  1. I am just about totally deaf so, no, I do not use the telephone. They should still have the courtesy to respond to e-mail and snail mail.
  2. I started having extraction issues with my XDM 5.25 in 9mm. I cleaned the gun top to bottom but I noticed heavy pitting in 3 spots in the chamber wall. I e-mailed Springfield Armory (SA) twice, snail mail once all to warranty to find out if this would be covered. Didn't get the courtesy of a response of any kind. Letter to PR woman went unanswered also. Anyone else have pitting issues with the SA match barrels? If so, any luck getting SA to replace it. I'm at the point now to replace it with aftermarket bbl. Any recommendations?
  3. I am the acting RM for the matches of the original post. We have a lot of new shooters to the sport who have no idea what they would have to comply with if they went to a level 2 or higher match. The MD and I were thinking of doing an equipment check and chrono at one of our level 1 matches to inform those who may not be in compliance.
  4. Worked a Steel Challenge match at a local club in Florida and when I brought up the review screen, it would display the percentage and classification the persons score was for the official stages. I updated my android tablet to the latest version of practiscore but it does not show the % or class upon review. The tablets used in the FL match were android driven. What am I missing?
  5. Shot a match that had a classifier. Before my squad shot that stage the match director told us that the stage was being thrown out due to the improper replacement of a target. Squad, while waiting, still shot the stage knowing it was not for score. Upon posting of results the stage was deleted, however, the only penalties (2 no shoots) and misses (1) that I shot in the entire match on that deleted stage still showed up in the Match Overall results page. My e-mail to PS support apparently goes to spam based on past questions so that is why I am posting here. Any ideas on why the scores from a deleted stage would show up anywhere?
  6. The stage description will be "hands at sides." Nothing about requiring an object to be held or thrown or used to activate the stomp pad. That will be the gamer/s plan to avoid sidestepping onto the pad and then to the shooting box. There will only be two steps from start position to shooting box so grabbing a mag out of a pouch would not be as quick as already holding something in their hand. I would need something more than "I heard" to not start a competitor because he is holding something in their hand if they choose to do so. I need a rule that prohibits the act of holding an object in their hands at the start position other than as previously mentioned.
  7. I do not want to inhibit freestyle thinking and I do not like lengthy legal like written stage descriptions to prohibit an action. I also do not want to require the holding of an object as that could easily be written into the start position. I just want to know if it is legal under the rules for the competitor to hold an object, other than gun, mags or ammo prohibited in rule 8 something, in their hand at the start signal. Yes, the thought process is to activate the stomp pad while passing it entering into the shooting box rather than make the detour and step on it or pulling a mag out of the pouch.
  8. Scenario is a stage where the competitor must activate a stomp pad either before, during or after entering the shooting area. Rules section 8 prohibits handgun, ammo or ammo device in hand at start I found no rule that would prohibit the competitor holding an object (rock, squib rod, etc) in his hand at the start signal to drop on the stomp pad. Or am I missing something?
  9. Downloaded 1.4.7 and can now upload the match results from the tablet. Problem solved Thanks
  10. Was away yesterday. I e-mailed the export file to: support@practiscore.com just a minute ago. Will get new version.
  11. Here is the link from the Practiscore web site that I sent my e-mail question to: mailto:support@practiscore.com I just tried again to upload the same results from the tablet that my phone was able to do and, again, got the same message "error posting to practiscore.com; timeout" Phone is version 1.3.20 Android Tablet is version 1.4.1 Android Steel challenge match I used the same internet connection in all attempts with tablet and phone.
  12. Sent e-mail to support but I have not received a reply. I replaced the older version on my Samsung tablet with Version 1.4.1. I then held my first steel match for the year and tried to upload results to Practiscore. Every attempt resulted in an error screen saying it "timed out." No problems with the older version last year on this device. I synched my tablet with my phone which has the older version and was able to upload the results from the phone with no problem. ????? 13. Thanks for the reply. I did e-mail support about 5 days ago and never got an answer, hence my request for info here. I knew about the ios version being capable of generating the report but I'm pretty sure I read on practiscore facebook that an android version was available in mid Feb to do the same thing from the practiscore.com web site after match results were posted there.
  14. Just read that there is a way to generate a web report that is compatible with SCSA after the match is posted on Practiscore.com. I just ran a test match on my Android version 1.4.4 and can not find the tab "web report" at the bottom of the results page. Yes, I am MD and looked on the results page, club results page with no luck. Help please
  15. Update on the Apex hammer!!!!! My reliability testing was faulty! Not being at the range, I was using sized and primed brass and chambering one at a time without being in a clip. Problem is that the chambers are heavily chamfered which results in headspacing problems. DUH! Stupid is as stupid does. Anyway, at the range today I tested all 3 hammers in the same revolver, factory standard, bobbed lightened factory and Apex Evolution using clipped live ammo. RESULTS: The factory hammer was reliable with the strain screw set as a starting point for the other 2 hammers. 7lbs trigger pull. Factory lightened hammer was reliable with the strain screw backed out 1 full turn! 6 1/4 lbs trigger pull. Apex hammer was reliable with the strain screw backed out a full turn and 3/4.!!! 5 1/2 lbs. No mainspring bending was used in this test so I truly believe that a reliable 5 lb trigger pull is within easy reach. APEX HAMMERS RULE After believing for 26 years that bobbed hammers do not make a difference, I have now seen the light. I have also learned something about revolver smithing that was staring me in the face for all those years. Carmoney, I never locktite a backed out strain screw. They are cheap enough to buy and cut to length when seated firmly in addition to blue locktite. Thanks for all the help and input.
