  1. 12LESLUG is the one to get. Runs perfectly in both M1 and M2. Accuracy is almost as good as B&P Low Recoil A better buy is here http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/fiocchi-12-gauge-low-recoil-2-3-4-7-8-oz-aero-rifled-slug-80-rounds?a=1316451
  2. 1) Barrel length is your preference, No real advantage. The down side, if any, is the little bit of extra weight. 2) Rifle gas is my preference but it was like hen's teeth a few years back to find a 16" barrel with rifle gas. CMMG was the only game in town. Ended up with a Mega 16" mid length. I picked the 16" just because ballistic of most 168 gr matched with my MTAC 1.5-6. I personally think all 308 barrels are over weight and over gassed (too large of a gas port). The part you will need to spend good $ on is the BCG + adjustable gas block. JP LMOS with high pressure bolt is the set up.
  3. Agreed! "Don't look at a gift horse in the mouth" BTW, forget the idea of BDC in 1x. Burris tried it and failed miserably. You can't make dots/lines thin enough to use at 400 yds->beyond without them being invisible. I've been shooting the 'cheater iron' Leupold Prismatic for the past 2 years and haven't had to leave too many of those steel targets beyond 400 yds.
  4. Love the idea of a 6" long slide on top of my M&P Pro! This is going to be one wicked M&P.
  5. Adjust the gas block until your rifle locked back on empty mag and then open it a little to ensure reliability, then leave it alone. You don't need to change buffer unless that's what you want to do. You don't need ti firing pin unless your extracted live chambered round has a significant dimple from the steel pin's inertia.
  6. Best to crank that screw in the holster all the way down. A 'flying' pistol, unloaded or not, would give me as the RO the knee-jerk reaction of yelling "STOP" and then sort it out - on the clock, no fun and more than enough of a penalty
  7. Amazing group of people! Everyone wanted to shoot even the thick fog and drizzly rain
  8. Let Dremel be your friend . Cut mine down and angled it.
  9. Exactly why I put my G17 in the safe when the M&P Pro came out. My CZ TS is a good fit but oh so heavy. For 3 gunning, the M&P is good enough with Apex trigger and Dawson Precision sights so I will continue to use it but no more searching for the holy grail when it isn't there.
  10. I hate to say this, but you're going to find the same poor result. I gave up on trying to improve the accuracy of my 2 M&P Pros. From Storm Lake to Wilson Combat, and the latest APEX sdi barrels. Maybe a gunsmith fit would be better but I already have CZs and Glocks that can outshoot these M&Ps without any custom work. The Apex sdi improved grouping at 25 yds, but not significant enough over the factory barrel for me to keep so I got rid of it. Ugh... I just ordered an Apex SDI. You are the first one I've heard who has said that there is disappointing accuracy with it. How bad was it with stock and how bad with each of the barrels (ballpark group size at 25 yd)? Stock M&P was 4-5" off sandbag at 25 yds. Ammo were 125 gr Precision Delta JHP, 125 gr Hornady HAP, and 124 gr Hornady XTP, all were on top of 4.6-4.8 gr of Win 231 or Tightgroup. Primer is Fed SP or SPM. Plus a sampling of new 125 and 115 gr XTP from Freedomunitions. I didn't go cheap on the bullets because this is my match gun/load. Stormlake and Wilson results were the same as factory barrel, within 0.5" so for all intended purpose, same accuracy. Apex SDI were 3"- 4". The initial group with the 125 gr HAP was all 4 in one hole + 1 outside within 1.5" so I was extremely happy...but that didn't last long, 2nd and 3rd opened up. It wasn't that I didn't appreciate the result (anything is better than 5" at 25 yds) but the gun started to have failed to feed and failed to fire about 10% of the time. This is with factory recoil spring assembly and factory striker spring. Trigger is Apex straight blade FS that has been through 4-5k rds in the last year without a single hiccup. Put the old barrel back in and problems went away so most likely that I've closed up the tolerance window so much with this barrel that caused the FTFs to occur. Either that or 'operator errors/failures'

  12. There is no issue that I could tell. I run a Timney 3lb and it is GTG.
  13. White side of IPSC target and just center the dot on it.
  14. Be sure to test your new rig with all the ammo types that you'd or might use. I had issues with the Timney 308 trigger (failing to light up PPU white box 308 a few times). Switched out to Hipertouch 24C and it is now 100% reliable. Perhaps we will see you at 2016 He Man @ Whittington Center
  15. Sure you can run an adj. gas block with standard BCG. However, there is no reason to run an adj. gas block unless you want to tune your rifle/carbine to a lower reciprocating mass, i.e. lightweight BCG and/or buffer.
  16. If you can already see and hit at those distances with the Tac30, spending uber $ on another optic won't improve your game. Keep this in mind, if you know your zero and ballistic associated with it, all the fancy reticle won't make it any better, specially when your max distance is 300 yds (don't need no stinking BDC is what I'm saying).
  17. Woo Hoo!!! I will make it now with this new date! Time to dust off the Glock 35! http://competition-dynamics.com/blog/resurgence-dates-changed-to-sept-23-25-2016/
  18. I've been using the ADM mount AD-20 since day one and it is holding up very well. Yes the prismatic illumination sux but I normally don't use illumination anyway so no big deal. The Vortex factory mount is slightly higher that the Leupold + ADM mount, and glass isn't as good as the prismatic so it is sitting on my practice gun. Can't complain since its cost is less than 1/2 of the prismatic!
  19. Got one on a piston operated 10.5". Yes. it will fire the one round in the chamber with the stock folded. No, you can not manipulate the charging handle while the stock is folded because the bolt carrier is locked in place by the rear "carrier blocker". Cool factor - Totally! Functionality - Yes for the purpose of making the AR package shorter during transport mode. Reliability - The gun's 100% reliable with the stock locked in normal position. Worth the 240 coins? No, not to me anyway .
  20. Yes malfunction drills! On the serious note, what's OP reason to ask? Cost or availability, or just something different? If it is cost, here is the difference - Factory mags $35 vs Promag $15. +$20 to buy factory x 3 mags (besides the 2 that came with the pistola) for match requirements - $60 premium over the years of service. How much are you going to pay for match fees? and what do you value the cost of every malfunction due to crappy magazines at each match? I thought OP posted that "wants to avoid having a bad day..." Availability - Not a supply issue (yet), there are plenty of the factory 17 rds mags out there. Something different - Well I guess anyone can march to their own drums
  21. Have you actually weighed them? My AIM BCG is lighter than my JP Yes, 8-1/2 oz (AIM) vs. 8-5/8 oz (JP), negligible in my book and the carbine sure didn't notice it today.
  22. I do have one in my match gun. Ran it this year without issues. Most recently at RM3G. My set up is what you'd just described 16" MicroMOA rifle length gas, JP Stl steel LMOS, SLR adj gas block, Taccom ultralight carbine buffer system, Hiperfire 24C trigger, and V7 brake. Ammo was a mix bag of 55gr Blitzkings and 55gr FMJ, all loaded to 2900 fps out of this barrel. Gas block is closed 1/2 way with this set up so it still has plenty of gas left. Barrel is 1.25 moa with the blitzking at 100 yds with Leupold Prismatic 1x. Haven't tried with any magnification yet since I'm shooting limited iron. My old reviews (both 16" one mid length and one rifle length gas) on AR15 back in 2014 http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_2_543/256085_Great_barrel_.html BTW, I'm testing out the new AIM lightweight bcg just for grins, it is the same weight as the JP LMOS. Ran it through the same upper today without issue, verdict is still out there since I only got 50 rds through this carrier.
