  2. I've used everything from WC, to Tripp Research, to $7.00 Shooting Star mags (bought back in 2001 at the Del Mar Gun Show, when they had gun shows in California), all work if they're in spec, and the gun is in spec. I prefer those where the basepad is removable, and not attached by inward bent tabs for easier cleaning, but that's a personal preference. Act mags are working well lately, and are affordable. I don't like spending a lot of money on a design that is over 100 years old, so I avoid anything over $35.00.
  3. The Sturdy Safe website has some interesting videos on their products being torture tested.
  4. Yeah, I'm lucky here, my neighbors (the few I trust enough to let into the house) are envious of the vault, which is a nice change from when I lived in California.
  5. I lucked into it, when I bought the house the basement was unfinished, except for a TV room. So I had a blank slate. Also had fixtures for a bathroom, so it's now a shop with bathroom (and urinal, which is cool), TV room, bar, and vault. There's also a mechanical room with a closet, but that doesn't count as it's just storage, HVAC, and water heater.
  6. Everything's off the ground other than an old bank safe that was too heavy to move (like 1,800 lbs) that has been turned into part of my work bench in the vault, even the file cabinets I store magazines in are on an elevated platform. And there's no history of flooding in the house in its forty years of existence. It's on top of a hill. It's an oddly built house, the vault is inside another block wall that is the perimeter of the house, so it's essentially double block walled on three sides.
  7. I did just that when I was remodeling my basement. Reinforced block walls are underground on all four sides with all cells filled with concrete. Door by Sturdy Safe. It added less to the project than a new safe (which I needed anyway) would have, and long guns are now hung on the walls, handguns on shelves. 21' x 8', I won't need to buy anymore safes. I also camouflage the vault door with a small set of shelved with paint cans and other nonsense on them. It ain't perfect, but it'll take longer to get into than a gun safe would. That is if you actually found it. There's also home alarm system, two small, useless dogs, cameras, and a low crime area, so there's that.
  8. That is it, thanks. So, is it a custom made thing?
  9. Anybody know anything about these? It appears to be a DAA race holster with a kydex cover that allows it to be used in Production/Carry Optics. Interweb search yields nothing. Thanks. Bob
  10. Yeah, at this point I like everything but the look of the LOK grip. That space at the bottom rear looks incomplete. I also don't see a huge market for magwells for this gun, but ok, I get it. Functionally they're better than my home made G10 grip, and miles better than the garbage Beretta puts on the gun. Just wish they weren't so pricey, but I'm guessing they don't expect to sell a whole lot of them, so I give them credit for making the grips at all.
  11. I use the left hand middle finger, requires less contorting for me, and I never need to care if a gun is "set up" for left handed shooters when I shoot or purchase. As stated, less contorting in general for us left handed shooters this way
  12. If you're just going to chop it up, find someone who wants it and let them have it, maybe make .22 out of it or whatever. I have a .45 ramped barrel and an old Kimber slide, it'd work with (W/N ramp), I imagine you know someone who has parts and can make it work.
  13. Got my grips, got the thin round models. I was worried they'd be no better than my home-made set, especially at the price, but they work for me. I was never able to get my home-made grips thin enough, worried about going too far and having to start over, these are as thin as they could be and make the gun point well. I just wish, purely for aesthetics, that the back of the grip went to the end of the gun's grip frame. Good job LOK.
  14. So, anyone got their grip yet? Which one did you get? Is it all it should be? I ordered the thin, which only comes in round back, kind of wanted the thin but with the standard backstrap, but this wasn't an option. Hopefully it's thinner than my home-made grip I devised from a Hogue G10 grip, which is thicker than I'd prefer. LOK grip arrives Monday, we'll see.
  15. Or USPSA with a motorized cart...
  16. I do. I'm at the point where the best part of the match is when I can take the gun off. It's a Beretta 92X Performance, so the gun and six mags have mass. I'm also lazy, so factor that in. I built my cart (not motorized) back in 2007 cause I thought you needed everything in your toolbox at a match in case something broke, I've outgrown that nonsense (I only shoot local matches, so big match fees and travel ain't my problem). Now the cart is more habit than anything else. Now it just has to have a small footprint, stow easily to fit in the back of my truck without disassembly or removing parts (telescopic handle), and be light enough for me to pick up and put into my truck. Current cart meets these requirements, after much upgrading. Added bonus is I can sit on it and use it as a table. Zuca carts are nice, but too spendy for what they are (IMHO). If I was to motorize a cart, big wheels (20" bicycle wheels) would be a must. A 12v motorcycle battery would probably be more than enough power for it, but honestly an e-bike with a simple trailer would probably be a better solution than anything I could come up with.
  17. Haven't had it rip a case in half (yet), something to look forward to I guess. I still have a bunch of those buckshot rounds left, malfunction practice I guess.
  18. Yeah, misery loves company, right? No other rounds give my gun any problems. I've run Herters 1050fps target loads, Centurion slugs, SBBuck (Sellier & Beloit) and various other target rounds, only those ever so slightly longer Rio Royal Buck buckshot loads that cause the issue. Funny cause they're less than 1/16" longer than normal 2 3/4" loads.
  19. I have the same issue with the same ammo and came to the same conclusion. I think the rounds stacking, each a bit further forward than the round below it combined the the extra length is the issue if more than five rounds are loaded. I was wondering if anyone else was having the same issue.
  20. I've built two 9mm PCCs, both with side charging uppers (one NFA, one Matrix Arms). Other than being a tiny bit heavier than a rear charger (a couple of ounces difference in weight), they're exactly what a PCC should be. For the life of me, I can't figure out why JP didn't make the JP5 a dedicated side charger since they started from scratch with that gun. The rear charging handle is my only gripe about AR ergonomics. With regard to muscle memory, dry fire and practice quickly make a side charger second nature.
  21. Can't say, I got lazy and didn't feel like trimming, reassembling, checking, trimming, reassembling, checking until I got it to work and just trimmed the follower to make slide not lock on last round.
  22. Good to know they'll last that long. Seem well built, but you never can tell with a shotgun, as the Mossberg 930 demonstrated.
  23. Whole gun is Turkish. Not defending Turkish guns, but mine runs great, and the sights, cheap as they are work fine. Curious if there are any really high round count guns out there, and how do the owners like them.
