  1. Yes to that! I've tried Wilson Combat and Storm Lake drop in barrels and they didn't do anything for accuracy improvement. Apex semi-fit barrel is the way to go. Biggest difference is fitting the pad below the barrel 'link', this is where the magic happens to keep slide and barrel locked together during the initial phase of firing (about the first 1/8" of rear ward movement before the barrel starts to unlock).
  2. Nope. Been using my MOA 16" rifle length in the last few years for 3 gun and not experienced any issues besides the nut behind the trigger not doing his job . My SLR gas block is turned 1/2 closed since I'm running alum carrier and Taccom UL buffer. I was concerned about running it during the winter practices but that was unfounded.
  3. Minor issue as long as the RO hangs onto the chamber flag. Now I can get EM going again by bringing up the 1/2 day format...No, let's not
  4. Great match! Great sponsors!!! Big "thank you!" to the hard working ROs and Staff. Stages were fun and didn't require much of 'bug hunting' expeditions. The chamber flagging after the last shot fired could use some 'tweaking' to minimize wasted time per shooter - It went like this: 1) If the shooter is finished, unload and show clear - Ok, this is normal. 2) Bolt forward - ???Why??? 3) Hammer down - ???Why??? 4) Pull the bolt back to insert flag. Seemed to me the 'bolt forward' + 'hammer down' steps were left over from clearing a pistol. No need to do these steps with shotguns and carbines since the moment you pull the carrier/bolt back enough to insert chamber flag, hammer would be recocked anyway. And so what if the hammer is cocked when the bolt is locked back, just insert the flag and move on. We timed this in our squad and it took a minimum of 10 seconds to complete after the 'unload and show clear' command when the flag was already in the RO's hand, otherwise the shooter stood there fishing around in his pocket for it.
  5. The new JP 3-port compensator is very good also.
  6. I think it is important to go back to the original question of "...allowing these types...in other divisions?" For this question, I am okay with moving the tube feed shotgun out of 19th century! Maybe this will drive other companies like Benelli to do similar for their semi autos.
  7. 8x would be the highest magnification since field of view is extremely important when I'm running a rifle stage. I have a pair of the lower priced Leupold (I think BX-1) that didn't cost me an arm/leg but its glass, typical with Leupold, is more than good enough to see reactive targets out to 6-700 yds. I don't feel bad leaving it in my truck . Cheap but decent for the intended use and so what if lost - https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1019635072/leupold-bx-1-mckenzie-binocular-42mm-roof-prism-shadow-gray
  8. I bet it would should 55 gr. Blitzkings very well. Forget about the 62 gr (most likely green tip steel core), okay for making holes in paper but don't expect even 2 moa groups.
  9. You can use a Magpul Fixed Carbine Stock on AR10 receiver and it would give you the same LOP as A1 stock on AR15. I'm using the FCS because it has the QD mount where I wanted and it also doesn't require me to change out the carbine buffer tube + buffer set up as they came from CMMG.
  10. 16th time? So you must have started RM3G the same year I did however, I was working as RO back then and didn't shoot for score. Old timers we sure are!
  11. Both of my Pro's shot no better than 4" @ 25 yds off sandbags. Groups tightened up to 2-2.5" with semi fit Apex barrel. Ammo is PD 124gr JHP. My CZ P09 and TS shot that tight with factory barrel. S&W barrels seemed to be made to be reliable like Kalashnikov I supposed
  12. I can only offer my opinion on the Sandman in 7.62. In term of keeping the muzzle steady, it worked okay but no comparison to brake-specific design (i.e. larger diameter). I tried it with my 18" 308 and didn't like the result when compared to my old 16" barreled 308 wearing a Lancer Nitrous so I ended up buying another Lancer for this new upper. If you're using it for 556 then it might work okay since the exit holes through the 3 baffles are much smaller, yielding more blast surfaces for the gas to work against.
  13. Not consistent enough in my book. Variations, at least in mine anyway, 0.5 gr. I'm used to 0.1 gr. variation.
  14. Okay I'll add my 0.02 worth. For multi days 3 gun match with short 2 guns stages I can see the 1/2 days format would work well since competitors wouldn't have as much gear to prep. Yes, this type of stage design can be boring for competitors in 1-on/ 1-off format (let's not call it Full Day anymore so that people don't get confused). For match with all 3 guns (plus sling) in most of the stages, the 1/2 days format is just nuts IMO. We rushed from one to another while shuffling gears. I know, some will say just leave all your gears on. That's fine for some but belt real estate is limited so when you need to carry 18 rds of shotshells, 2 rifle mags, and 2 or 3 pistol mags depending on which one get the start, I usually find best to lose the extra pouches or holster whenever I could. The way to be prepared is to load up 2 - 3 sets of mags but that's only a partial solution. One would run out of time after the 2nd stage of the day, unless you volunteer to be in 'Trooper Class', carrying all your gears/ammo in all the stages. Perhaps what magnified the 'rush' some of us are feeling in 1/2 day format matches is the direction in which most 3 gun matches are heading, more 3 guns stages and longer shotgun stages. In summary, the 1/2 day format is fine if the stage designs and layout are managed in such a way to minimize gear change out. For match with gonzo stages, 1-on/1-off format is much better IMO.
  15. Same here, I tried 68 gr Hornady and 69 gr Sierra, perhaps I'm not using the right powder with these but loading from a 650, I'm limited to fine ball powders (2460, TAC, or H335).
  16. Yep, for sure Dan. Us old school guys just haven't bought into the heavy bullets scene . I've tried 69 gr SMK and nah...no spectacular results so back to the old tried and true 55 BKs.
  17. 55 gr Sierra Blitzkings for everything but short bay stages. Been using this for more than 10 yrs, no problems with hitting flashers out to 500 yds, just know your ballistic. I also found Nosler 55 gr ballistic tip bullets have just about the same POI and accuracy as the Sierra BKs.
  18. If both are at the same price point after the mods you want, then I'd look at the weight difference. The M3k listed as 7.3 lbs and I believe the original Benelli M1 super 90 is at 8.0 lbs. I can at least vouch for the weight of the M1 versus M2 since I have both, the M2 is much more nimble since it is lighter, so if the M3K is built following the M2 blue print, then I bet it would be quicker on point than the old M1 (keep in mind this is rather subjective.)
  19. Updated with photos since the old Photobucket got greedy.
  20. Yes, the barrel clamp can change your slug POI. My M2 has the Nordic extension (10 total), and I got tired of having to re zero after a full cleaning job so I tossed the clamp in parts bin. I haven't used a barrel clamp in quite a few years. However if you really want a clamp, use this https://taccom3g.com/product/taccom-extension-stabilizer/ Tim came out with this a few year back.
  21. I'm running 2 24C, one in 556 and the other in 308, both with mixed bag ambi safeties from CMMG and KE, none with any issues. With that said, it absolutely doesn't mean your set up with the same won't have issues. The gremlins here are stacking tolerance issues between all of these components: receiver, trigger, and safety barrel. Just have to try a few different safeties if you run into functional problems. Safest bet is to run an adjustable safety from JP, or just have a few different brands in your parts bin.
  22. No, the M&P 22lr is not the same gun as M&P 9/40. You got what you got, unfortunately.
  23. Vaporware! Might as well forget it.