  16. Toolguy, That is really good information and with an explanation as to why. Thank you for being so specific and sharing this with me.
  17. Thanks for all the feedback. Some interesting points are taken with "rotational speed" and acceleration vs weight. I never liked the "soft mushy" feel of 6 lbs. and under on revolver triggers so I set mine to right around 7 lbs. Strangely, it remains right at that same pull when I use the Apex, factory unbobbed/lightened and with my friends bobbed and lightened hammer. Just doesn't make any difference it seems in order to get reliability. I also adjust the rebound spring up and down as needed to get reliable return as the mainspring is tightened/loosened to get ignition. I use nothing but the Apex extended competition firing pin with their lighter return spring and firmly seated Federal primers for all my revolvers.. I will try and bend different mainsprings but I wonder if it is worth the effort for a 1/2 to 1 lb lighter trigger. Stuck at 7.
  18. I was never one to believe that bobbed/lightened hammers made much of any difference in a S&W revolver's trigger pull. I was recently gifted an Apex Evolution IV n-frame hammer and fitted it to my 627 USPSA gun. First, it weighs 355 grains against a friends S&W hammer (self bobbed and lightened) at 317 grains. If less weight is better, why all the praise on the Apex hammer? Second, after fitting and testing for reliability; the Apex hammer required the same mainspring weight which did nothing to lighten the trigger pull or feel on my 627. I'm not knocking the Apex product, I am just trying to understand why there is so much claim of improved performance. I am a revolversmith of some note in the 1980's with PPC guns so I am confident that my fitting the hammer and tuning the gun is not at fault. Anybody else have a similar experience with bobbed/lightened hammers vs Apex Evolution vs Factory in performance. Any suggestions in fitting/tuning that may have evolved since my smith days?
  19. The 8 stages get boring. I do not suggest to get rid of them, just add some more stages to select from. I run level 1 matches and the best feedback I get are about the fast outlaw stages, never the SC stages. Movement is not recommended as the sport is a starting point and ending point for a lot, not all, of competitors. I have a lot of seniors that shot USPSA that don't move so well any more. For beginners, it takes the edge off of starting out running a full blown 32 round USPSa course. What about authorizing reduced size targets for Outer Limits and Speed Option for ranges without 35 yard capability? Another favorite are the outlaw stages that are more difficult but have a 2 second option plate. Some of these ideas will not be agreeable to all but they are the things that bring positive feedback, compliments and returning competitors. I don't see this notion of asking how to change SC as fixing something that isn't broken as much as how to improve what isn't broken so that more people will participate. My two cents.
  20. Thanks for taking me to school racegun. Learned something new about PS
  21. I admit I'm new to PS but from what I know there is no e-mail or phone listing on the screens available on a scoring tablet. I believe only the MD has that on the registration site. Could be wrong, if so, let me know where this info is on the scoring tablet screens.
  22. Just got word back from PS support. The likely problem was the MD didn't properly id the match on the PS registration form so it defaulted to USPSA. Even though he set the match up correctly on the master tab, when he used the pin to import registration he just applied all the changes without seeing it was changing the match to USPSA. Peter
  23. Thanks for your response. Your points are well taken on allowing access to the scores from the scoring devices. Sending them to PS for competitor review as the match is progressing seems like the best solution.
  24. A new MD and I got into it with regard to a "problem" that occurred in scoring his first match. Essentially, he is blaming those who synched their phones with the master tablet as being responsible for changing the match from idpa scoring to USPSA as well as deleting all paper targets from each of the six stages. The MD swears the match was all set up on the master with the correct scoring (idpa) and all the steel and paper listed for each stage. MD said he imported the registration of shooters from the practiscore web site the night before. After final registration and a few changes in squadding and adding walk ins, two people (1 is me) synched their cell phone with the master. Upon arrival at my first stage, I looked at my phone and saw the stage I was on did not have any paper targets listed, the correct steel count was present just no paper and it was USPSA scoring. I tell the MD and he has a fit blaming it on those who synched to the master saying that we changed the match on his master. MD swears that he did not synch the master with any other device. If I understand this program, no changes can be pushed from the cell phones (if any were actually made) to the master. The master must pull from a device that has changes to affect the master (which he says he never did). Once a match is created, it can not be changed from IDPA to Steel to USPSA scoring without creating a new match. In other words, the created match can not be edited to change the scoring system used. A new one must be created. I suggested that the MD had imported the registration into a match on the master other than the one with the correct scoring and target listing for the stages. Perhaps to a test match. MD swears he could not as he deleted all other matches before importing the registration. I suggested that he deleted the correct match while keeping a test match but this apparently went unheard. Has anyone had any experience with a similar problem or a problem with having competitors synching their phones with the tablets before, during or after the match? It is my understanding that competitors having the ability to keep track of scores throughout the match is one of the beautiful features of the program. Or am I missing something here? Peter
