake as a paper weight and try several diffent muzzle brakes such as the Seekins, Pri-Quiet etc. But always remember that weight is an important factor since it is a heavy rifle. At the end you will be happy with the Stag 3 G rifle ( With another muzzle brake of course ).

    The best of luck ...........

  4. The Stag 3 G is an excellent ar 15. There is a high demand for the rifle and limited supply. The carrier/bolt should be upgraded to at least chrome if it hasn't been already. The muzzle brake that it brings has to be changed. Other than this there are extras that would help but are not necessary. It is a good buy if you cannot build your own. There isn't an over the counter gun out there for the price that will beat it. As far as anything less than 1,000 rounds but is well maintained, its still new.

Food for thought; The seller is probably shooting the rifle with the original muzzle brake and as a result not enjoying shooting the rifle.............

  5. I purchased a Stag 3 G rifle and immediately took the muzzle brake off. I returned it to Stag who promised to send back a new and improved muzzle brake. When I received the "New and improved" muzzle brake I took it to the range. It is now laying somewhere in the bottom of a canal. After spending several hundred dollars on different muzzle brakes I now have the Pri-Quiet and am very happy with it. It is lighter and quieter than the Titan and as you know the Stag 3 G is somewhat heavy so weight is an important factor. I still will ask, " Why hasn't Stag either come out with a good muzzle brake or use one of several good muzzle brakes manafactured by others ? The Stag 3 G is an excellent rifle but their muzzle brake turned me off Stags in general and I see that this is happening to others......................

  6. My 2 cents worth; Buy the Stag 3 G. It is by far the best of all rifles that you mentioned. For the price you cannot do any better. If you wanted to spend over a thousand more I would suggest that you look at the Seekins. And yes, you will have to replace the muzzle brake on the Stag 3 G. The "Super" muzzle brake that the Stag 3 G rifle brings is anything but super. You can use it as a paper weight. There are many brakes available that will do justice for such an excellent rifle. My choice would be the Pri-Quiet. It is light in weight, quiet and effective. Wish you the best of luck. Shooting ar's is addictive.

  7. Stagg 3 G is an excellent rifle. However you will have to replace the muzzle brake. I have a Stagg 3 G with a different brake and additional improvements that might be available since I just finish building one. If interested contact me and if not I strongly recommend the Stagg 3 G rifle without reservation. For the price you cannot beat this rifle. But you do have to replace the muzzle brake that comes with the rifle.

  8. Mike 41, from the limited times that I have had the opportunity to see them in person and from looking at videos they do not use the Stagg Super Comp. I saw a Titan and another that I did not identify. I have given my opinion before about the Stag Arms compensator - it is not very good. It serves as a paper weight much better. On the other hand, the rifle is excellent. The rifle is the best value for your money. If I had to do over again I would still buy the Stagg Arms 3 G rifle. I would automatically replace the Stagg Arms Super Comp as soon as I took the rifle out of the box. I have found several better muzzle brakes with my favorite being the small and light Pri-Quiet.

  9. Burris Mtac 1.5 x 6 is lighter and only approximately 1 inch longer...............

.5 magnification doesn't make much difference but the 2 x at the other end can make a big defferenece.................

    I go with the 1.5 x 6 over the Mtac 1 x 4 any day!

  10. I would get a Stagg Arms 3 G and immediately remove their compensator. I would replace it with the Pri-Quiet ( Midway ). This muzzle brake is light, relatively quiet and very effective. It is a winning combination. In my opion the Stagg 3 G is the best bang for your dollar. I have one and could not be any happier. In Noveske you are paying for the name. Their products are good but much more expensive. A few friends have Noveske rifles and after shooting them I will take my Stagg 3 G over theirs. The only way that you can beat the Stagg 3 G is by building your own or having one built for you. As far as optic the Burris MTac in 1.5 X 6 is the way to go. Again, the 6 power recently introduced into the market not the 4 power. The extra magnification could be useful for the longer shots and you do not have to use it. Again, these are my opinion and I am just trying to be helpful to you.

  11. My favorites in a particular order:

Timney- Great trigger pull, even better reset, super easy install, excellent price

JP- Great trigger pull, excellent reset, moderate install, fair priced

AR Gold- good trigger pull, weak reset, easy install, higher priced

S3G- not a fan. A lot of guys absolutely love them. But I do not like the long, rolling travel before it breaks. It's like a 2 stage trigger w/ the second stage that is the same weight as the 1st w/ no stop between 1st and 2nd.

Bryan, I reinstalled the JP and got the same results. Took it to a fellow club shooter who is a JP nut with about the same results......mush. His triggers, after extensive work on them, were somewhat better. But JP's are over priced. I would not mind owning a Timney if I cannot get a Jard adjustable or the Geissel 3 G hybrid. But I respect your and everyone elses opinion.

  12. Have you guys commenting on the JP actually tried it ? Mine felt as if it was grinding sand. I very quickly gave it away. Timney is OK. Chip Mcormick is OK. There are many OK triggers. The Geissele is in a class above. The Jard fully adjustable trigger is in a class by itself.

  13. The Geissele 3 gun trigger is hard to beat. It is awsome - short travel, reset and smooth as silk.It is a very good trigger. However,if you are mechanically inclined give the Jard adjustable trigger a try. It is by far better than any trigger previously mentioned. It will take you into a state of ectasy hard to imagine.

  14. You cannot go wrong with the Stagg 3 G. It is an excellent rifle. But you will have to replace the 'Stagg Super Comp' that the rifle brings. There is just no way getting around to this for it pushes the rifle down making it very uncomfortable etc, etc, etc. With this being said, you cannot beat the Stagg 3 G unless you build your own. I have a Stagg 3 G and am very happy with it( Its a keeper ). I replaced the comp with a Pri-Quiet ( Midway ). Now I am drawing the plans to building my own !

    The best of luck !

  15. I'm in the middle of my first AR build and I'm looking for opinions on muzzle compensator. I'm not too worried about noise, I'd just like to keep the barrel as flat as possible. What are your favorite brakes?

Unquestionably the flattest muzzle brake is the EFFIN-A. Nothing comes close once you tune it. It is also the quietest. The problem is the size, weight and all the screws utilized. And of course it is difficult to clean. So after considering everything I chose the Pri-Quiet Brake. It is very effective, small, light and relatively easy to clean.

  16. A friend purchased a clear plastic box with many smaller plastic boxes inside perfect for storing handgun and rifle parts, screws etc. However the store is no longer in business. Does anyone know where I can purchase such box ? I am tired of throwing parts in a tool box.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

  17. I agree with HRider. A muzzle brake should help. I have spent a few dollars and lots of range time experimenting. I recommend the MSTN Quiet Brake. It is mall, 'relatively' quiet and effective.

If you have lots of patience are mechanically inclined and want to do something crazy try the EFFIN-A Muzzle Brake. It can be tuned to your shooting style, load and rifle. And it is the flattest and quietest of anything in the market.

  18. I have used both the big and smaller one. The big Talon ( Super Comp ) is excellent. If you can get past the 'ugly' by all means get one for it is one of the best. It is flat shooting. As far as the smaller one do not waste your time nor money. It is simply not effective. I will say that the people at GoGun USA are friendly, back their product and are customer service oriented.
